I think that's crediting him with too much intelligence. He's a basket case, you could see the penalty incident had flipped something in his brain because he was just walking round jabbering away to himself with a look of disgust on his face.

He is a basket case though that doesnt mean to say his agent or close friends may have advised him to do something stupid so that he had the ready made excuses to get away in the summer are there.

Btw, why on earth hasn't Michu been included in the PFA Player of the Year Award?

Anyone would think the PL is elitist or something.

Would they have told him to bite his opopnent to get him a move from Ajax? The man is flawed, a great player but all the anger management bullsh** in the world won't change him.

It's pretty pathetic for him not to be nominated, but not unexpected.

It was a great goal. Almost makes the fact that there wasn't a whisper from the commentators about him being offside for his hattrick goal.

Almost.

Someone wants to tell united fans that tonight is a good night for them

Its like a library it seems but I suppose it being such a forgone conclusion has killed it a bit

Desai will be delighted - extra installment from Phil Jones deal now due which has just covered one month's worth of losses.

Maybe not....

@sportingintel: Blackburn #Rovers due £2m bonus when #mufc win title as part of Phil Jones add-ons. But only if Jones played 50% of games. And he hasn't.

For argument's sake, was Suarez's bite any more scandalous than a (deliberate) studs up challenge? Souness had a nerve deriding Suarez for the bite considering some of the cowardly tackles he pulled in his time. I guess it was different back in t'day, eh? You weren't a man unless you mangled someone's shins.

I think it's more the type of incident as opposed to the potential damage caused. Tackles - even studs up ones - are part of the game and have always been. Though dangerous, they're generally done with the intention of winning the ball. Biting somebody is savage and in no way relevant to playing a game of football.

Admittedly, it's less vicious than say, punching someone in the face... but then you'd get a lengthily ban in that circumstance as well, not to mention a likely police visit.

Well as a footy player, you sign up for potential injuries from nasty tackles (their all prozzies anyway), but you don't sign up to be eaten by Hannibal's understudy.

That doesn't change the fact that many have no intent to win the ball and are solely aimed to harm an opposition player. That's plain assault and can finish careers. Is Suarez's chomp more news-worthy than your average malicious challenge in the PL?

Which tackles are you talking about here? I'd argue most tackles are intended to get the ball, but players are just reckless and go into the tackle without caring about who they have to go through to get it. There are few cases where you can conclusively prove a player was going in to purposefully injure another (Keane on Haaland is one that springs to mind off the top of my head, though that was obviously a while back).

Suarez banned for 10 games...the FA are clearly trying to send a message, but surely his ban for racist abuse should of been at least of equal length?!

Why is nobody surprised about this?

I don't really have any issue with the FA banning Suarez for 10 games, but the decision making process itself is a joke.

If the ref had taken action against Suarez, the FA would not have intervened. The only reason they did was because the ref missed it and there was a media outcry. With this bizarre logic in mind, surely the FA panel should only have the same power as the ref in terms of banning players - basically, 3 games at most?

If the ref had sent Suarez off, his ban would not have been extended (based on past FA decisions, anyway). So how do the panel justify a 10 game ban solely on the basis the ref missed it? That's not the club or player's fault so in theory they shouldn't be punished for it.

Not saying I disagree with the ban itself, but the application of logic at the FA is seriously flawed.

If this was an isolated incident it would be harsh. Fact is Suarez has been on probation since the Evra incident, and therefore they've come down hard on him. Rightly so, his behaviour is appalling.
