broadsword Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 No, I think I said the torture gets more unbearable every week. I don't think Kean's departure has been hastened in any way. I think they'll stick with him for as long as he's at the club. I'll admit to being surprised at our start, which appears to be down to a large slice of luck covering up his gaping tactical deficiencies. I still don't think we'll go up though. so yes, torture of a kind. And I will moan, I don't give a toss what anyone thinks.

Rishton blue Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Just got back from the game. If we could play like we did in the first 25 minutes for the majority of our matches we'd cruise this league no problem, but the way our defensive game went after their first goal is a major concern for me.
A cup of beans Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 The Final Score clowns were all jizzing themselves because they thought the fans were chanting ' Keano Keano' when Gomes scored. Even I heard that it was 'Nuno Nuno', but Gabby and Robbie Savage were desperate for us to be praising their mate. I saw that too! and nearly kicked the TV in! Good as he is, as a pundit, Savage comes out with some complete Very Good at times. That was astonishing. Prefer Final Score to Soccer Saturday though, but thats a different topic . Our defence is an accident waiting to happen. So how did Rhodes do ?
cn174 Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Even I heard that it was 'Nuno Nuno', but Gabby and Robbie Savage were desperate for us to be praising their mate. ergh, not once did Rovers fans sing for kean - it was the leeds fans actually! We were well in control the first 35-40 minutes, looking quite good actually. Then we just sat back and invited pressure - why do we keep doing that when we can't defend for sh!t. Our defending was completely shambolic for the goals. Taking off Formica for Lowe caused many of the problems. Instead of defending a little higher we were now sitting deep. Also , how we miss El Hadji Diouf!! He was brill for Leeds I thought - got the ball, kept it, won a free kick, corner etc.

Quite well to be fair, nice touch and things like that and not as slow as some would have us believe. I do think he could do with a partner next to him though and not behind him like Gomez was today

Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 great post! Leeds are the new Wimbledon now! Long ball team! Didn't Leeds used to play like that back in the day? (early 90s)....I vaguely recall it and I'm pretty sure I heard Cantona mention it once.....they're a scum team anyway, them and Warnock deserve each other and it doesn't surprise me to hear of their dirty tactics today. Can anyone who watched the game give a summary of Nuno Gomes' performance?
Nobert Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 ergh, not once did Rovers fans sing for kean - it was the leeds fans actually! I'd have worked that out too, even if I was a neutral. I really ____s me off that he still has cretinous idiots in the media who still love him. You can expect it from drunken broken losers like Merson and Brazil, and the empty vessel's favourite station Talksport. But to hear sympathetic cooing from Gabby Logan and Mark Bright annoyed me as I didn't expect it from them. To the game though, once again we get off to a good start, then decide to completely ____ it up with a shambles in defence. Even Shabby Shingles could see that was not good enough, and must get on the phone to the village idiots.
Stuart Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Absolutely..it's often shameful on here these days. If you dare to say something faintly positive you're either a Mean groupie or his bumboy. Pretty out of order. And..just before I cop for some too. I'd like to see him gone too but I'm also pretty pleased with 8 points from the first 4 games. I can deal with winning ugly, once we start losing ugly that's another matter... Gotta love the somewhat Freudian Mean Groupie reference.
Parsonblue Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 A thoroughly entertaining game of football with a draw being a fair result. The Rovers played some superb stuff in the first half and Leeds came back in the second. I thought Pedersen was outstanding today and his link up play with Olsson, running deep from full-back, reminded me of Waggy and Bailey of old. On the minus side we are going to have to toughen up in this league. Free-kicks which were routine in the Premier League are not given at this level - the challenge on Robinson for the first Leeds goal would have been a foul in the top flight. Rhodes had a very quiet game but Gomes and Olsson both took their goals well. Rochina scored a neat goal but his decision making is awful - shooting from long range when colleagues had made decent runs in good positions. In defence we looked shakey as Givet was limping for much of the match and Hanley looked very unsteady when he came on. Whilst the second half was worrying, the first half saw the Rovers produce their best football to date. It must have been a decent match as the cries of "Kean Out" were very few and far between.
Gav Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Gav wrote: but it does seem criminal that we haven't strenghtened in defence Gav how many more times we signed late last night Nuno Henrique from Portugal he is a central defender and is 6'1" so as someone said is in the Samba mould but one mistake he made today was not even sitting Martin Olsson on the bench once they come in we should be fine. Interesting take on things, we need a left back badly, and more cover in defence for me, but Kean likes buying midfield players, thats not going to stop us leaking goals, 117 last season, 3 more today, we're terrible in defence, simple as that brfcrule.
John Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Need to give Colin Hendry time to work his magic on the team defending, when he is not drunk that is....
dwayne cage Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 So annoying Keans tactics, you would have thought he would have clicked they don't work by now. We must be the only team that goes 2 up against a weaker opposition and decides to retreat. If it was Man Utd and we was 2-0 up fair enough most teams would sit back but Leeds! Its a joke. Also from what I've been reading from people who went the match we are expecting Rhodes to create something from nothing like the Yak did. Most annoying.
hesfromburn Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 We shouldnt sit so deep, but after watching the replays I think we should have sold Robbo and kept Bunn, All three goals the defending was terrible, but for the first and the third Robbo was an absolute mess.
dubdubdub Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Judging from the radio... We were infinitely better than we have been in the first 40 mins, a bit more pace and intent behind our attacks with Gomes linking the midfield and attack well. Marcus Olsson seems a real threat at this level basically because he's quick and the opposition is worse than a lot expected. The referee had a shocker for both teams, most notably gifting them a free kick to get back into the game just before half time. We can't defend set pieces at all, Robbo must take at least some of the blame in that respect. In the second half; more dreadful refereeing allowed them to equalise and more dreadful defending allowing them to go in front. Yet more dreadful defending from set plays could have seen us go further behind. They had the better of the second half pumping balls up to Bechio while we had the better of the first finding Gomes' feet and getting it out wide to Olsson. Rochina has all the talent in the world but either no brain or composure to warrant being a starter. Rhodes didn't have a sniff of goal all game but did well holding the ball up, particularly in the first half. Again, judging from what I heard. I heard the majority of the first half but then watched the scores come in on Sky for the second. At least it sounds like we can play the sort of football you'd expect from us considering the players we have. I heard the first goal should have been a foul as well. Hopefully next time we'll keep it going second half too. You're always going to invite a bit of pressure away from home but three goals is a too much.
Stand & Deliver Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Need to give Colin Hendry time to work his magic on the team defending, when he is not drunk that is.... Even then he's probably not much cop. Great defender but seems a crap coach. I wonder what his coaching qualifications are? Probably none.
JC4LAB Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Another lead thrown with Keans naff tactics..Late in the season last year.we were once the Prems 7th best scorers but had leaked more goals than anyone else so we went down...nothings changed in tactics or adding quality on the pitch to stop us leaking the goals that costing us points and a premership place
Joe_Cullen Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Wondering if anyone knows where Martin was today?
Hekla Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Wondering if anyone knows where Martin was today? I'm guessing Kean will come out with 'his head wasn't right for the game' quote.
Backroom Madon Posted September 1, 2012 Backroom Posted September 1, 2012 Martin was sat in the same stand as the fans today.
frosty Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Wondering if anyone knows where Martin was today? Sat in the stands - him, Vuckevic and Nunes were sat in the bottom corner of the away end (albeit with rows of empty seats between them and the fans). Dunn joined them in the second half. I dunno if he's injured? Need to get him playing ASAP.
Rovermatt Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Kean is a fool. As long as he and his tactical incompetence stick around, this team is stalled.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Did you all get out of the republic of Yorskhire in one piece today then?
