Popped into Rovers' shop whilst close to town centre today and bought some tickets for Wolves' match.

Told that match day tickets were picking-up but got the impression that not overly brisk. Amazed at choice of seats around where I sat previously.

Must say that Black doesn't get the hairs on the back of the neck standing-up and it feels like Rovers need to capitalise on current euphoria, post Kean, pretty quickly. Happy for Black to hold the shop for next 2 matches this week but beyond that, a definite no, no. There is no way that I would describe Black as progressive and he gives me the impression that he needs a stick of dynamite up his backside in order to get him going.

I dont see Shebby giving Black the job after actually seing the interview.

Just support the caretaker for the next 2 games as he seach for a permanent manager.

From SSN interview:

Singh has insisted everyone at the club will get fully behind Black as the search continues for a permanent successor to Kean.

"Eric is in charge. He has got a game on Wednesday and a game on Saturday," said Singh.

"In this short period I would not like to put Eric under pressure and I will not use the word caretaker because he is managing the team.

Singh came across as having some class in that video. A far more even-keeled, personable character than Kean.

I didn't get the sense that Singh was considering Black for a permanent position. Only that he wanted to lift what little pressure he could from Black's mind and thus improve the team's chances.

Come on people, Kean is gone and someone has to be manager for the short period until Rovers and Shebby can get a good replacement. Get behind the guy at least for the next two games. Leave the 'tainted' bull sh't behind because that is all it is. It's like Ince all over again, any player bought in by him was tainted and not worthy of Rovers including Robbo before they even had chance to prove themselves. It's a complete joke.

I think we have to remember that Shebby is the one that rejected Cox (the cheaper option) and went all out for Rhodes. Watching that interview - I can't see Eric Black getting the job - but he (very sensibly) hasn't closed the door either (which would demoralise Black). It was IMO a good interview by Shebby.

Also - whatever the decision - I think we have to get behind the new man. Picking a new manager is partially luck - even with a strong board we have had our share of managers that haven't made the grade.

Fine with most of that but how does drawing up a shortlist distract the players?

I thought the same thing... I don't understand how it would effect the players when it's something they should have no involvement in ?

I think they are doing the right thing at the moment. Not rushing into a quick choice. We want the next manager to be the right one, so, what better than to appoint the coach for a few games with the incentive that the replacement manager hasn't been selected yet and if he does a good job.....who knows. What if he turns out to be good at the job?

We are in danger of writing the next manager off before his first game!! I will be amazed if we attract a big name here, given the hammering we've taken in the press, and the whacky image our owners project.

Don't get me wrong, so far I like Shebby and I think he is cleverer than a lot of people give him credit far, but I hope he really isn;t going to leave it until next week to draw up a shortlist and tick of names, forget distracting the players, the aim should be to get a mangaer for the start of international break so he can get his feet under table work with and assess squad who remain at Brockhall with aim to get the team stepping up a couple of gears pronto. ....And I'm going Wolves and it might be abit of an anti climax if there is no news by then.

I think you are right in your podcast that Shebby and co shouldn't listen to fans too much about choice manager but conversely I think they should take notice of the fans when it comes to who we don't want, and its clear nobody wants Black, nothing personal aainst Black, I wish him the best of luck for the future, but I think most fans agree we need a fresh start, and I think it will take an outsider to sort out the dressing room.

Problem is, I don't want to buy a one off match ticket for the Wolves game if I'm going to buy a season ticket - I want to go the whole hog and get the season ticket. However, if Black is appointed it will not inspire anyone and i certainly can't see it inspiring the players to go out and suddenly start training hard and playing better. Black may be a decent manager but do we really want to find out the hard way that he isn't? Perhaps the club could assure us that if we buy a Wolves ticket, in order to get behind the team again as we really want to, they will refund the cost if we buy a season ticket. They've done that before with early season games and for many of us this is early season. I know it smacks of wanting to have my cake and eat it, but I somehow can't quite commit to an ST if Black ends up as manager, at least not without seeing how he does, as I think, however hard we try not to judge him on the basis of being Kean's assistant, he was and will be for a long time, tainted by association

Just what's needed at the moment somebody to scare the hell out of the players, actually train them and change their mentality from the easy ride it seems they have had over the last 20 months.

He does seem to tick the boxes anybody who has had a few spells in the hostile Turkish football atmosphere and done fairly well must have something about them.

Doubt he would be the players choice at the current holiday resort club da la Brockhall

100% with you on this one. He ticks the boxes and the thought of Bradley Orr's face as Baum stares at him intensely whilst rollocking him for terrible defending brings a smile to my face. I would rather an experienced manager such as him come in as opposed to just a name from the BRFC history books. He just seems the sensible option.

all the grief Black is getting is unbelievable and totally unwarranted , Black may not even WANT the job , and what is Shebby supposed to say eh ??? "err well whatever happens Eric Black will definatley not be the manager , in fact the chances are a he'll be out of a job in 2 weeks because the new manager will want his own team" !!! no i dont thinks so ... get a grip fellas

Just a quick one. People are saying "I don't want McCarthy he would take us up possibly, but take us straight back down". Well all the other names wouldn't get us up in the first place, therefore doesn't that make him a better option?

which other names would not get us up ? i personally feel our choice should be high profile , game changing person who will clear house from within and change the culture of football taught by kean , and the environment of a very young squad and strong academy is conducive for change.

i strongly feel we are not a championship team trying to get to premier league , we are a premier league team who are temperorily in championship due to an idiot manager.

and to those asking on hughes ... i would not even want him back ,if he wants to come,i still feel he has lost the plot

I do support black ...somebody gotta do the job till a perm guy comes in and you need to encourage him publically so players will also cooperate with him. The cancer kean is out , whatever happens from this point wil be good for rovers. lets believe and get behind the team
