There's absolutely no need for an audience on that show. They barely get involved at all except to applaud, which is ridiculous in of itself. It's not a game show and there are no variety segments. It's just two blokes talking and analysing highlights whilst people stand around looking mildly bored.

THey appear to have gone today.

And so thankfully has Jamie Redknapp....hope his absence is permanent!

The half-time and post-match analysis on Sky now has a studio audience. It looks absolutely dreadful - all these blokes standing around behind the presenters, self-consciously trying to avoid staring into the camera.

They've got to drop that idea, it's the most amateurish thing ever.

Wonder what the application for tickets would be like if it was advertised that Keanochio was due to express his wisdom during a game.

Southampton last night bagged Pablo Osvaldo for £15million. Spending some cash this summer, £15mill on Osvaldo, £12mill on Wanyama.

They only beat WBA 0-1 at the weekend but they were in complete control for the majority of the game by all accounts. Surprise package in the PL this season?

It would be a surprise if a team spent who has spent over £70m on players since getting Promoted a year ago did alright.

Maybe it's a special thing for their new Saturday evening slot. It's like a really dry version of Skinner and Baddiel - I half expected the ghost of Jeff Astle to come on and do a karaoke number.

Are there any good football pundits other than Gary Neville? Half of them are borderline retarded. MotD on Saturday had Shearer and Murphy, which was like televised valium, and the Sunday version had Gus Poyet who is pretty much unintelligible.

Apparently BT has Michael Owen, football's most boring man, as co-commentator. So glad I'm not a subscriber to that.

The shackles were off them a bit with the new manager and everything. I thought we gave a good account of ourselves until the sending off. We had threatened the goal. But after the sending off it was a difficult night for us really. It was a silly challenge from Tayls (Steven Taylor) and was a bit out of character for him and then we had to work and grind in the second half which is what we did.

Raised a few concerns with some on here when Bowyer started calling players by nicknames. Just on Skysports website and noticed that Pardew does the same (possibly not a great example)

Looks like Bale is on the verge of leaving. £93million plus Coentrao. Levy can certainly do a deal.

Mental. He's good but he's not "best in the world" good.

I'm sure he'll score plenty of goals in that two-team league though.

Darren Anderton is by far the dullest pundit knocking about....

Good old Sicknote. He's been an ex-footballer since the age of 21.

I wish they'd find a commentator or pundit who tells it like it is.

"Maybe he went to ground a little easily" > "He blatantly flung himself to the floor to cheat the referee"

"No disrespect to Stoke, but..." > "Stoke are dreadful"

"Never let it be said that Sam Allardyce teams don't play football" > "Bloody hell, the goalkeeper hasn't got the most assists this season"

Nearest we have is Neville. We need a pundit go all Clough.

Still outrageous but is it not £93m including him so likely around £75m cash

Article in daily Fail shows the potential spuds line up with all the new signings looks a good side but do they ever need to shift players can see really good players falling out wanting to leave

midfield potentially of

Lamella..Capoue..Willian...Paulinho..Chadli

not making the team

Holtby..sigurddson..Dembele..Sandro..Lennon

Bale is still there and parker/Huddlestone/livermore have only just left and they still have Townsend...insane squad, Bin the likes of Defoe and Adebayor that will never get you to the next level and sign a top striker to go with Soldado and that is some group of players

Not sure city or chelski even have that strength in depth..Arsenal fans must be distraught

Wilian is a forward isn't he? I think it's that strength in depth that will keep them up there tbh.

Lots of very good players with very good squad players is likely to bring more consistently good results than world class players with an average back-up player imo.

They need a CB for me. Kaboul is inconsistent and fairly injury-prone and I've never rated Dawson.

Villas-Boas doesn't rate Assou-Ekotto so unless Danny Rose is going to play there, they need a LB as well.

Not sure what player Willian is, I guess he can play in a lot of positions.

---------------Lloris

Walker ? Vertonghen ?

---------Sandro Paulinho

Chadli Willian Bale

-------------Soldado

Plus - Friedel, Kaboul, Dawson, Naughton, Sigurdsson, Rose, Capoue, Dembele, Holtby, Lennon, Townsend and Defoe.

Maybe swap Sandro for Dembele although I'm a big fan of both.

They do have a very strong squad don't they. No wonder Arsenal fans aren't happy.

Apparently Spurs are getting a LB when Bales moves to Real, Portuguese player who they signed for 20+ million and is very good.

Agreed on this. I saw them the other day and they have the potential to be very good but need a new central defender. Dawson is too slow. Rose is OK, but if Contraeo (sp?) arrives that will be an upgrade.
