Surely we should want clubs to go down that would pose the least threat to potential promotion chances next season?

I think Wigan would really struggle if they went down. Villa have got a core of young players that they could probably hold together, most of them with lower league experience, so I think they would be a threat.

Good point , you don't want both Villa and Newcastle getting relegated ...

Ideal world QPR (doomed I think ) Reading and Wigan ..

Villa and Newcastle would go back up automatically in my view and we would be in the play off lottery along with 12 others ...

I'm not so sure about Villa going back up. Their few decent players will probably move, and Randy Lerner has been really tight since O'Neill spunked all that cash. The fans are unhappy and demotivated, dislike the manager and the owner (sound familiar?), and frankly the club are still in shock about being so poor. Villa are in trouble, and I can see Lerner really pulling his money out of the club if they go down.

But if we were to win promotion it'd be a lot easier to stop up without the teams I listed.

Hahahha, Villa/West Ham game getting absolutely slagged off at half time as a dreadful game. The pundits are actually saying there is no point saying it's been anything other than abysmal. They were sarcastic about having to through the 4 minutes of added time and reminded their viewers theirs only one half to go until the United game.

What do you mean? Just pointing out what is happening in the Premier League. Couldn't do yesterday as I was at the Rovers and then out in the evening. Today there was one game going on when I was online and it's a reaction I've not really seen from foreign pundits before. They were mocking both teams.

In other Prem news Giggs has now scored in every Prem season.

So why was it funny ?

Do calm down.

It was funny because you should have seen their reactions. They were showing the Villa misses and laughing, then one said 'they are clearly trying to score' and the other said 'are you sure' and they were generally just mocking both teams for their ineptitude. It's not something I've ever witnessed with punditry as they usually big up games as much as possible so people don't turn over, even if it's obviously an awful, awful game. You get the odd time when Lineker says something about it not being a classic, but that's about it.

I want Villa, QPR and Sunderland to go down. I think QPR, Reading and Wigan will go down.

The Southampton result confirms that Mancini is over rated and only got the job because he's Italian. Yes he did win Serie A a couple of times, but Inter were poor in Europe, and are one of the biggest teams there. Mentally, the squad Man City have is weak, especially when Kompany and Yaya Toure are out. Nasri, Barry, Tevez and the recently departed Balotelli are all not up to the task of being Europe's best, and are over priced and over rated. And I still don't know why they got rid of De Jong. That was up there with Benitez forcing out Alonso.

This was their summer to buy big as champions of England and state their intent to become a European success too but they didn't. They let players go and didn't improve the squad. We saw how that went at rovers but city didn't heed the lesson.

Fascinating.

I'll go back to reading the informative and entertaining Sunday broadsheets.

Congrats Nigeria, they won the African Cup of Nations.

All I can say is they won it with their coach Keshi, Native Nigerian, the coach who has been maligned, who took Togo to the World Cup only to be sacked shortly before they went to that World Cup in 2006.

I stopped watching the competition after the group stages as the standard was poor. It was much better last year. I was rooting for Zambia too, as it's where a close friend of mine's family is from. Once they were gone there wasn't much to keep me interested.

They may as well hand the title to United now.

As for relegation, it will be 3 out of the current bottom 4 for me. Can't see Newcastle getting dragged into it with players returning from injury, and I fancy Southampton to survive.

I wouldn't say Norwich or Fulham are entirely safe yet. There is usually one club that gets sucked down near the end and neither of those teams are in great form.

Liverpool will rue the day , they sacked Dalglish and appointed Rogers ...

He is a rabbit caught in the headlights !

I said this at the time , not just jumping on the bandwagon ..

I don't think they'll rue that first part, tbh.
