I hope this complacency isn't setting in within Ewood as it is on here with some.

Just because we've finally got rid of the worst manager in our history doesn't mean that we should be happy with just anyone. "Black will be a step up from Kean' seems to be the thoughts of many. Yes he is, heck I would be, but we must aim higher than that. He can be a steady hand for a couple of games, but in that time we should be sounding out experienced managers, offering them a massive promotion bonus to tempt them to the club.

Braddock! You've finally returned! I think some of the other members were looking for you yesterday because for some reason they thought you would disappear. Glad to see you back on.

I don't quite get your statement on Eric Black. Are you with or against them? I'm all for giving Eric Black a chance, even if he isn't ideal, but frankly I think all the Black Out! stuff is ridiculous. No wonder the media slams us as being unreasonable and horrible fans. It's only been one game (and he was only in charge for one day) and already people are calling for his head. <____<

I don't understand how you can be "all for giving Black a chance" we need somebody that's going to come in and galvanise the club, get everybody back on and same side and give the owners and fans a "clean slate" and IMO Black would not do that.

He also has very little managerial experience and there is nothing I have seen or heard that makes me think "yea he could get us back in the premier league".

I just can't understand out of all the names mentioned why you would want Black to take over as manager it really baffles me !?

I agree, this appointment is huge for Venkys, they need to show ambition not just go for another cheap no mark manager that will just "do a job". Let need to get the fans back on side and Black just doesn't cut the mustard in my opinion. Yea he might be a great coach but we need more than that right now, I hope they don't make the same mistake again and give what is a massive job to another total novice.

Looks like there will be no quick appointment, which is a good thing in my opinion.

They want to go through a proper process to get new manager. There will be a shortlist and they will work through that, the plan is to go for a young progressive manager, think that they have seen likes of Adkins, Rodgers and Lambert being successful in this league and want to go down that route. That I would assume rules out likes of McCarthy.

In the meantime Black will be the caretaker boss, if they can't get people from their shortlist and Black impresses then he a chance of getting the job, but he is very much a fallback option.

Christoph Daum would be amazing appointment IMO, he has managed some of Europes top clubs and his win % record speaks for itself, does anybody know if he is being considered by the club ?

christoph will be excellent .... but not sure he has his personal life together

I recall the same thing happening when Big Sam got the sack and Kean took over !

Lets hope this isn't a repeat of what proved to be one of the worst appointments in the history of the club...

Because this will only make the eventual replacement seem underwhelming. Realism is more important. Look at all the Black Out! stuff appearing online already. Benitez will not be coming or they'd have made that appointment at the start of the season, had it been possible.

But we all know it's highly unlikely......we're not gonna be too disappointed when something doesn't happen when we all knew it wasn't really going to happen anyway......the last part of your post is just speculation posing as fact.....who knows what the situation at the start of the season was....they seem to change their mind all the time.

True but the drink-driving thing was (rightly) generally used as a stick to beat him with. Just goes to show how hated he was I guess.

I don't know about everyone else, but the fact he lied about it in court (perjury) and then tried to blame the fans is just as bad.....everyone commits crimes, but the fact he got caught doing it and then still tried to deny it says a lot about his character.....or complete lack of one.

And personally, I see quite a big difference in coke-fuelled orgies with hookers and drink-driving......with the first one, you are only endangering yourself and the prostitutes in case of an overdose or something...but they are adults (I hope) and they know all the risks, so will have done it consensually and probably not for the first time.....with drink-driving you are potentially endangering pedestrians and every other vehicle on the road.....which might include young children.....on a motorway as well, going fast enough to kill or severely harm.

But like I said, I wanted Kean gone because he was an awful manager.......this guy can have all the wild cocaine parties he wants if he gets us promoted.

Anybody know what Markus Babbel is upto now days? I can remember him doing a great job at Hertha Berlin last him I heard him mentioned.

He would also fit the brief of young & progressive/ex player Kamy mentioned earlier.

Shebby Singh - "Please don't call Eric Black caretaker manager, he is managing our team right now and we'll not be setting a time scale."

So he's got the job then.

This has Kean deja vu written all over it.

Black will have a contract by this time next week, it's how Venkys roll.

Been looking back on some of the articles when Sam was sacked, check this out from that witch Desai.

''We have a long-term vision. We want to take the club up to higher heights in terms of position, in terms of overall betterment of the club, in terms of development of younger players - the future.

''In that, Sam definitely didn't fit in.

''We don't want to be, all the time, in danger of being relegated - three points away, five points away.

''I don't think this team deserves that. This team has a lot of potential and we can see that.

''Whatever has been done, including Sam's decision, there is a good reason why it has been done.''

I will be very very annoyed as will everyone if Black is appointed. I can just see him winning both games and that's that.

Desai press release :

"We have given Mr Eric two games to show his mettle and he has proven to us he is the man to lead us forever, he will not be sacked"

If they want a young forward thinking manager they might get tempted by Di Canio, could be an interesting one. He's definitely no nonsense, remember the story about him and his goalkeeper very recently.

Haven't really watched him at all with Swindon to see what tactics etc are like but I know he's doing well with them.

We could do worse but he would be a gamble, then again most would be.

I do worry like others that we'll take our time, meanwhile Black will do okay and possibly end up getting the job when the people at the top of the shortlist are not interested!
