Both times we have been relegated in recent times was with a 'coach' in charge, and I feel with the club and team in dissaray that it shouldn't be someones first position as a manager. On the other hand its been torture for fans in past two years, many regulars have left, so it would be great to get someone who also gets the imagination running.

Manager should NOT be one of the following;

Eric Black. A new brush is needed to sweep clean. Seems like playing squad is split and that would continue under Black plus he has never shown enough promises to warrant the job, it would Kean mkII. May aswell just pick any random average assistant from championship who at least would bring a fresh start.

Mick Mcarthy. A tad over rated, might do ok, but ultimately too boring to bring the fans back I think.

Colin Hendry. His chance with Blackpoool has been and gone, questionable character

Sherwood. In manay ways I woudl like to see him manager but reminds me of how great Kidd was suppose to be, plus if its right that we would have to pay millions in compo then Tottenham should run and jumo, if we were to take a risk on a novice then it should be one that doesn;t cost millions.

Flitcroft/Jansen. They need another job higher up leagues before they qualify, last I heard they were still working towards their badges. Whoever it should be should be fully qualified.

Alan Shearer. No way is he a manager. I'd be willing to eat my words if he was appointed and was a success. It would be good to have him as a coach.

Klinsmann. Big question marks over his ability as a club manager.

Mccleish. Overrated

I think manager should one of;

Sounness. I liked his style and he should sort out the playing squad, strong and independent enough to put things right.

Hughes (if he ends up getting sacked from qpr). As above.

Solskjaer. Looks promisisng. Young, ambitious and with some experience.

Hollaway

Curbishley

a marque manager wouldn't be bad if Venkys can pull it off and work out a good deal for both parties, ie. Benitez

There are some great managers in Germany, might be too ambitious but if we managed to get someone like Sammer that would be great even if they did just want to use us as a stepping stone in english football to get to one of the top premier league clubs.

I have an open mind though, there must be dozens of managers out there who could do a good job for Rovers and are willing to come. Just as long as Venkys set up a proper chain of command and one one hand let the manager have theri own backroom staff but on the other don;t let them claim too much power or influence at the club. Plus they will have to be decisve if ultimately they flop. And it MUST not be BLACK or any current backroom staff.

Nice Ideas if we were to appoint someone with no experience

Tugay along with his own backroom staff and supportive director of football. I think this would get the fans drooling but would be a risk.

Gary Neville. I'd rather have him than Sherwood if I'm honest. I assume he lives in the north west, is eager to get in mangement, thought very highly off, more so than Sherwood, I think I read that he has all of his badges. and he shouldn;t come along with a £3million fee like Sherwood if papers are to be believed

Did you break in and steal my thoughts?? agree 100%!!

It's probably worth noting that Daum left Brugge for family reasons.

It doesn't say what those reasons were, but if they were geographical then perhaps that would rule him out.

I can't say I know too much about him, but his win % is excellent - the lowest he's achieved is 40% throughout all his jobs.

Just what's needed at the moment somebody to scare the hell out of the players, actually train them and change their mentality from the easy ride it seems they have had over the last 20 months.

He does seem to tick the boxes anybody who has had a few spells in the hostile Turkish football atmosphere and done fairly well must have something about them.

Doubt he would be the players choice at the current holiday resort club da la Brockhall

I'm happy to have him if he does give these players a harder ride. He looks like he won't take any crap and his record proves this.

That Daum guy scares the life out of me, he would scare the players with those looks.

In a "Ve hav vays to make you talk" manner, I agree. I hope that translates, in a footballing sense, to "ve hav vays to make you run."

Our team is unfit and we need a manager who has the nerve and the will to take a cattle prod to some wearing our shirt.

And stories on Daum suggest he knows how to organize a defense, which is a welcome relief.

Of course what does this mean for players like CKR who were transfer listed by Daum for their escapades?

I don't that much but Benitez is just a ridiculous suggestion. Someone even mentioned Guardiola ffs.

Listen to the podcast......money talks.....he would want a massive promotion bonus which our owners would probably be willing to give him due to the added tv money......I'm gonna presume the guy who mentioned Guardiola was joking as I'm not gonna consider the alternative......Benitez is very unlikely but why not entertain the idea......in case other fans think we're idiots? Kean's gone now, they can think what they want.

Cryer reckons he has these 2 games to prove himself. Can't win.

He wins and does well we're stuck with him, which imo would be disastrous.

He does terrible & we are a distance off the leaders.

Why can't they just say he's in charge till we find a manager, what's wrong with not promoting someone useless & actually appointing a proven "manager"

Doesn't it say the 2 games include performances as well? If we play well and win both, I'd much prefer Black to a Shearer or Flitcroft......and I think Reading were about 18th in November/December and won the league,,,,it's a 46 game season, there's plenty of time.

What's Sven up to these days?

Wasn't good at Leicester....don't want Sven.

black may have been keans assistant but is that really a reason for blind hatred of the man? most of us work for idiots but it does not make us one............however i can only speak for myself

Black is not "toxic" and does not deserve to be tarred with the same brush as Kean. If he is appointed he should get the full backing of the fans. Charlton was too early but the next 2 games should give the chance to change the team and make a difference. Let's see what happens.

The thought that someone has already rung up the ticket office because Black will be in charge for the next couple of days makes me cringe.

I think people need to lay of Black and calm down. I don't think he is a Kean stooge and I don't think anyone has any idea how he would set up a team.

People might say he was part of the problem because nothing changed when he came in as assistant but Kean has had 3 assistants in the past 21 months and its clear that he didn't let anyone influence the tactics because throughout this period nothing changed.

Personally I don't think Black will get the job but I am looking forward to going to the next game to see if he can improve performances. He will naturally get a chance because he is in charge for the net few games. The owners are hardly going to come out and say to him you are in charge but you have no chance of getting the job full time are they ?

No more of this "well I hope we lose so he gets sacked" mentality. Please..

I hope Black makes it hard for the owners to make a choice because if we win the next few games playing well then surely thats a good thing.

All that matters to me is results. Winning games. Getting promotion.

I've quoted all of these as they are worth repeating.....Black shouldn't be hired because he won't bring enough fans back.....he's not someone I want but I'd rather have him than someone completely inexperienced.....he did alright at Coventry and apparently played good football......so what if Kean hired him?

"West Brom fans, do you want Steve Clarke as manager?"......"You joking? Dalglish's assistant at Liverpool recently? Did you not watch them and did you not see his record?"

I highly doubt Black played in a similar way at his previous managerial posts to the way Kean played with us.......any new manager should be given our full support but it's practically impossible for me to be a season ticket holder so that wasn't meant to be preachy or anything.

Slightly amusing how quick we were to beat Kean with the drink-driving brush but are now getting excited about a guy who (allegedly) had a hard drug habit and was facing jail time!

Did he try and blame us for it though, that's the real question.

And I don't know about everyone else, but 99% of the reason I wanted Kean gone was because he was a terrible manager.

Because this will only make the eventual replacement seem underwhelming. Realism is more important. Look at all the Black Out! stuff appearing online already. Benitez will not be coming or they'd have made that appointment at the start of the season, had it been possible.

Keans a clueless wan ker though, this guy is a top level manager and would be a massive improvement on what we have had over the last few years.

I'm sure he was clean shaven throughout his tenure as Rovers boss.

He had his tash when he signed for us, I'm sure you will be able to found a pic on google easily.

I'd post a picture but I've no idea how too !

Braddock! You've finally returned! I think some of the other members were looking for you yesterday because for some reason they thought you would disappear. Glad to see you back on.

I don't quite get your statement on Eric Black. Are you with or against them? I'm all for giving Eric Black a chance, even if he isn't ideal, but frankly I think all the Black Out! stuff is ridiculous. No wonder the media slams us as being unreasonable and horrible fans. It's only been one game (and he was only in charge for one day) and already people are calling for his head. <____<

  • Backroom

Daum looks like an interesting choice actually. Just one thing, is it pronounced 'dowm' (like down) or 'dayum' (like an american saying damn - think Ron Simmons in WWE)?
