Guest Norbert Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 For me it is all about balance. If it was a case of insane attacking, football will become as dull as table tennis or basketball. And to be honest, I've always liked a big defender putting some fair, but well timed tackle or a big hit in rugby that Brian Lima would be proud of. As for Sam, I wasn't too keen on watching his football, but he has got the job done in the past, and I always smiled when Bolton beat Arsenal. I'd rather a team be effective than pretty, skilful, but flimsy and utterly lightweight.

perthblue02 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 From twitter: First time an x Utd player has beaten them in exactly 8 years - since Hughes' Blackburn won 4-3 Feb 1 2006 Moyes is certainly rewriting the record books and his after match comments are becoming very keanesque, enjoyable watching his and united's downfall Barcodes not happy today neither
Backroom DE. Posted February 1, 2014 Backroom Posted February 1, 2014 Moyes is painfully out of his depth at United. It's wonderful to watch. I'd also question the logic of paying £37M to buy an attacking midfielder only to shunt him out on the wing. If they needed somebody for that position they might as well have gone for a proper wide midfielder.
M-K Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Moyes has to be the worst managerial appointment ever. I know there are a few other possible candidates for that title, but has anyone ever crashed the bus quite as emphatically as Moyes? Souness at Liverpool wasn't this bad, was he? He's taken on a team that absolutely cruised the league last season, that won five of the last seven titles, and he's turned them into mid-table mediocrity. Spending huge money on a player who can't play in their team (is Fellaini dead?), shipping out the previous manager's expensive young winger so he can continue to pick Young and Valencia, buying a showpiece midfielder when he's already got somebody in that exact position who he has no idea how to use... Most clubs would have sacked him, but somehow he gets given even more money to throw away.
Audax Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Interesting point is that Gus Poyet took over for Sunderland about Oct. 7, they did not get out of the relegation zone from what I know until their win last Tuesday/Wednesday, today they win again, that is 2 wins, 2 draws in their last 4 matches. Good job, now they are looking good. Fulham last with 19 but the pack hasn't pulled away but they have been lacklustre indeed. (all of these stats off the top) Fulham is in dire straights but nonetheless, the clubs are tight enough, they can't be ruled out from escaping.
Guest Norbert Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Wonder what the summer will bring if they fail to get into the top 4? Will the Glazers stop taking so much money out of the club and go for broke with big signings? Or will Moyes be starved of cash, and then sent home? Moyes is very much like Souness-not equipped to follow a legendary manager who had jumped ship when a whole squad ran out of legs at the same time. I doubt he'd win the league if he was chosen to replace Mancini though. He probably would have kept Tevez, dropped players like Zabaleta and Yaya Toure for Rodwell and Osman.

M-K Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS That kean kean is the worst ever Yeah, he was our very own 'special one' but I think Moyes out-keans him. Rovers were always walking the tightrope after the trust pulled the plug, but Man U won the league by 11 points. Now they're five points off a Europa league place, and the club's whole rotten business model hinges on them being successful on the pitch.
Stuart Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Yeah, he was our very own 'special one' but I think Moyes out-keans him.Not a chance.Kean me, Rovers fans have short memories.
Guest Norbert Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I agree with Stuart. Kean tried to take us down in half a season, succeeded the following season, alienated all the senior professionals, replaced them with all sorts of tossers, helped certain associates make millions at the clubs' expense, turned the media against the fans when they protested with the help of the same certain associates, created a poisonous atmosphere on match day and left us with many players still draining massive wages for nothing. Unless Moyes fails to get in the top 4, and the lack of CL money causes a Portsmouth sized collapse, he does not come close.
Leonard Venkhater Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Not a chance. Kean me, Rovers fans have short memories. OMG..It is like comparing a shoplifter with.... a war criminal. ...Perhaps one day Kean will come, p***ed, in the Middle Eastern sun to find "roadworks" outside his house. Then he would get bundled into an Intack van and secreted back to The Station Pub for a show trial... In my more paranoid moments I did actually think Kean was taking us down deliberately.
Backroom DE. Posted February 2, 2014 Backroom Posted February 2, 2014 If he had planned to take us down deliberately I'm not sure what he would have done differently.
davulsukur Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 If he planned to take us down, we would have probably survived. Wouldn't trust that bloke to open a can of beans.
Darwen Rover 007 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 One of the happiest days of my life when he went!
Waggy76 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 If Moyes was sacked today , he would still be employable in Britain... Unlike Kean who is now plying his ghastly trade in the Singapore league ,...cos no one else will touch him with 2 barge poles.

M-K Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 You've had a shocker M-K Bear with me, there's twisted logic at work here. The Kean situation was almost inevitable after Venkys took over. Joke owners and joke manager went hand in hand. Also, Kean took over a side that was five points off the relegation zone and had lost 3 in 5 games. Moyes has taken over a side that won the league with games to spare. Even if you assume Allardyce's position that December was false, and he would have turned it around, look at the swing in points from his last full season to Kean's relegation - Kean knocked 19 points off us. Moyes has already swung 24 points off Man U. Sure, Moyes would be employable again but never at a (former) Champions League club.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted February 2, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted February 2, 2014 I think you need to have a lie down MK.
Amo Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Considering the legacy of expectation and success established at Man. Utd by its predecessor, Moyes' reign thus far certainly ranks up there as one of the most disastrous in recent times. I expected there to be a transition period but I never imagined Moyes would derail things this badly. Despite Kean & co. doing their darnedest to take the club down, we were only relegated by six points. Not to mention, many of our fans were fond of reminding us that Lord Samwell of Allardyce was the only one capable of competing this club in the PL. So looking at this from a purely footballing point of view, ignoring all the off-field corruption and politics, I think MK definitely has an argument.

But not on a Blackburn Rovers message board given what's gone on in the last 3 years.
Stuart Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 I think MK definitely has an argument. Yes, with a lot of people. Just watching the highlights show. Lallana, Lambert and Rodriguez all scoring in an away game, with a clean sheet. Fulham were poor but that's as close to a perfect result as you can get.

Read that again, give your head a wobble and make good use of the edit function before that goes in messageboard gold.
thenodrog Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p79lkXN4Daw Link to video of Maureen's moan and Big Sam's reaction, superb! Unbelievable! Mourhino is a rich mans Allardyce. His negative tactics are precisely why Abromovich binned him last time. It'd be interesting to see WHU and Chelsea swap managers!
