And my biggest question.. which genius is going to groom this new manager into the next Mourinho/AVB.. both of them learnt from the best for MANY years prior to moving up to the next step..... so we have err... Singh????!!!!!

We have been here before with Kean, Kidd and Ince.. I really really do not like the sound of what Glen got from Singh, it my expectations come to pass then I will no longer support the club that I have followed from childhood because in simple terms it is no longer the same place.. instead I will support my local team (Norwich) until those idiots (Venkys) are removed,

Simple fact of the matter is we need a manager who can gain the respect of the players, kick them into shape and hit the ground running, this is our most important EVER season as we have invested way more than we can afford on players.. now really is not the time to gamble everything on Kean mk2 and burn bridges with an army of respected managers in doing so... not to mention despose of 1000s more fans.

My only hope is this was just smoke and mirrors from Shebby.. but a big part of me expects then to go for Ali, Robinson or Sherwood.

Nicko once suggested Stuart McCall

Personally I am in shock that he rates a Scottish manager but I wondered what thoughts on him were?

Is Grayson an option?

Not a horrible choice but he seems to be doing fine at Hudders. Compo involved so it's unlikely. He's had consistent success but could not get Leeds over the finish line.

We was told that the calibre of applicants had been of the highest quality, however the club wanted a Manager who could be groomed into Englands answer to Mourinho. We was told that the manager did not have to be a big name or indeed be experienced. However he must share the same footballing philosophy of both Shebby and the Owners.

OMG are they completely in La La land. Just who in the keaning hell is going to do the grooming? Now I am very afraid. I suppose I should take heart in the fact I was one of those who would have anybody but that POS, so I may just have to like it.

Proof they have learnt nothing over the past 2 years, and we will be condemned to this division or worse for the forseeable future. Henry Winter was right; Kean may have gone but the clowns and the circus remain in town.

Time for some swallowing of pride, admissions that things have been got wrong.

Highly unlikely, but Venkys must reinstate John Williams and allow him the freedom to ressurect the administration of the club.

Then, and only then, will they get a manager of the calibre needed to get the Rovers back into the Premier League.

As it stands, all we have is a wish list of people we would like. It's a totally different matter to get them to come and manage under the current regime.

All I can see happening from here and into the future is more of the same, undirected football.

Shebby deserved a fair bit of credit for getting rid of Kean.. but now just based on his comments it looks like he is aiming for more control over the team which probably was his plan all along, he isnt logical but he is also not stupid (I have met so so so many people like that who can manipulate and get their way but are as thick as two short planks in everything else.. I know others who are genius level but ask them to fix a leaking tap and they would not even guess how to start).

I hope I am wrong but my gut feeling is this is going to turn really bad (worse than even Keans overlong stint in charge) unless someone I think is a bit thick (Bling Rao) steps in and decides we need a manager with a reputation.

If they do want to achieve what they want then IMO it has to be a manager of reputation with a protégé or two with intelligence (Same lines as Jose/AVB) and for me that would be Schuster and Salgado/Tugay/Guti but I am byassed... the other alternative is someone who has been a proper contender like OGS who has had the experienced boss mentor him (SAF at ManU) and has to a certain level proven himself.

To us it might not seem like rocket science.. however we have to remember the past actions of our wonderful owners, they probably have a brain between them but they have no clue how the footballing world works and somehow think the 1 in a mil event of the special one can be replicated because those who have tried and failed are not even known to the outside world these days.

Thanks Glen for a good update.

So Rovers are looking for a Mark Hughes mk 2 or Brendan Rodgers mk2.

I can see why Rovers/Shebby and Rao Brothers want to go down the Young up and coming manager. guess they are looking for a manager to be here at least 5 to 6 years and built the club and play attractive passing football.

I also disagree about this being a Cheap option.

There is also a risk that an experience overseas manager will not adapt quickly enough to English and to the Championship

What happened to getting back to the Premier League at the first attempt "at any cost". An inexperienced manager is not what we need. We need someone who can take one of the most talented teams in the division to their potential, not kean about trying to nuture some manager who would no doubt kean off if they do a decent job!

According to GM latest tweets after the meeting tonight with Shebby, Shebby will recommend then the family will decide.

Heres what else he put about the criteria

If things go to plan the manager has to tick a lot of boxes , Be squeaky clean , British , never been relegated , not the finished article

Must have the ability , drive and football philosophy to want to go all the way to the top . Served a good apprenticeship

Whatever he had achieved as a player or big name will have no baring on final decision . They want a footballing man, they want to create their own mourinho

With Trappatoni, Hitzfeld and Schüster all allegedly having applied for the gig, I'd be livid if they actually go for the cheap "British Mourinho" type. Which they probably will :(

What I've said all along. It's the fact that they've dangled the chance to have a proper manager in front of us that will now infuriate so many if they appoint inexperience ahead of substance. They are fools if they think they can completely disregard fans' views again. Not that we should choose the manager, but that we can all see, despite putting many different names forward, that something either exciting enough to get fans down there in droves or experienced enough to be a steady bet to get us promoted this season is what's needed. We cannot end up with someone out of their depth and with no real groundswell of support or what chance will the guy have to manage and what chance will the players have to grow as a team?

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that they are going to appoint someone worse than Kean (I didn't believe it was possible previously). I will now have to spend the next 24 months listening to people tell me Kean wasn't the problem and I should have got behind him.

Great

If they are after a young British manager then that suggests Karl Robinson, especially as he has been linked heavily in the past. Probably would have got the job if he had still been here when Venkys took over rather than Kean. I don't think he is the galvanising figure needed at this time though a better option than no experience whatsoever Judan Ali.

Don't know if this has been posted before,

But after reading it, Maybe it's worth putting a few quid on him.

http://www.mirrorfoo...icle840982.html

unfortunately I have a gut feeling you may be bang on the money..the only way this club will move forward is when these clowns ( the Rao's , Shebbby , Agnew , etc ) are no longer here....as for going back up at 1st attempt money no object - lets get real we have players on big money making a frightening scenario likely if or when we don't go up within the next 2 seasons....

Karl Robinson was recommend to Balaji this summer just post.

if rovers do appoint him, i really hope that all fans will give him a chance and support it.

Giving managers with little to no experience has worked so well in the past for us with Kean, Ince, John Pickering and Kidd - why not give it another try! I will admit that Hughes came off though...

yes but any manager coming in is IMO risking a lot if he has to work for these clowns unless he is given full control of team affairs , transfers , etc...but is this likely ???...mmmm

We was told that the manager did not have to be a big name or indeed be experienced. However he must share the same footballing philosophy of both Shebby and the Owners.

They would prefer a British Manager, and he ruled out Solksjaer and pretty much most of the names who have been muted. They are not after the finished article but a manager who can grow with the club and be part of the clubs future success.

So in short, we are looking for a young british manager who can grow and stay with the club for many years to come

Brilliant.

The next appointment will be a disaster, I am absolutely sure of it.

They have learned absolutely nothing from the appointment of Kean, as he seems to fit most of these criteria.

Giving managers with little to no experience has worked so well in the past for us with Kean, Ince, John Pickering and Kidd - why not give it another try! I will admit that Hughes came off though...

Hughes had five years worth of experience beating some of the finest international teams and managers in world football.

He was not inexperienced, any people trying to compare this to appointing the likes of Shearer are just wrong.

I love the way everyone on here is defining who is young and up-coming etc etc.

Here are the basic facts, everyone on here knows the square route of bugger all about these people except what they have read in the press. And given whats been reported of Rovers recenlty you'd think caution would be the note of the day.

So if it's to be as the Trust and JW decreed, then sod it go get Hilly, takes no kean, turns average players into 1million pound players and has done well at 2 clubs now. Also remember barnsley played us off the park despite losing and given he had a sports scientist as his Number 2 in the late Paul Conway, we know he's forward thinking and endorses what it can bring to the table.

Hill & a performance Director in similiar mold and we can build from there.
