KEAN OUT

Can't you just post it in the Kean thread. This is the thread for the game against Bristol City. It is becoming tedious.

Well done Rovers for a great victory today. I hope we can keep this up until Jan, and then we may well have to invest in some new defenders. Can't ask for anymore than top at the moment. Long may it continue.

I've been saying it till i'm sick of saying it but Kean is incapable of setting up a team to defend. Even in this league we are leaking goals like a sieve. In the end it will be our undoing.

Even 2 goals down with 10 minutes to go, no team will ever give up against us because they know they have a chance,

TBF Bristol scored really well worked and finished goals, im sure evey team hope not to concede goals, but its football it happens now stop clutching at straws to be negative and just SUPPORT THE TEAM.

Kean is completely incompetent and his luck will run out eventually.

We've been lucky to have at least half the points that we do do far and have been outplayed more often than not.

I'm just hoping that Venkys bite the bullet as soon as the form levels out, giving the new manager a decent chance of taking us back up.

Keeping Kean here will do more damage long-term than any possible good for him staying one minute longer.

Wow, when was the last time we scored 5 goals away from home, I can't remember any instances.

I can't tell you the most recent instance, but I did remember we scored 5 at Boro in the early 80's.

I went to Bolton in 64 when we won 5-0. And then I saw we scored 5 away at Leicester in the next game.

Our defence was playing premier league football last year, it comprised of Givet, Olsson & Hanley, all International footballers, a central midfield of Murphy and Etuhu, we should not be conceding three goals at this level of football, no argument, thats fact and we conceded the same last season too, how many games we conceded 2 goals plus? Something is clearly wrong with the coaching and organisation of the players!

My thoughts exactly - at the moment it is just a good start (points wise at least). Remember under Dalglish we were running away with the league at Christmas - only to just scrape into the play offs. This is a marathon - not a sprint - but hopefully the players will be regaining some of the confidence lost when we were relegated.

Didn't see the match - but listening on the radio - it sounded like we were largely in control of the match today. We are generally improving - but obviously the defensive frailties are still obvious.

I find it kind of sad that people can't seem to discuss the game without bringing the manager or owners into every single post. We are pretty much united on our opinions on that front so I don't see why it needs to be brought into the match threads when there's plenty of other threads covering those issues.

Only heard updates from today's game but Jordan Rhodes was getting a rave review, I look forward to seeing him in action. I firmly believe we've got more than enough firepower to get out this division with the likes of Gomez, Rhodes, Kazim-Richards & Rochina. Problems are obviously at the back, much like last season. Although quite frankly I'd rather us continue with an attacking outlook for the entire game because we look even worse and more likely to concede when we try to sit back and defend a lead. Don't know if that was the case today but going ahead so many times and then surrendering the lead seems to suggest that. I thought our defense might have been able to hold up at this level, but apparently not so far.

Despite everything it does look rather nice to see Rovers at the top of a league table. Two home games to follow in quick succession which should in theory give us a good chance to maintain that position.

Went to the game today (well its just down the road) and took 10 yr old so for his first real game. He's hopefully a convert to the cause and Dickson is his new hero.

I remember seeing Shearers first away game at Palace, and Rhodes has the same hunger and instinct from what I saw today - he plays right on the shoulder of the defender when it matters and is always looking for the through ball. The warm up in front of the Rovers fans before the game typified the match for me, Rhodes buried almost every ball past the keeper and looked gutted when he missed one. Peds hit the crowd morre than the net and didn't seem to give a toss, never seen anyone strike the ball harder and sweeter than Rochina, and in the match itself, he looked the part in the Nuno role, but nearly messed up his goal chance, a decent defence wont give him that many bites at it. Bruno looked sluggish in the warm up and all through the match, although didnt really do anything wrong.

The spine of the team looks very good indeed at this level, Etuhu was immense, the MoM by some distance for me, and with Murphy didnt really put a foot wrong all afternoon. The central defence look edgy, but to be fair to them, they never seemed to have an out ball to play. Here's the big problem, the flanks have no real pace, skill, guile or quality, Orr takes 2 touches to control even the sideways ball so has to go back inside or lump it, Olsson (Markus) hasnt the confidence to receive and take the ball forwards with purpose, and cant risk bombing past Pederson because the return ball could go anywhere. Pederson and Ribeiro were ok but no real outlet (other than MGP winning almost all the headers from Robinson's goal kicks) and have no real abillity to play a killer pass or beat their man. They play too narrow to be an attacking threat and dont really offer a defensive protection to the centre mid pairing (who based on today dont need it). Bristol's goals and their main threat was when the ball was moved wide quickly and pressure put on the fullbacks.

The self-destruct option was always waiting around the corner the way the deence is set up, and while there was one lovely passage of keepball midway through the second half, it predictably lost purpose and direction, Rovers lost the ball and a quick break put the defence under pressure. Need to do better against more organised teams as the run of ball seemed to be with us today and the fast pitch suited our game, a heavy pitch and rainy day would be way more testiing for Nuno Gomes in particular,.

Cant end negatively though, Bristol are no mugs and have scored 4 in each of their last 2 home games, Rovers gave a taste of how good they could be if they can get a better balance (why cant Simon get a run out for crying out loud) we cant rely on scoring goals by playing through the middle, the attack needs more width and the ability to cross balls, or play fast cutbacks, Rhodes will score for fun moving onto the ball.

What a crazy match. Exhausting being a Rovers fan at the moment! Rhodes & Gomes looked real class. Goodolsson is a welcome returnee. Even thought Murphy was better than in his previous outings. All in all, worth the 9 hour round trip (12hours for my designated driver from Scunthorpe!) and the £22.

Negativity tonight after such a fantastic match, what am I reading? Its been a thriller the buzz of supporting Blackburn Rovers was encapsulated today, I wasn't aware that supporting the team with kind words was essential for a message board though. Its great to be top of the league, its great to finally see some wins, but but but when you reflect on things the parallels with last season are still there. Last season the other teams had the quality to outscore us, in the Championship maybe the teams don't. We have a team more than capable of promotion and Jordan Rhodes wow just wow but why do we have to put up with the handicap that is Steve Kean?

Yeah if your not knocking Kean or Venkys you dont even talk about football. I dont give a ###### what you think to be honest, teams doing well im happy.

But apparently supporting Blackburn these days and enjoying wins and being on a unbeaten run makes you a 'dingle' or a 'troll'

Call me childish names all you want but I wont just change and follow your un-thought out views on my team.

Thankfully from my experiences 'fans' like you are few and far between, most are much more clued up.

And for the record I feel no pleasure whatsoever in being negative over our good start to the season, I just know better than to get giddy and act like the last 18 months never happened.

This is a terrible league and it looks increasingly possible our team could be good enough to go up despite Kean's management - and let's be clear, if we do get promoted it will be despite Kean, not because of him.

HOWEVER, should we go up there's no way Kean will be sacked. That means even IF we did go up this season, we'd just be in for another 11/12 nightmare season all over again. Except probably with less hope, less protests and more thrashings.

Happy days.

If you can't be happy seeing your club top of the League there is not much point following football. I thought we played some superb stuff at times today with some excellent performances from Gomes, Etuhu and Rhodes in particular. The way the players celebrated with Kean at the end shows that the spirit within the camp looks very good. Perhaps Shebby's attack on the manager and Pedersen has really brought them together. It's early days, but at the moment the signs are very encouraging.

I'm glad that you're able to forget everything that's happened so quickly Parson.

I haven't forgotten who is to blame for us playing in this crappy league in the first place. Nor have I forgotten the slandering and vilification of the fans over the past 18 months.

Glad to hear the spirit in the camp is good though. Hugs all around with Keano, good stuff.

Im clearly more 'clued up' than you! I'm not acting 'giddy' about anything, but some of you that only seem to be in the majority on this forum really are annoyed that we won under kean, If you cant enjoy your team winning or if you no longer feel you can what are you doing here??? what is the point?

Also ive not forgotten the last 18 months, but if Kean gets us promoted I wont be able to ignore the fact he got us promoted. If we had any other manager with the results and peformances we have had so far this season, even though bad at times perfomance wise nobody would be that bothered because football is about results at end of the day.

We're 5 games into the season. 5. It's been a good start but we've had a massive amount of luck in basically every game we've won so far. Even today we only won because we got two goals in injury time. All this talk about "being top of the league" is a bit embarrassing to me considering the stage we're at in the season and the fact we're playing in the Championship and the wages of our players dwarf 95% of the other teams in the league.

Maybe Agnew was right, perhaps it will only take a few wins for everybody to forget.

There seems to be a sense of entitlement to be in the Premiership forever among some people. We were only ever a bad manager away from being relegated and we got one, as did most other teams who've been relegated. Shouldn't have happened but it did.

I wonder if fans of Leeds, Forest etc post every day that boohoo they don't want to be in this smelly league cos it's not the premiership?

You can't live in the past though DE4life. The owners aren't prepared to sack him and it's clear that if we are going to win promotion we need to win matches. Yes, it's early days, but we've made a pretty decent start to the season in terms of points and that is what really matters. I've seen good managers and bad - and yes Kean is the worst I've seen in the last 50 years - but the only thing that interests me is seeing the Rovers win and return to the Premier League. We may well lose to Barnsley on Tuesday so for the moment I'm going to enjoy the fact that I've seen a cracking game of football and that the Rovers are top of the League. It might not last but I'll enjoy it while it does.
