To those suggesting Rafa Benitez and managers of a similar pedigree, I'll have what your taking please!

We'll have better luck either going for a talisman like Shearer or a young/hungry manager.

I'm not saying we would get him but I couldn't hurt at least approaching him.

I don't think we'd get Benitez either but Kamy put forward some fairly cogent reasoning on the podcast as to why we might.

Anyway, talk of Benitez might coax that Scouse idiot Darwen End back onto the forum and I don't think anybody wants that.

you could use the same argument with solskjær though. He still have his house in manchester. his kids miss england. Which is why if we were properly run we would be much more likely to get him than a club like aston villa for instance. but it wont happen.

Joachim Löw would be my favorite manager, but thats not gonna happen.

Think Henning Berg could do a great job. Club legend, knows our history and the community, have learned his trade under managers like Kingkenny and Sir alex, plays attractive football, is very good at finding young players and selling them with a profit. got 8 years of experience with mixed sucess, demands alot from his players and sorroundings. some players, especially african players have fallen out with him, and in some cases slagged him off in the media. but i think he would do a good job in enland

The latest article in the LT says that Black is a contender and will be given a chance to prove himself. If this is true then I hope we get beat on wednesday, Black isn't the answer at all.

I wonder if those rumours were true that during Kean's tenure the players liked Kean because he basically let them do what they wanted in training etc? Perhaps the likes of Lowe calling for Black to get the job is the players want to continue that cushy number?

Whether that rumour was true or not, a new manager with his own ideas would shake up the place. Promotion from within would likely see a continuation of the norm.

Black? Will these people never learn?

There needs to be a line drawn under the Kean regime and everyone who was pro-Kean at the club needs removing, right down to Bradley Orr.

If they appoint Black then it will be head trauma for me as I will smash my head against the wall 7862536587627412076487328479087 times.

I wish this talk of Benitez would stop. We know fans from other clubs come here - it's embarrassing.

Garry Flitcroft is nowhere ready to step up. It would be Paul Ince all over again. He's not a big enough name to make him a special case - something that you could argue for someone like Shearer.

This just sums it up for me:

"Venky’s understood to be keen on attracting a young, dynamic manager. Managerial experience at the top level is not believed to be a necessity."

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9958410.Black_will_be_chance_to_impress___as_Rovers_shortlist_is_drawn_up/

We will have to wait and see what happens but there is a good chance they haven't learnt from the Kean debacle one bit.

All this talk about Black is not good news. If Venky's appoint him, they may as well say goodbye to the thousands of fans who have just returned. I don't care if the players like him either, most of the the players have kept silent whilst seeing our club destroyed and the one's who have spoke up have been quickly shifted on and smeared.

Let us all not forget that Eric Black was part of Kean's empire. Why on Earth would Venky's consider this to be appropriate? Absolute lunacy.

It's quite clear they are extremely stupid. God knows who they will appoint. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they gave Black the job (cheap option). If this happened I'd be disappointed, but would back the manager.

To be honest, I think they'll struggle to appoint anyone with a good track record.

I really don't give a toss about what other fans think mate, this is our club, our forum and only our opinions matter. If you really cared what other fans thought about our club you must be a wreck by now given what has occurred over the last two years.

I don't that much but Benitez is just a ridiculous suggestion. Someone even mentioned Guardiola ffs.

I very much doubt Black will get the job. The owners want a 'name' to get the fans back in the stadium.

Clubs always say that about caretaker managers.

This is Venkys we're talking about, let's not forget they didn't actully get rid of Kean.
