Clitherover Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I can see a repeat of what happened to Charlton after Curbishley left them at Stoke. Fans getting too big for their boots and expecting their team to be pushing for Europe every season. They'll be sorry when they're back in League One.

roversfan99 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Whilst I understand comparisons between him and Big Sam, the latter is a far better manager. Big Sams progress is much quicker, look at his first full year here (top half), West Ham (promotion then top 10 straight away), and on less money; Pulis has done well but he has had plenty of money, yet his signings are from a limited base. Pulis also struggles to implement technical players into his system, as mentioned previously. Adam, Tuncay, Gudjohnsen, even Crouch who can link up play were are poorly used, unliked Sam with Okocha, Djorkaeff and Anelka.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 It all depends on what Stoke do next. They have the advantage of not having lobotomised imbeciles running the club
Philly13 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Pulis has absolutely not done a magnificent job. They have the third highest net transfer spend in the league over the last few years, and still struggle near relegation
Clitherover Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Pulis has absolutely not done a magnificent job. They have the third highest net transfer spend in the league over the last few years, and still struggle near relegation To get an average Championship/League One team into the Premiership and keep them there comfortably is a magnificent job imo. This is the first year they've really come close to relegation they've usually been a mid table side.
Guest Norbert Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 That song with the line "They all fall like dominoes" is in my head now. Pardoo should be onto a winner in terms of his bank account. Had 6 years left on that contract.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Big Sam is currently the 5th longest serving prem manager
Guest Norbert Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Come on Arsenal, Villa, Liverpool, Norwich, Swansea and West Brom join the party and let's have all the teams have new managers.
bypass06 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Where the money went: Premier League prize and TV payments for 2012-13http://www.sportingintelligence.com/
ABBEY Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Pulis has absolutely not done a magnificent job. They have the third highest net transfer spend in the league over the last few years, and still struggle near relegationoh ok then Big Sam is currently the 5th longest serving prem managerthat's Rodgers, hes higher than that.
Ricky Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 He's been getting a lot of stick from their fans recently, who could well end up with egg on their faces like ours did. Pulis has done a magnificent job there and there's no guarantees his replacement will keep them in the division. It reminds me a bit of the Charlton fans who demanded a change when they felt that curbs had taken them as far as he could. Granted stoke have a lot more money than Charlton did but Newcastle, West Ham and QPR have all shown that money doesn't always save you from the drop.
ABBEY Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Ha the moose has blocked me for asking why his talkrubbish station isn't bigging kean up for any vacant jobs .
thenodrog Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Ha the moose has blocked me for asking why his talkrubbish station isn't bigging kean up for any vacant jobs . Well done Abbey. We should all be doing that across the press and media.
Majiball Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 So you can't own two clubs in europe and yet Man City have an MLS franchise with the Yankees????? WTF They'll be using that as a development centre for their kiddies, bloody farce and shouldn't be allowed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22615026
ABBEY Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Been into brazil and Merson too but no replies .. Everyone on twitter should oin them .
Stuart Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 So you can't own two clubs in europe and yet Man City have an MLS franchise with the Yankees????? WTF They'll be using that as a development centre for their kiddies, bloody farce and shouldn't be allowed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22615026 How does the Watford - Udinese thing work. Are they not owned by the same people?
Tyke87 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 watfords owners have them, udinese and girona (i think) that's how they got all their loan players without any fuss. I think the only problems they face are if 2 of their teams are in the same European competition.
Majiball Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 How does the Watford - Udinese thing work. Are they not owned by the same people? It would appear they do and also Granada in spain. I could have sworn that some arab tried to buy another club and was vetoed as he already owned one. Maybe I'm mistaken? http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/dual-ownership-of-football-clubs.htm You can own two clubs but they can't play in the same competition so watford, granada and udinese can't all play in the europa league for example. I found this paragraph interesting: FA Premier League RulesUnder the FA Premier League rules an owner of a football club or a director of a football club must adhere to the fit and proper test and must sign a declaration that they comply with this test. The fit and proper test applies to all directors and individuals holding over a 30% shareholding. It implies that the fit and proper person test isn't actually a test, you just sign something to say you are?
Guest Norbert Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Been into brazil and Merson too but no replies .. Everyone on twitter should oin them . They're probably in the pub, with Alan trying to teach Paul to read using all the labels on the spirits.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 oh ok then that's Rodgers, hes higher than that. Yep you are right Probably longest-serving Premier League managers (prediction for 1 June 2013)
Stuart Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Allardyce wasn't a PL manager on 1st June 2011 so you can knock a year off his time served.
LeChuck Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Allardyce wasn't a PL manager on 1st June 2011 so you can knock a year off his time served. It's just length of time with the club, not in the PL. It's an astonishing table. It does show that the idea of building teams over 3 or 4 years really doesn't exist anymore. It seems the best way clubs can hope for continuinity now is by being intelligent with appointments and bringing in managers who match the philosophy of the club. Swansea are probably the perfect example with Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. Jenkins has already said he has a plan should Laudrup leave. They're probably the model club for those outside the top six at the moment.
