You had me until you said charismatic. Can't stand the guy. Guaranteed turn off the tv personality

His overwhelming hypocriticism really annoys me, loved Allardyce's reaction to when Mourinho had a whinge after the game.

Joke Kinnear has left his post of D of F at Newcastle. Pardoo won that battle then. Maybe he has dementia problems after all.

Poor old Joe. I know his Newcastle days were rightly fraught with ridicule and he really didn't help himself. But his tale is a sorry one and although he was a bit ott, his type are a dying breed in football nowadays. When football is as sterile as a Detol sales reps house we'll look back on characters like Kinnear favourably.

Probably either told to leave, or had health problems. He was completely out of his depth with the way football is now, and was brought back to annoy Pardoo after he signed that 8 year contract.

Indeed. But would you want him turning up here patrick?

Mourinho wanted out of Spain, he wanted out of Italy earlier.

Mourinho likes England and vice versa, I know that's not everyone but a lot of people wanted him to be the manager of England as well, but he strung along the press. He may one day manage England but not before Portugal.

So why are Chelsea still only in 3rd place?

We shall see at the end of the season. Like for like with last season and they are miles ahead at this stage.

This time next year you will see the real Chelsea, they are missing a top class striker, with that in place can't see any team beating them.

I sincerely doubt Mourinho will manage England. The FA don't like controversial, difficult managers and will always go for the easy option - even it means throwing vast amounts of money at them. Any organisation that can appoint the likes of McClaren, Keegan and Taylor is not going to allow Mourinho through the doors. I don't like Mourinho and sincerely hope Chelsea do not win the title this year but you have to hand it to him last night - he got his tactics spot-on and made City look very ordinary indeed. A 3-0 win would not have flattered Chelsea.

Has Laudrup gone, or just the coaches?

I did read they were changing the backroom team, but no-one has mentioned whether Laudrup has been involved in the process.

EDIT:Nope he's gone as well. Gary Monk is the massive favourite to take over according to oddschecker. He's still a player though I believe and there seems to be fewer player/managers nowadays.

Breathtaking decision by Swansea, but looking at the Chairman's outstanding record there you have to give him the benefit of the the doubt. I guess that Laudrup would not commit was the issue, along with the bad results. I can see the sense in that. When Hughes was looking for an exit it really caused us a lot of problems.

I will watch this one with interest. You get the feeling a lot of players went there because of Laudrup. Garry Monk is going to have a lot to do.

Swansea are yet another club recently promoted to the PL that have delusions of grandeur and ideas above their station.

All that praise about 'nice football' has gone to their heads. I'm not actually that surprised Laudrup has gone. There were all kinds of rumours over the summer about Laudrup, and an agent. Also, their record since winning the League Cup has been wretched.

That's a ballsy move firing Laudrup. He is definitely a good manager, but Swansea have gone a bit stale.

I think this could hurt rather than help. Replacing a reknowned European football figure with a club stalwart may give the fans a boost but I doubt it will the players.

All this days before the South Wales derby too.

Who knows what's been going on behind the scenes but on the surface this seems a terrible decision by Swansea. Unless they get the appointment right (which to be fair the chairman has done 4 times in a row) they could well plummet down the league. Cardiff and Swansea both to get relegated ?

What a shame that would be ;)

Given the amount of possession Swansea usually command I'd suggest signing Berbatov might have served them better than potting Laudrup.

  • Backroom

Swansea have been horrific ever since they won the league cup. Without Michu they struggle massively.

I think there's more to it than just results though. Laudrup seems to have made it quite clear he planned to be off in the summer, so perhaps they felt that in order to get some proper stability and unity they needed to remove him. It'll be interesting to see who they go for... Dyche? ;)
