koi Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I agree....I would take Sherwood due to how highly rated he appears to be but Shearer should be a no-go imo, regardless of how brilliant he was as a player. +100 It sounds like they won't sack him until a replacement is lined up so we won't have any time to discuss potential replacements anyway.....so let's talk about potential replacements, as it's always an interesting debate. I think it says in Phillip Lahm's autobiography that the Bayern Munich players discussed between them how they would play etc as he gave no time to tactics....I remember reading about it. Yea here it is - "We practiced little more than fitness. Tactical things were neglected. The players had to get together before [the games] to discuss how we wanted to play. After six or eight weeks, all players knew it wouldn't work with Klinsmann. The rest of the season was damage limitation." Also found this from another website - Players publicly criticized Klinsmann’s tactics, claiming they were too offensive and naïve, and Brazilian midfielder Zé Roberto said one of Klinsmann’s half-time talks toward the end of his reign consisted only of, “You have to score a goal.” I can't really remember much of how his West Ham team played, but I swear Curbishley's Charlton side played some nice stuff....obviously getting promoted is the only real target but with the players we have at our disposal I'd love to watch us keep the ball on the deck as we do it. I've always been a fan of Curbishley and he's been usually been my 1st choice since Ince's reign clearly wasn't going to work. Didn't he win something like 10 out 11 games to escape relegation?
martonrover Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Shrinking by the hour! Nicko's not sounding so sure about him taking it if offered though
gazsimm Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Nicko as said on twitter he as got an update on todays events at ewood, but is waiting till later to spill the beans. Lets hope its good news and not Kean being given more time to ruin our club. The fans who are close to club who broke the news early in the week about Kean getting the sack have been quiet today, do they know something or are now waiting for an offical statement 1st!!
Uxbridge rover Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 If / When he goes, the press release had better not read, left by mutual consent. It's easier to get rid of AIDS than get rid of Kean.
Rovermatt Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Not only has he removed his blog, he's deleting everybody's tweets too Just keep posting your original tweet. That'll keep him busy.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Didn't he win something like 10 out 11 games to escape relegation? Curbishley? Had to check, he led West Ham to 7 wins out of their last 9 games beating us, Everton, Bolton, Wigan. Arsenal. Boro then winning at Old Trafford on the final day. And then yea, they came 10th the next season. Whether he will work under Venky's or move up north is a mystery, although I do hope we go all out to get him......a massive promotion bonus seems to be our best bet.....our owners won't care about paying it due to the massive tv money we would get anyway.
sjsbrfc Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It's too quiet... Nobody 'knows' anything, noboy's saying anything. Something must be happening
xtp Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Damn. So we may well be replacing a first team coach as manager, with an assistant first team coach. Do Venky's have an allergy to experienced managers?

ABBEY Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 If / When he goes, the press release had better not read, left by mutual consent. It's easier to get rid of AIDS than get rid of Kean. i dont give a crap what it says if he goes.
patrickvalery Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Curbishley is top drawer. For me, he's the happy medium between Hughes and Allardyce. He's exactly the right type for us if the rat is sacked. Experienced, respected, has authority, sets his team up to defend first and attack second, worked with Murphy before, gets the most out of average talent etc etc etc...... However, i 'm not sure he'd move outside the sound of Bow bells. The bloke knows his football and is far more suitable than the in-experienced Sherwood.
miqaayil Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 against odds ...i'm still hoping for rijkaard and tugay as no 2 ..... schuster would be great too ......
Reider84 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 If / When he goes, the press release had better not read, left by mutual consent. It's easier to get rid of AIDS than get rid of Kean. As long as he goes I don't even care anymore if it says he resigned despite being begged to stay!
patrickvalery Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 against odds ...i'm still hoping for rijkaard and tugay as no 2 ..... schuster would be great too ...... Are you romantically involved or are you still hanging on for Megan Fox?
cmb211087 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 When asked on Twitter if Kean still may be replaced, Nicko responded with May? That tells me a lot :-)
T4E Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Are you romantically involved or are you still hanging on for Megan Fox? Nice
beastlove Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 The bookies are hardly ever wrong! Fingers crossed. I have lost so much money on Kean being sacked at the bookies. they even stopped taking bets last time he was going to be sacked.
Blandy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 If / When he goes, the press release had better not read, left by mutual consent. It's easier to get rid of AIDS than get rid of Kean. I think you're on the money with that one, I imagine the official statement will read "by mutual consent" and Kean will bang on that despite the impressive start to the season he coudn't carry on with the abuse being thrown at him and that he was never given a chance by the Rovers fans.
miqaayil Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Are you romantically involved or are you still hanging on for Megan Fox? married with kids .... but still hoping ....

Not quite as good as 10 out of 11 but still only one less than Kean managed in a whole season..

Backroom Tom Posted September 26, 2012 Backroom Posted September 26, 2012 When asked on Twitter if Kean still may be replaced, Nicko responded with May? That tells me a lot :-) Ha ha that was in response to me and its made me more positive If this happens any cynicism I had over Shebby will go as it will have proven he is there for a reason I dread to even think about what happens next if he stays though As far as replacements go I would take literally anyone at this moment but we will cross that bridge if we come to it
chaddyrovers Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 When asked on Twitter if Kean still may be replaced, Nicko responded with May? That tells me a lot :-) I think Nicko was taking issue will the May comment in Tom's question. which meant that Nicko reckon Kean will be gone.
Reider84 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Ha ha that was in response to me and its made me more positive If this happens any cynicism I had over Shebby will go as it will have proven he is there for a reason I dread to even think about what happens next if he stays though I'm choosing not to think about it! I know full well that with Venky's in charge he could literally be replaced by anyone and who knows what will happen, but surely, surely it can't get any worse!
