darrenrover Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Not many were too sad to see him dropped, before the injury. And there were plenty calling for it long before it happened. If you missed that then I'm sorry but feel free to read back, I can't do all the work. Who?

M-K Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 A "smug tool" who should still be our manager, or were you one of the imbeciles calling for him to be sacked when he was here ? He sucked all the joy out of Rovers long before Venkys turned up. Anyway, it's a personal thing rather than a reflection on his ability as a highly effective manager of rubbish, game-spoiling football teams. He looks like a bulldog who's been scolded for crapping on the kitchen floor - all sad face and 'poor me, it's not my fault' - but inside he's chuckling to himself because he's laid a monster turd in your bed.

I do confess that the Allardyce era made Venky's easier to swallow. Perhaps I should thank the big man for that?
donnermeat Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I do confess that the Allardyce era made Venky's easier to swallow. How so?
Audax Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Per Post # 2223; Darren Rover: They have been talking about Paul Robinson, BSA in fact, recommended him to the England team, must now be 3 or 4 years ago if I've got the conversation correct.
Plastics Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 How so? I'd already felt the heart ripped out the club. I'm aware many will disagree and they are fine to do so. I'm merely speaking for myself.
thenodrog Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I do confess that the Allardyce era made Venky's easier to swallow. Perhaps I should thank the big man for that? I'd wager that you were one of the ones to swallow all the bull they came out with back then hook, line and sinker. All that 4m pa / CL football shyte. Can I assume that you still support the Facebookers and the Wolves boo boys? There are none so blind as those who cannot see..... I feel I should put the word 'still' in there. I'd already felt the heart ripped out the club. If you think that then I don't think you know the true meaning of that phrase. There could be much worse around the corner cos of that lot you welcomed so eagerly. Time will tell.

All that 4m pa / CL football shyte. There are none so blind as those who cannot see..... I feel I should put the word 'still' in there. I wasn't one of those. That unnerved me, along with the superstar signings. I did consider Europa League to be a shout though. I was massively wrong. I imagine you're one of the ones who swallowed the bull that he doesn't play hoofball.
Audax Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It might be hoofing it but I don't know if that's always bad.
Plastics Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It might be hoofing it but I don't know if that's always bad. It isn't always bad, unless it's always done. Or vast majority at least. Anyway, old argument.
Audax Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It isn't always bad, unless it's always done. Or vast majority at least. Anyway, old argument. A lot of people just don't like Big Sam's style, true, old argument. Even some Hammers fans I think thought, once Allardyce got them promoted, they might get a different manager but West Ham ended up doing well last year and seemed to play attractive football against Tottenham in the last game. Some people have said England should play England-style in Internationals, some people say Germany beat England at the 2010 World Cup playing the long ball and this after Beckenbauer, in what was probably a setup made some sorts of snide remarks about England's style of play, still playing that old style long ball. Then Germany in a sense, played the same thing against them. Or at least it's been said.
thenodrog Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I imagine you're one of the ones who swallowed the bull that he doesn't play hoofball. No.... I wrote it. Bolton mixed it up as WHU are doing now, but a reliance on direct football with us then probably... but rem he was playing with a poor hand that he inherited after Ince and financial necessity had shorn the squad of it's best players. I know he gambled 7m on Kalinic in a late deal BUT you need to rem his first choice was Robert Lewandovski who was only put off by the fickle finger of fate when the no-fly / dust cloud situation and the deal was subsequently hijacked by Borussia Dortmund. If he'd turned up then Allardyce would surely have silenced the likes of you wouldn't he?

speeeeeeedie Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I can see the Allardyce points here. He equals dire but highly effective football. During his tenure at Ewood we were painful to watch at times. However - and here's the rub - not nearly as painful as watching shoddy Championship fodder. I'd have him as England manager. I think he'd be superb. I don't care about England playing attractive football, I just want them to win. He should last a long time at West Ham as the owners will stick their hand in their pocket now and again to spruce up the team.
donnermeat Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I'd already felt the heart ripped out the club. I'm aware many will disagree and they are fine to do so. I'm merely speaking for myself. So you mean off the pitch as well as on it then?
Guest Norbert Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24454963 Further proof that English (or British) football is a ridiculous, overblown mess that represents nothing but the egos of few rich men.
Backroom DE. Posted October 9, 2013 Backroom Posted October 9, 2013 Do Venky's finally have some competition?
Guest Norbert Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Nah, Cardiff got promoted. Perhaps if they went down, sacked McKay and replaced him with Myles Anderson as player/manager, sacked him after 2 successive relegations for Les Dennis for a week, followed by Bobby Gould then they could be compared.
Blue blood Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Agree not as bad as Venkys but still a highly stupid move. Undermines the manger, and puts someone in a key position with no experience whatsoever. Surprising really as this is their first decision which seems to have no benefit and a huge downside. Let's hope Venkys don't get ideas...

They seem to be on their way. Replacing the head of development with a work experience kid? does not bode well.
Majiball Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 as always the English press should hang their heads in shame as all they print are half truths.
Jimmy612 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 as always the English press should hang their heads in shame as all they print are half truths. Is this with regard to Cardiff? Is there a sensible explanation for the above? If so I'd love to hear it. Sounds crazy to me.
FGS5635 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 This could be keans chance to finally find empoyement
Amo Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 So Sunderland sacked one eccentric foreign manager with no PL experience and replaced him with another? What was it George Santayana said?
Stuart Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Was it, "you've gotta change your evil ways"?
