Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 1, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted September 1, 2013 United were very poor today. I cannot understand starting a 40 year old Ryan Giggs in a match like that when the likes of Nani and Kagawa are fit and available. Moyes said he chose to leave Kagawa out of the squad entirely despite him being at full fitness, which is incredible. If United don't sign anybody tomorrow they will struggle this season, their midfield simply isn't good enough and Moyes won't squeeze every last drop of talent out of players in the same way Ferguson did. Exactly right. Was just speaking to a mate who's a long time united s/t holder and he was saying they've struggled in the middle since Keane cleared off.

davulsukur Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Even when they beat Swansea 4-1 at the start of the season, they didnt look great. 4-1 flattered them massively.
Audax Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Rodgers had a slow start with Liverpool last year and without Suarez whom they can't really trust to behave himself. Man Utd. can look at a few places for their weaknesses, tell you the truth, new manager, etc. Lacklustre indeed. So, this was MUFC's first real challenge under the Scotsman. --------- I'll add in other games, RVP by himself has torn teams apart.
RevidgeBlue Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 That Liverpool/United game was shockingly poor in terms of quality on both sides imo. Moyes is no Ferguson either, they should have gone for a manager of Mourinho/ Guardiola stature for me. Hopefully this is the start of the long overdue ManUre decline.
Audax Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Mark Hughes, Stoke, wins vs. Palace and West Ham yesterday, one loss to Liverpool by a goal. So they are doing well.

If United don't sign anybody I think that spells the beginning of the end for their dominance. I know people have been saying that kind of thing for years, but their current midfield + Moyes will not win anything major.

I hate United with a passion so I may be biased but it seems to me that they had no chance whatsoever of landing Fabregas and must have known that, especially after being definitively knocked back once so making a couple of highly publicised bids for him was little more than a PR exercise to keep the fans happy imo. Ditto the double bid for Fellani and Baines which Everton labelled as derisory. Hopefully the debts have caught up with them and they have no money by their standards. The continued inclusion of Giggs does nothing to detract from that view.

Moyes after match comments speak for themselves - the best United have played this season apparently and he's happy with the current squad and doesn't think any further reinforcements are needed. Easy to see why the Glazers were happy to hand him the job.
Al Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Behave yourself! On countless occasions, he's been brilliantly unbiased, and praised Liverpool and City. Who could forget his 'enthusiastic' celebration of Torres' while doing commentary on Chelsea vs Barca? BS
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 1, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted September 1, 2013 BSCite some proper examples of the bias then. Not just your perception of him as a one club man.

John Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 @BenSmithBBC: Bale has signed a six-year deal and my understanding is his wages, before tax, come in at around £300,000. Not bad
cn174 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 thank god for that...might be able to go a day without hearing his name!!
Stuart Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 @BenSmithBBC: Bale has signed a six-year deal and my understanding is his wages, before tax, come in at around £300,000. Not badI'm guessing that's a 'per week' figure?Abso-keaning-lutely obscene.

John Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 @RafaelH117: BREAKING: Cadena Cope confirms Ozil to Arsenal is DONE! 45m plus 5m in bonuses.
Batman. Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Just what they need, an attacking midfielder.
joey_big_nose Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Just what they need, an attacking midfielder.Ha! Agreed. Just don't get what Wenger has been smoking in the transfer market over the last six years. Never replaced Gilberto Silva and suffered for it hugely.
davulsukur Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Ozil is a class player, never thought arsenal would actually make a decent signing this summer.
Backroom DE. Posted September 1, 2013 Backroom Posted September 1, 2013 Get the feeling Arsenal have been pressured into that deal a little after their reputation has taken such a battering over the summer. Ozil's a good player but their problems lie elsewhere.
Audax Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 From Marca.com, Bale ya es nuevo jugador blancoi know Arsenal were looking at Benzema and Ozil. Sounds like they did well if they got Ozil. Kaka back to AC Milan.
neekoy Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Wenger has Flamini now to fill the DM position, Ozil plus a CF and RB tomorrow and my money will be on Arsenal for a CL spot again Plus what a funny team that Tottenham is.....love it Liverpool and Man U looked poor still think Man City or Chelsea will win the title. Can't understand Chelsea letting Moses go to Liverpool though
Batman. Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Spurs are weaker than last season, no doubt. As I'm sure every Rovers fan can testify, no matter if every penny is reinvested into the squad, when you sell your best player, you get worse. In 80% of their matches this season, if they had Bale, they would have had the best player on the pitch in their team. They've lost that now, and however much they might have 'improved' the squad, they've lost the one thing that won them so many matches last season. I expect them to be miles behind Arsenal. The press of course are giving them a good public blowing. This despite the fact they're yet to score a proper goal yet this season in the league.
Backroom DE. Posted September 2, 2013 Backroom Posted September 2, 2013 Agreed, When you actually look at the players Spurs have signed, there's no proper world class players there. A lot of potential, but most of those names (Soldado aside) are not hugely well known. The £110M figure is a bit misleading. Bale will be a huge, huge loss for them and in many ways he's irreplacable.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I would rather have Ozil in my team than Bale. He would be a cracking signing for Arsenal. I saw somewhere that no player in Europe over the last 3 seasons has more assists than Ozil.
