[Archived] Mixed feelings about a positive start to the season

I think this was mentioned before the start of the season briefly but was just thinking about this after todays game against Bristol. We've had a real good start to the Championship this season, undefeated and top of the table but I currently find myself not exactly enthralled by this as I feel I should be.

I feel like if this carries on and we get promoted Kean will be hailed a hero and they'll have even less reason to get rid of him and everyone outside of the club will forget what happened previously and us Rovers fans will be ostracised even more by the media for being such terrible and nasty fans!

Anyone else feeling like they should be more excited about our decent start to the season but aren't?

I don't think anyone who was there today as the 5th goal went in couldn't have been more enthralled. We'd just seen an amazing game and we're top of the league. I just want us to keep winning games of football.

We need to go up this season and we've started the job off pretty well. It'll be interesting to see how we do trying to break down a team, really can't see Barnsley doing much more than defending and hitting us on the break.

Oh god yes, watching SS news, listening to Bas***ds scoring 5, then us......top, yet 8 points from 23rd, still won't go, still feel there is so much behind the scenes that disturbs me.....love the team in blue and white winning, want to watch, but despise Coco, where does it stop?

PS: just the surface of my mixed feelings!

If he gets us promoted with people like you ''supporting '' then it will be a miracle of an achievement !!

So we can all assume you aren't really that happy that your team are winning and top of the league then? Prefer to be where Peterboro are would you?

Get a life mate and start supporting Burnley

Why on earth would you criticise a post like that when you're apparently a former season ticket holder who is now boycotting games?

It's good that we're top of the league and we're winning games in spite of Kean - we need to go back up ASAP or we will be condemned to the lower divisions for the foreseeable future.

However, Kean being here will always leave a black cloud hanging over every performance and every result. The man and his cronies are too much of an odious presence around the club to simply ignore.

Well, for those of us with memories slightly longer than a goldfish anyhow.

If you can't be excited after today you really shouldn't be watching football. It was a cracking game with an excellent result. My only interest is in seeing Blackburn Rovers promoted and if Kean does that I will be very happy. Indeed, I'd like to see him win the Manager of the Month award for every month between now and the end of the season as that will mean we will be playing Premier League football next season! The club is far more important than any individual.

"The club is far more important than any individual" I've heard Steve Kean say that, maybe its time to resign for the good of the club....

You are correct if you can't get excited watching todays match you should give up watching football completely. I have to be honest though I would take losing a few matches if it meant that Steve Kean left the club as it would rejuvenate the entire club, unfortunately that isn't an option because results have never been the reason for his employment.

Ideal scenario: we win promotion, Kean says "I told you so", feels his reputation is restored, and some unsuspecting club falls for it and he moves there.

Will it happen ? Probably not but thinking it might helps with the ambiguity.

Or even better we win the league and venkys dump him for free with his contract up in the summer. The look on keans face when he finds out he isn't getting a new contract would be priceless.

I was enthralled today and excited, especially when that last goal went in so close to the final whistle as it meant we'd definitely got the three points and it was perfect that Rhodes, our "waste of money" as other fans call him, scored it too.

But I have that nagging feeling at the back of my mind that we are papering over the cracks. I think deep down all Rovers fans feel that but some don't want to admit it.

I was excited by the result and I was just following the live text feed!

We're yet to play any of the better teams yet. So we might be papering over the cracks for now. Defense has to improve, can't keep shipping so many goals. Our attacking options are frightening for the Championship though.

Today was phenomenal and I would actually like to give Kean some credit. He has constructed a team that is excellent going forward and never gives up. The problem, as always, is the defence. If he can't sort that out, promotion will be an uphill battle.

Then the question is why was'nt it sorted out in the transfer window after he wrecked it last year,Samba,Nelson,Salgado Nzonzi come to mind.

I find itt very easy to ignore Kean completely and just enjoy winning. I ignored football all summer and now find it refreshing and exiting to anticipate a game and winning. This is something which was missing for the whole of last season.

None of the problems have gone away but obsessing over them is not a good place to be. I can't help but feel those who have chosen to boycott are going to miss out on an exciting season.

Ignoring Kean and Venkys won't make them go away but then neither does anything else.

Can't help but feel like I've been misinterpreted there, I didn't mean I wasn't excited about today's game and at no point did I say I wanted us to lose. What sort of a fan would want that.

All I was saying was I feel like I should be on top of the world (not from todays result alone but the fact we're top of the league) and I don't feel that way for some reason. I don't know why, I just wondered if anyone else was feeling similar. Normally with a start to the season like this I'd be up on cloud 9 but for some reason I'm not. I don't know why but I can only assume it's to do with all the stuff going on in the background.

For one we all know assumption is the mother of all (Please don't use that word again) ups. I didn't say I wasn't happy, merely that I feel like given the situation we're in (football results alone) I should be happier. As for slating me as a supporter seems a bit hypocritical as a boycotter. Not saying I've got problems with anyone boycotting each to their own and I understand why people would choose to boycott just seems a bit weird you'd come out and have a crack at me for asking if anyone shared my opinion when you aren't there being much of a supporter yourself?

Carr we each have our own way of reacting. Personally I'm enjoying the season.

I haven't enjoyed football much for 18 months and it's good to turn up at Ewood anticipating a win. I now find it quite easy to divorce Kean and Venkys from the match. I'm still concerned over the future but I won't let it spoil my enjoyment of a game. Ewood seems a more positive place this season.

I'm not singing and dancing just pleasantly surprised we aren't struggling yet - who knows what will happen by Christmas.

It was very easy to become obsessed with Kean and to a lesser extent Venkys. For a lot of people separating the football and the management / ownership is impossible. I find now I have I feel much happier.

I've no problem with those who boycott etc. but I have switched off from every conversation which includes the words Kean and scum because you just know what comes next, again and again and again. The boycotters seem to have more of a problem with those who go than vice versa.

Still nothing to get het up about.

I think I agree with your sentiment entirely Paul and that's a great way of seeing it. Like I say I want us to win and have a great season there's no other way any supporter would want it. Just think I haven't managed to fully seperate the football and management yet, hopefully I will be able to soon.

I think being in Canada so not being able to go to any games for the past couple of years or even watch Match of the Day (or Championship equivalent) means the only exposure I really get is on here and other sites where every second topic of discussion is Kean or Venkys it seems so can be difficult for me to seperate them from the football.
