Indeed, how long before the 'Allardyce out' and 'Sam is not playing the West Haaaam way' comments start to surface?

Right now, the Premier League is like the Championship-anyone can get a result against anyone.

I must say I've never known the top 6 of the Prem so weak.

I agree, it is more to do with the weakness of the 'top' teams rather than having more really improved challengers. I mean Arsenal are top, and they have 3 good players, and 1 world class player.

West Broms win wasn't even a smash and grab they looked the better team for most parts by all accounts and clearly created a lot of chances

Old Fergie had a happy knack of getting players to play as a team and outperform their abilities. 25 years of that is truly remarkeable.

My mate's a Man Utd fan (not a plastic either cos he does come from Manchester) and I've told him for some time that if any of their players leave very few will be snapped up by anybody with aspirations to be Champions league semi finalists. RVP is about the only one. I like Moyes and he is cast from the same mould as Fergie but he has picked up a poisoned challenge imo and MU's immediate future is very much down to how he performs and whether he can step up to the challenge of replacing the 'great' man.

Felt for Torres. He was playing as well as he has in 3 years and his sending off was extremely harsh. Yes he scratched (strange) Vertonghen and probably should have gone for that. But his two yellows were harsh ludicrous.

Corrected for you patrick. Vertonan got away with murder. The ref should acknowledge that he screwed up but I doubt he will.

As for that scratch..... I suppose it replaces a good old fashuioned punch or head butt from the good old days BUT when are todays players going to realise that with dozens of cameras, slo mo replays and HD tellies that they can get away with nothing anymore.

He's a @#/? and it was hilarious seeing him walk off in a strop. Raising your hand to an opposing player is a red so he deserved to go, anyway, even though the ref sent him off for a different reason in the end.

The same Moyes who championed Kean and called us a disgrace for booing him? Yeah, top boy him.

Moyes isn't cut from the same cloth as Fergie, anyway. That's a lazy press cliché based on the fact they are both dour scotsmen. Fergie was a winner, Moyes is not. Ferguson never accepted defeat under any circumstances, Moyes clearly does. He will fail at United and it'll be wonderful to watch.

Why do you hate Torres so much? He's a top drawer striker imo... and a very unselfish one too. He's not flash and doesn't appear conceited either. Not only that but he's hardly a diver or cheater is he?

As far as Moyes championing Kean... they all did didn't they? Supporting fellow managers appears to be the prime directive of the LMA.

Where did I say I hate him? I just think he's a knob. Not a diver?

Try again  there's plenty more where that came from btw.

Your memory must be failing you Gordon. It wasn't just championing Kean, Moyes went out of his way to lambast the fans. He was the guy who walked out at half time of one of our matches in disgust, remember?

Moyes and Kean are big mates from Glasgow so it's no surprise he supported the great bald one. Moyes picked up a poisoned chalice at United for sure because how could anyone follow what Ferguson achieved ? He had to take the job though - offers like that only come once.

It's got to be the top 4 or 6 are not that strong but all the same,

The last two Premier League Champions lost yesterday to the likes of Aston Villa and West Brom.

The unexpected is happening a lot more than the expected this year and that makes this all interesting.

----------

Norwich started 7 home-nations players this weekend and won so good for them.

Atletico defeated Real Madrid yesterday which is great. Real has 3 big stars in Ronaldo, Bale and Isco. So yes, Real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated that league but others have certainly had their moments. Atletico won the Europa League a few years ago. And I guess Torres played for Atletico Madrid initially, then Atletico had Forlan.

what does that say about la liga then? outside of barce and real, the rest are ordinary to say the least

You clearly have not seen Athletico the last couple of seasons, Simeone is really taking them places they have a winning mentality and can challenge for the title this year and they will be dark horses in the champions league as well. Why none of United, City or Chelsea did not make an approach for Simeone is beyond me.

And not my club, there is a big fan of another one of the Spanish clubs here.

Here is an English-language fan website on the Spanish League. The writers are just normal fans, it's okay considering that's it is not even very current.

http://www.elcentrocampista.com/

Haven't seen enough of the League to really make an informed decision because Real and Barca often thrash the others in matches we see but not always.

Kagawa (Dortmund), De Gea (Barcelona) and Rooney (Chelsea) have all been linked to that quality of club recently. I'd imagine Rafael would attract similar interest if he was available. Man City have been sniffing around Januzaj on a free, despite having loads of ill-gotten money, so he must have some talent too.

Moyes has got no excuse at all. He inherited an excellent squad and is busy moulding them into a team that loses at home to West Brom and only scores from set pieces.

Maybe appointing a weak manager was part of the master plan. If they'd got Mourinho, like they should have, and he'd gone and won the treble in his first season it would have diminished Ferguson's achievements.

Personally I don't think the Gargoyle is up to it, at least not for a good while. The squad has a good base, and needed a few additions to really make them Champions League contenders. However, Moyes has ditched the entire coaching team that has been there for a while and replaced them with his Everton crew and a novice in Phil Neville. So the players will have to get used to a whole raft of new faces and methods. Everton did well for 10 years in being a top 6-8 team, but Man Utd and their aspirations are a whole level or two higher. I can't think of many of Moyes' backroom staff that have experience of that.

I think the inactivity in the transfer window will ultimately cost Moyes.

Not buying a couple of top midfielders was a massive mistake.

Moyes seems to be developing a bit of the "Steve Kean's" in his post match interviews too. Kean got away with talking crap because it was only at Rovers, but every word Moyes says will be under scrutiny.

Jimmy Lumsden looks like somebody's grandad just walked in and was handed a coaching kit.

It's embarrassing to see Moyes moan that United don't have enough world class players. Firstly you don't say that in public, and secondly he had the entire transfer window to do something about it and spunked £27M on the non-world-class Fellaini

Reckon he could be gone by Xmas if there's a break clause in the contract.

This season will be very open. Torres needs to play every game like he did on Saturday. He was excellent.

Suarez and Sturridge will be hard to stop.

Arsenal look steady.

City can't figure it out.

Spurs are solid.

Palace are doomed.

I have a mate who is an Everton fan. He used to moan like mad about Moyes saying that he never accepted blame for defeats. It was always someone else's fault. As I read over the weekend; Moyes tried for 11 years to get Everton above Man U. He's managed it in 2 months at Old Trafford.
