I actually don't think Hughes is that out of the question because he must be close to the end if things don't turn around, the chairman isn't the most patient. I think they could be very very tempted to get rid of him if results continue in the next month or so and appoint none other than Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp would probably love it and could cope with London, they;d give him a blank cheque book in January and a massive bonus to stay up, probably let him pick his own terms like manager until the end of the season. QPR stay up, saggy chops gets another boost to his reputation and everyone's happy.

Meanwhile Hughes is free to come back and may be tempted to take it who knows.

I think I have too much free time on my hands at the moment.

I have championed Keith Hill amongst my mates for a while now but my concern is when managers take a step up in divisions they don't have the contacts with backroom staff. When Ince took over Hughes had taken all his staff to City and from people at Brockhall it was like a ghost town. Hopefully this time most of the backroom staff who do the prozone etc should still be there so maybe Hill could slot in as a figure head reasonably well and bring his own staf in over time.

If they want a young forward thinking manager they might get tempted by Di Canio, could be an interesting one. He's definitely no nonsense, remember the story about him and his goalkeeper very recently.

Haven't really watched him at all with Swindon to see what tactics etc are like but I know he's doing well with them.

Di Canio has got Swindon playing yes but from what I've heard he's an absolute nut job and I'm not sure how well he would do with Championship/Premier League level players. Swindon's squad last year was vastly superior to others around them last year with some players being of a high League 1 standard and this helped them get the edge in a fair few games. I also had the misfortune of seeing them in the JPT final last year, possibly the worst 90 minutes of football I'd ever seen at a ground until I went to the Rovers MK Dons game a month or so ago.

That being said he's very popular with the fans and when Swindon do get playing they're often very difficult to stop. I personally don't think he would be brilliant for us right now when in my mind what we need is stability.

  • Backroom

Venky's have spent a lot of money on us in pre-season and are seemingly desperate to entice fans back to Ewood Park.

It would be foolish of them to appoint Black based on those two points alone.

Which means this time next week he'll probably be given a ten year 'unsackable' contract.

Problem is Scotty you are championing someone who has never been a champion.

There is a big job ahead at the club and it will need a big character to pull it off. We must get someone hugely experienced as the size of the task ahead should not be under-estimated.

I recall the same thing happening when Big Sam got the sack and Kean took over !

Lets hope this isn't a repeat of what proved to be one of the worst appointments in the history of the club...

One of the worst appointments???? who could possibly have been worse

Here we go again!

People who have no idea who is on the stortlist taking a comment by Jason Lowe and then snowballing it into a full blown rumour.

Calm down people, let's just wait and see what happens.

Listen to shebby, don't sound great.

I don't understand how you can be "all for giving Black a chance" we need somebody that's going to come in and galvanise the club, get everybody back on and same side and give the owners and fans a "clean slate" and IMO Black would not do that.

He also has very little managerial experience and there is nothing I have seen or heard that makes me think "yea he could get us back in the premier league".

I just can't understand out of all the names mentioned why you would want Black to take over as manager it really baffles me !?

Sorry, I think you misunderstand me. I'm for giving Eric Black a chance for the next two games, not a chance to be Kean's permanent successor. I was referring to the fans who were already slating him online and calling for his head despite playing one game. I mean, at least let him finish the next two games peacefully without abusing him. I never had the notion that Eric Black would be the one to take us back to the Premier League, I was only talking about the next two games. If you've read the Lancashire Telegraph online, you would have seen horrific comments made by certain fans regarding Black and already they want him out immediately. Which is madness, because who's going to take over next until the real replacement comes in? The tea lady? Paul Agnew? Shebby Singh?

At least give him a chance to see out the next two matches instead of stabbing him immediately after the match against Charlton.

eric black has been tainted with the steve kean disease, need a complete break from the old regime, someone new to add some fresh impetus to the club, if they appointed steve kean's number 2 then this will be my last season as a season ticket holder until venkys have gone.

Gave this a bit of thought today. Especially after hearing the podcast. I think rovers should go for Rafa Benitez. He is more than good enough to get us into the prem. More importantly would be able to keep us there. He would give the club stability.

Ahh I'm with you now, I was under the impression you would be happy with him taking over on a pertinent basis !

Brian Kidd and Paul Ince are up there with Kean in my opinion

Both were crap but neither had as bad a record as Coco, additionally they never plumbed the depths of spin, lies and BS that the deluded one excelled at. A hideous man who should never be allowed within 300 miles of Ewood ever again.

I'm sure some people on here are bipolar

One moment they're up the next they're down.

Black won't get the job! Surely it's better to take time and make the right appointment? Put Black in charge for the next few games, and then during the international break appoint the new man.

Eric Black will be given the job, cheap and easy to appoint.

I agree he won't demand any huge wages or promotion bonus, and I can't see him demanding investment in January either.

If he does get the managers job I will be immensely disappointed, I have nothing against Eric Black but he is exactly what we don't need right now !
