Ewood Spark
Thanks for clearing that up one and for all. Patently Allardyce didn't hear any booing against Wolves. Gordon must be wrong. Gordon was most definitely correct ... the idiotic booing for the last 10mins of the Wolves game was one of the most counter-productive incidents I had ever witnessed at a football match ... up until THAT must win game against Bolton. Ironicaly it almost certainly helped paved the route to managment of of a certain Steve Kean.

M-K
As a fan you pay to watch two teams play within the agreed rules of the sport. There's no guarantee of entertainment. A sporting contest is about winning first and foremost, entertainment shouldn't ever be part of a game plan. I know there's no guarantee of entertainment, but if you consistently fail to deliver it then you can't expect the fans to be happy. Sam's teams are rarely entertaining, and when he does get a decent result he's so arrogant and full of himself that it's hard to warm to the guy. That's why he gets booed, and why most people apart from a few wistful Rovers fans really can't stand him.
Audax
That win though for the Hammers comes close to sealing their survival this year and they've had to worry and deal with that almost every year and looking at their recent managers: Zola, Grant, Curbishley, Pardew... whomever said Sam virtually assures survival is absolutely correct. If they don't like Sam, let that club go down but it will be too late for this year.

Sam didn't hear any boos though. Even though once again the context is ignored.

There are very few circumstances where booing a winning team is acceptable, imo, and West Ham's situation is nowhere near excuse enough for such behaviour. M-K
They didn't seem too bothered when they were getting promoted to be fair. I beg to differ! He was an extremely unpopular choice, and a lot of fans hoped he'd be replaced by a more suitable manager after promotion. At random, from the comments section in the Telegraph's story about Sam replacing Avram Grant at WHam: "Its gonna be route-one over-physical dirty football. Im not sure i really want to watch my beloved team next season" "This is great news for every other football fan in the country as it means that this deluded, dull, dreadful plonker won't be ruining their clubs." "West Ham might end up bouncing back to the Premier League under Allardyce, but most fans will have turned their back on their new hoofball team long before that happens" So they've been looking for an excuse to get on his back for a long time. I expect he'll be gone in the summer. Maybe he could swap jobs with Moyes.

thenodrog
Some quotes from Allerdyce :- "I've never been in a place where I've won and got booed," said Allardyce, 59. "Fans affect players. "We don't need them on players' backs when we are coming off three defeats. They have to stay and help them win." He added: "At half-time, the players were talking more about fans booing them than the game. I had to make sure they kept focused on the field. He should have a word with some of the trembling community on here ... does he not know that fans booing has absolutely no effect on the teams performance? Different if it's just aimed at the owners and assorted grovellors. btw ES are you and Steve Kean in regular contact? Shame how it didn't quite work out for him here wasn't it? Ewood Spark
Different if it's just aimed at the owners .... Course it is Gordon ... you keep on believing that a poisonous atmosphere doesn't affect the players ... but me thinks you are feeling a teeny-weeny bit guilty that you might have relegation blood on your own hands ... Utter tosh. Relegation blame should be squarely aimed at Venkys, Kean, and agent SkyTV. Venkys for firing Allardyce. Kean for being an imposter of a manger, and agent SkyTV for loading Rovers up with dross both on and off the pitch. WHam wil not fire Allardyce. He will keep them in the land of milk and honey. With a new stadium coming soon that's what they need.

Al
Moyes lost a lot of respect in these parts with his comments regarding Kean. God knows what he was thinking. However he is genuinely a decent bloke who has few airs and graces and has worked hard since coming south to North End. He was a somewhat limited centre half but very respected amongst the other players and made an easy transition to assistant manager under Gary Peters, then manager. He has done very well for himself ever since. It's all gone badly wrong now though and his failure to spend well and attract Fibreglass or a top quality alternative, plus injury to RVP, added to the unprofessional nature of the chase for Fellani and Baines, coupled with his low quality support crew, early season moaning about referees and bad luck have all seen him appear Ill equipped and unprofessional. And more importantly have all helped internally and externally further erode that air of invincibility lost when old red nose wrapped up. Suprised at Moyes. Thought he was better than this. He has lost a lot of his early fire and strength and looks lost on the touch line and in front of cameras. Moyes is a winner who has won little. They needed someone with a few trinkets already behind them. Never liked Moyes since he crapped on PNE. His comments re Kean just confirmed it for me. jim mk2
And this strawman argument is an attempt at misdirection and deception ... Check out my historical posts on the subject and you will see that my argument has always been consistent ... Fans have an important part to play on match days. How they choose to 'support' the team has consequences. Simples. Supporting a team is fine but fans know when things are not right on the field, they know a bad manager when they see one and they know when a team is heading for relegation. Seeing as other ways of protesting are against the law these days, fans feel helpless and booing is one of the few ways they can show their displeasure.
