bob fleming Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Don't forget the might Go Ahead Eagles Philip! And the 4-2 defeat to Macclesfield - behind closed doors admittedly.
92er Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 The number of STs sold has been confirmed in a number of places The initial take on the STs sold was "in the region of 8500". Then 8000 seemed closer to the figure. The the article referred to 7000, which is the lowest figure I have seen.
broadsword Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Cant believe so many comments were withdrawn! Can't believe someone had teh front to write it, and presumably some sub-editor green-lighted it. Absolutely disgusting and the tame journo's have gone far too far this time.
The Prof. Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yesterday I wrote to the Guardian saying the Trust, John Williams, BRSIT, and Sam Allardyce might have a recourse to legal action for suggesting that Venky's had taken over a club left in a situation where Administration was possible - which at takover time it clearly wasn't. And I still think they have that recourse as it was published. Clearly the journo is not up to date on current journo practices or needs some further training. Here is the current version with the Rangers.Pompey bit still in. ]I would forward this to John Williams.
A cup of beans Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Can't believe someone had teh front to write it, and presumably some sub-editor green-lighted it. Absolutely disgusting and the tame journo's have gone far too far this time. Im not one for conspiracy theories, but.... IMO this article is definetly designed to distract and shift focus away from Kean and the owners. A put-up job if ever I saw one!
philipl Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Just spoken with the Press Complaints Commission. The wheels are in motion. The Guardian might be required by the PCC to publish a retraction but the fact there is a formal complaint sends a warning shot to the whole of the press to be careful when publishing articles of this nature. Hopefully the standard of journalism with regards to the entire dispute between the football club and the community of Blackburn should improve and nobody will write such unsubstantiated, inaccurate one-sided material again. We will see. We are certainly watching...
FourLaneBlue Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Others should also complain. I would comment on the article but The Guardian has not taken away my "commenting rights" without warning or explanation. The article was obviously commissioned by someone to portray Kean in a good light and denigrate the Rovers support.
The Prof. Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Baldy's in for an interesting time against Hull. Think I'll go now and give vent to my feelings. Tell me we've reached the bottom now. Please?
Clitherover Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Amusing take on ''that piece'' here. http://www.football365.com/mediawatch/8005667/The-Page-That-Has-Seen-Them-All-And-We-ve-Chosen-You?

The the article referred to 7000, which is the lowest figure I have seen. But hey 92er how about us having 8 (yes thats eight!!!) Corporate clients!!!???? That has to be a world record low for any football club outside Albania. 8, i mean come on - 8?????? Who is doing the catering , Mrs Miggins pie shop??? It gets more laughable by the hour this club.
philipl Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Presumably the 8 corporate clients is now 7 following the withdrawal by WEC. I believe one of those 7 eventually got a 90% discount on the amount they paid last year. Businesses are very sensitive to not being associated with "toxic" organisations- if they perceive linking themselves to another brand is going to damage their own best interests, they simply walk away. Looking at the Corporate Box windows will be quite a sport when Rovers play Hull- how many will be lit and how many will have warm bodies in them? And as for the comfy seats in the JW Upper....
Mike Graham Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Are the "Corporate 8" companies, or are they 8 people/seats in total? Maybe the latter as I cannot think of 8 corporate supporters last season. They can always give them Jack Walkers own lounge and seats as the Chicken people will not be using them!

That's not the reason that WEC pulled out, you'd have to ask Wayne on Twitter the real reason. Though the short answer is "bad communication".

John Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I said last season that already companies in the UK were distancing themselves from Venky’s as not good (for them) to be associated with them. Interesting that on Saturday no showing of discontent against the owners – consdiering they were present in the crowd it was a great opportuity to let them know what the true feelings are. Maybe Agnew and Kean could be right, a few good signings to keep some fans quiet…..

It's incredibly sad...the club we all love is dying a slow death.I feel so much anger and hate towards the incompetents ruining this age old club.

Not the best article ever, but doesn't it ultimately suggest what many of us are now waiting on - that results (or lack of) will finally see the back of Kean.
