Well done to Big Sam. Another top ten finish in the Prem, especially impressive with a newly promoted club.

But why have that when you can have Championship football, eh Venky's?

How dull would that be though compared to our now annual exciting battles against relegation?

I wonder if the boo boys v Wolves have got anything through their thick skulls yet? :wstu:

From Jamie Carragher's autobography:

When my leg was broken in an horrific tackle by Lucas Neill in September 2003, my mates were ready to hunt him down if I gave the go-ahead.

A few weeks later I received a phone call. "You won't believe this, Jay. We're in the Trafford Centre and Lucas Neill is walking straight towards us. What do you reckon?"

Did I really want Neill to take a crack? "There's only one problem," added the voice. "Little Davey Thommo is with him."

That was that. I could hardly let one of my best mates, David Thompson, now a Blackburn player, become a witness to an assault. Besides he'd have recognised the attackers. The impromptu mission was aborted and I sent a text to Thommo telling him Neill should give him a hug of thanks.

As word got back to Blackburn about the near miss, or should that be hit, their coach Terry Darracott, a Scouser, appealed to one of my friends to call the boys off. I agreed.

Classy guy...

Nonsense print to sell paperbacks, Carra was ace

Yesterday was quality. Watched it in a pub packed full of all different footy fans. Massive cheers when Koscielny scored, Bale scored, Scholes came on, Scholes got booked, West Brom equalised, when Nolan got a hat-trick and when the Arsenal game ended.

Carragher's a w*nker. I've seen that before but no wonder he asked his mates to help him. Lucas Neill would have destroyed him.

Got his name on it so why is it nonsense ?

You guys not think Mr Carragher is perhaps embellishing a little? Hes trying to sell a book for Christs sake, and hes smart enough to know what the public will lap up. His friends probably did call him up when they saw Neill but Ill bet it was idle threats said in jest. But if you word it nicely then voila! free tabloid advertising for your new book!

Besides, we all know that tabloid excerpts are edited to paint false pictures.

Carra would not admit to anything potentially incriminating. Give him some credit.

I doubt Carragher would know what is incriminating and what is not but his lawyers certainly do.

The book has Carragher's name on it, embellshed or not. If the story does not stand up to scrutiny then it is not worth the paper it is printed on and he is selling his book and making money under false pretences.

Your name is on all of your posts and 90% of them are embittered nonsense.

Carragher wouldn't write it would he? It'll be the work of some ghost writer using a bit of licence at the behest of the publisher. I doubt Carragher could write his own name.

Carragher acting a billy big @#/? eh? Even if that happened you can be sure that rather than be a 'witness', Thommo (and Neill for that matter) would've kicked the @#/? out of anyone trying it on over a tackle.

Just heard that Pulis has left Stoke. No link yet though.

He's definitely taken them as far as he can. He tried really hard to change their style this season by bringing in Adam and N'Zonzi and going more 4-3-3, but it failed quite badly. They were going down until he reverted to limited style that can keep them up but will never get them above the bottom half of the table.

He'll have no trouble getting a decent job somewhere else, he's doing fantastically well. In fact, if Venky's are wanting a rock solid appointment, he would be top of my list (although I imagine he will try and get a PL job first)

Expect him to be out of a job for a few months, then as soon as one of the Premiership strugglers sack their manager he'll be installed to keep that team up.

Could possibly see him at Sunderland when the inevitable happens and they get fed up of Di Canio.
