Good signing for Utd but £37 million is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay over £25 million for him.

A bargain then!! :)

It says: "Despite falling down the pecking order, United's revenues increased from 395.9m euros to 423.8m euros."

Which puts them 7.4m euros behind third-placed Bayern Munich and 107.6m euros above the next placed English club (whose revenues were artificially inflated by a massive FFP-avoiding self-sponsorship shirt deal)

Got to love all the pundits and journos saying mata could be a key signing.

I'd freakin hope so for 40 million

No more so than people saying that United look pretty average withou Van Persie and Rooney. Barcelona look a bit average without Messi and Neymar. City don't look nearly as good without Toure and Aguero. Bayern don't look as good without Ribery and Robben.

Obviously United have more holes than the rest of those teams, but if you take the two best players out of any team for practically half a season they will struggle to compete at anywhere the same level.

Their central midfield is amazingly uncreative, I'm a bit surprised that they are spending so much on Mata (although he will be good for them) before brining someone in to play in the middle.

I read Neymar was transferred for £48.6m, he is suppose to be a wonder so if the price on Mata was £35m , Chelsea may well be profiting though that should not be a concern with a club with their funds.. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25848893

Torres 17 appearances, Mata 13. But maybe it was an injury, Mata has always been on when I've seen CFC play on TV. Maybe Chelsea are confident and they did get Eto'o. http://int.soccerway.com/teams/england/chelsea-football-club/661/

Can't wait to see the shootout. Sounds like there were some real Chris Waddles.

I just saw them. Some absolutely shocking ones. I think 4 went over the bar.

Poor De Gea. He saved 3 out of 5 and still loses.

If he hadn't spilled a ridiculously easy shot it probably would never have gone to penalties tbf.

I just caught the replay on sky sports of the penalties. It's still funny!!

Been amazingly quiet around work today. Of course it's because people 'aren't bothered' about the Carling Cup

I don't think any of the Plastics will be feeling very sorry for De Gea .

I only watched the pens earlier. I've just seen Sunderland's goal. A bit dodgy.

I'm just enjoying the squirming and the pain United fans are going through. They're not used to it like a lot of other football supporters. Welcome to our world. :)

That Salah has moved from Basel to Chelsea for £11m. Why he went there I don't know. He'll hardly get a game with all the attacking midfielders Chelsea have.

And has anyone heard about Scott Sinclair? Should we be contacting missing persons?

He's at West Brom on loan I think, that move to Citeh worked out really well for him.....

You could see that happening a mile off. He should have stayed at Swansea, and he may have been in the England squad.
