Clitherover Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Why so gloating? Wigan offers something different to the PL with their attacking style of play and both Martinez and Whelan are class acts. I can easily think of 10 other teams that I'd rather see go down.Their fans were gloating after the game when they sent us down last season if you remember? Celebrating as if they'd won something when their safety was ensured some time before the match.

Guest Norbert Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 They'd all eff off and support Man Utd etc. if Wigan collapsed like we have. Whilst it is good to see a club 'punching above their weight' and surviving in the Premier League for so long, there probably are gloating latecomers who only started going to matches when Martinez got them to the premier league.
Clitherover Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 True but Jewell got them to the Premiership, Martinez kept them there.
Guest Norbert Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yes, you're right. Shows how much notice I've paid to Wigan over the years. They'll be back to their egg chasing next season.
ABBEY Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 why? the rugby fans hate the footy fans and the footy fans hate the rugby fans.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 13, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted May 13, 2013 They indeed were ,before as well. 'You'll never play us again' they sung at the final whistle- is that right pie munchers??
ABBEY Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 'You'll never play us again' they sung at the final whistle- is that right pie munchers?? Don't know about that ,, I was fending off a truncheon then ha
Backroom Mike E Posted May 13, 2013 Backroom Posted May 13, 2013 True but Jewell got them to the Premiership, Martinez kept them there. Also Steve Bruce for a time.
Audax Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Looks like the Man City situation is up in the air, I"ve heard a "no" has come from Perregrini. What surprises me is that the BBC took up the "Mancini is going to be sacked" story line. I can understand letting Mancini go but I can also see the argument for keeping him and with SAF retiring, maybe more reason to keep him. ------ Paolo DiCanio said he is going to change "everything" at Sunderland over the summer.
KyleBRFC Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yep just gone now, Brian Kidd to take temporary charge. They say club "failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year" with exception of CL qualification
Backroom Tom Posted May 13, 2013 Backroom Posted May 13, 2013 Go on someone say Kean for City it will be a pretty original joke
thenodrog Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yep just gone now, Brian Kidd to take temporary charge. They say club "failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year" with exception of CL qualification I suppose then that City's poor showing in Europe was the kicker for him cos as far as the big clubs are concerned CL qualification is the be all and end all. The FA Cup Final result itself was not as important as the humiliation.
Sparky Marky Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Unless Mourinho is coming in then a bad move in my opinion...especially with old red nose going...
KyleBRFC Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 In my opinion he wasn't good enough anyway always in the group of managers below "world class" and it has shown in hes last two season in CL
Aberdeen Blue Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yeah not great in CL but with no track record meant they got shitey groups each time. Do you think any other English team would have got out of Citehs group this season?
Salgado Is A Hero Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yeah not great in CL but with no track record meant they got shitey groups each time. Do you think any other English team would have got out of Citehs group this season? If you've got a hard group, you need to take maximum points off the weakest side in the group, Villareal and Ajax in this case. They won 1 of those 4 games. His record at Inter proved he wasn't that good in Europe. This is a good decision imo but time will tell. But to answer your original question, no I don't think any other team would have gotten out of that group. United probably would have won at least 1 game though. I find this Utd chant pretty amusing - "Keep singing 6-1, keep singing 6-1......six games in Europe, you didn't win one" Unless Mourinho is coming in then a bad move in my opinion...especially with old red nose going... There's other quality managers in world football you know.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I forgot you can only like one sport. I like both, don't you go watching Rugby League matey, you wouldn't be able to stand the excitement.
Amo Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Surrendering the title, being unceremoniously dumped out of Europe, and winning no other major silverware was simply unacceptable for a club with such rising expectations. I think Mancini had taken them as far as he could.
Guest Norbert Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I like both, don't you go watching Rugby League matey, you wouldn't be able to stand the excitement. Don't start that inverted snobbery again............
