Salgado Is A Hero Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Joke of a club. 600 million since 1992 for two top four finishes and two league cups. Incredibly delusional fans as well. Gary Hooper scored a cracker for Norwich today as well so wait for that one on MOTD2.

Guest Norbert Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 They did come second though. They are an odd team. They either win 1-0 and look like there is potential, or get completely gubbed. Liverpool are starting to look good enough to challenge for a top 4 place though. If they can keep Suarez, and make a few astute signings to replace Gerrard and give their attacking more creativity, they could go far.
davulsukur Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Incredibly delusional fans as well. I was well informed by a couple of spurs fans i know that this was "the" year. They were fully expecting a title challenge. Oh, they also "didn't need" Gareth Bale either.
Amo Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Spurs didn't have a single shot on target. *insert conspiracy here*
Majiball Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Spurs didn't have a single shot on target. *insert conspiracy here* perhaps vilas boas cashing in before he gets sacked?
JonnyBRFC Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 perhaps vilas boas cashing in before he gets sacked? Yup..
Stuart Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Villas Boas sacked by mutual consent.
Mullionvagrant Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Barcelona and Blackburn-you almost have to feel sorry for Man City. Not getting the luck of the draws with the cups
Majiball Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Barcelona and Blackburn-you almost have to feel sorry for Man City. Not getting the luck of the draws with the cups after watching them yesterday they could beat them. It's worth a tenner.
sausagemandog Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Appleton is a leading contender for the Baggies job according to the Daily Telegraph
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 16, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted December 16, 2013 AVB had the highest win % of any Spurs manager since 1899.....
Amo Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Very harsh, kneejerk sacking. Spurs won't find a better looking manager.
FGS5635 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Insane giving a manager 100m to spend, then sacking him after 16 games. World gets crazier by the day. I suspect if Arsenal werent top of the league he wouldnt have been sacked
Backroom DE. Posted December 16, 2013 Backroom Posted December 16, 2013 I think with the amount spent in the summer AVB had to perform better. It takes a while for a squad to gel but they shouldn't be getting thumped by anybody. Losing 3-0 at home to West Ham, for example, is a diabolical result. He's flopped at two fairly big clubs now, so I imagine he'll leave England now and try to rebuild his reputation abroad.
FGS5635 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Maybe Dyche will get the Spurs job and AVB can digout his trusty old powerpoint presentation and get back in for the dingle job
M-K Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Insane giving a manager 100m to spend, then sacking him after 16 games. World gets crazier by the day. Maybe he wasn't actually in charge of the transfers.
FGS5635 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Maybe he wasn't actually in charge of the transfers. Then sacking him after giving him players he didnt pick could be even worse
Majiball Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Appleton is a leading contender for the Baggies job according to the Daily Telegraph If only the papers hired and fired football managers, appleton would be running several clubs. He's not got a hope of the WBA job.
Backroom DE. Posted December 16, 2013 Backroom Posted December 16, 2013 If only the papers hired and fired football managers, appleton would be running several clubs. He's not got a hope of the WBA job. There have been some ridiculous managerial hirings in the past (Kinnear at Newcastle for example) but Appleton to WBA would be up there with the worst. It would guarantee relegation.

It would guarantee relegation. From his agents mouth this summer, he was a banker for the U21's, southgate got it. Not even Barnsley want him and now WBA are supposedly interested? All it does for me is show how influential agents are in ALL aspects of football. Although Appleton to WBA would help Sam keep West Ham up.
speeeeeeedie Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Insane giving a manager 100m to spend, then sacking him after 16 games. World gets crazier by the day. If he spent it he is far more culpable, but it all the players were bought for him then there is some justification that it was unfair. They have no strikers, and too many creative midfielders - they should have kept Scott Parker. His team didn't score enough, and he tinkered too much. I think his worst misktake was having his defence play far too high up the park making it very easy for teams to get in behind them. Also having Michael Dawson as their lynchpin doesn't help.
koi Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Maybe Dyche will get the Spurs job and AVB can digout his trusty old powerpoint presentation and get back in for the dingle job Yep, the fabled PowerPoint presentation and no doubt plenty of Excel spreadsheets to show how good he is.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Micheal Dawson is awful. They should have either kept Assou-Ekotto or got some more cover at LB. Injuries to their left backs and Kaboul meant Vertonghen (by far their best defender) had to play LB and Dawson was a permanent fixture....which is embarrassing for a top 6 team. They've signed a load of new players which meant it would take time to adapt but there haven't been any promising signs of it all coming together, like what's been happening at Norwich. They've got some good players but he had no idea how to get the best out of them. Last season, I didn't think they were too much of a one-man-team but tbh, I've revised that now.
