Nicko sayiong that there will be info in the Mirror tonight...will be interesting to see what that info actually is.

There must be a chance that he gets this one right, he normally gets one right per summer............

Nick Harris said that many of the signing we made werent Kean choice.

But last season as gone.

So lets get back to discuss the Mystery striker.

You're quite right chaddy, I took it way off topic there with my post. Sorry. So is it er, erm

Philip Eno the Asian lad from Reading?

As in stated on other thread no striker at Brock

Hall and no mystery target,

The line I actually got "Nixon just another journo Blabbing away, about agent talk, and also rans" Rovers want quality and not has beens or never has beens"

Last time Nicko had a transfer first that went through I cant remember. I still remember him arguing with me about Yakubu and Dann 6 days before it happened and him claiming it was not. I also remember him saying Rhodes was not a target.

Cryer always on the ball regarding the transfers and far more reliable

Just rumours at present, but there are a number of people saying the samething. A PL striker being bought in on loan, is at Brockhall this afternoon.

Nicko must have some intel on who it is for him to be saying he is young and not very good. Let's see what happens this afternoon.

Its the "and not very good bit" part i would take with a shovel of salt, Nixon(Who is the ultimate definition of a tabloid Hack) could'nt spot a quality player even if it was a young Pele playing for the dingles.

To be fair, nixon did break the Kazim-Richards signing.

He has been fairly inaccurate with other stuff though.

That's an understatement, the guy's a complete clown.

Bob, I agree with your post about managers should be incharge of transfers.

but many clubs now have a team of people in charge and a manager has a say but not the final decision.

Yes, not the way I'd want it doing if I was the manager though. Can you see Ferguson going along with that? "look who we've bought Sir Alex!"

Kean probably didn't buy certain players last summer but I don't recall a single occasion when he didn't "big up" every single one of them.

agree. I couldnt have players bought for me without me choosing them 1st

but then manager like RDM at Cheslea and AVB at Spurs dont have final say on transfer matters.

Many? Doubt it Chaddy. I think the norm in this country is for the manager to instruct the scouts what he's looking for and for the scouts/agents to come forward with suggestions. That's nothing like what's been happening here, unless Keans instructions have been to find as many cheap Portugese midfielders as possible.

when I said many clubs, I meant european wide. Clubs in Italy and Spain have a director of football with a head coach.

Probably 3 clubs in the premiership have a system like that. WBA, Spurs and Chelsea.

Think one or two clubs in the football championship have that type of system like Watford and maybe Notts Forest.

I am inclined to agree with you, I do know Man U want him to either get experience or leave!!

The new Van Nistelrooy ;)

Said this last week on the transfer thread (after theyd signed RVP).

It'll probably be Delfouneso. If it is.. I'll be hounding him with "Burnley reject!" He's not as good as Jemal Johnson!

If Nicko gets this wrong I think its safe to say he's the worst sports journalist I have ever had the misfortune to read.

He's one of the worst regardless. Absolute clown shoe of the highest order an' all.

One thing about Nixon I'll always remember is when he commented on Rovers in the Walker Era and said something along the lines of "Tottenham and everybody else laughed when they heard Blackburn had bid for Gary Lineker and said he why would he go there and they couldn't afford him anyway. The truth was Blackburn could have bought Tottenham never mind Gary Lineker, they where the team to be reckoned with"

I'll never forget that.

nixon has always been a big rovers supporter in the sense he has a close affiliation with the club, don't know why people always knock him. He always gave up his free time to come on here and give us inside info, even if it wasn't always correct, the messageboard was a better place with him in my view

Yeah that was in "The Club that Jack Built", there are other great quotes in that like, "..I just love the job..". I always thought that video should be showed to the underperforming mercenaries we call players so they can see what passion is.
