According to the LT Daum is interested, if this is the case then he's far and away the best realistic candidate at the moment.

Btw Rovers should be considering Ralf Rangnick. Good manager and is keen to come to England. Put his hat in the ring for both the Spurs and West Brom job.

Do these 2 German managers speak English properly and have knowledge of the Championship. Think it would be a huge risk to appoint a foriegn manager with no experience in the English game.

Remember Sven at Leicester spent millions and got nowhere and he didnt understand the Championship or have enough knowledge of that league.

I am certainly behind Black for as long as he is in the job. I can't believe one or two on here are saying they have cancelled their season ticket because they fear Black will get the job full time. That is crazy.

I agree that Black would not be a good long term appointment but I highly doubt he will be offered the job. He doesn't fit the profile. Venky's want the new man to be a footballing and commercial success. By that I mean someone who can get the team going AND someone who can attract sponsors and fans back to the club.

Shearer will get the job imo

Will support Black for the next 2 games but then I want to a manager come in.

I also reckon Rovers/Shebby/Balaji will go for Shearer.

I think the management team of Shearer, Dowie and Newell would be good. But I think that the manager should choose the players we sign, team selection and tactics.

Plus maybe even more important we need to have proper off the field management structure in place. With a proper CEO coming in like Tom Finn. John Williams did for rovers before, to work will Shebby and Derek Shaw.

Also we need to put in new proper Scouting setup/network like we had before when Martyn Glover was in charge of it. I would model it on the Newcastle scouting setup that Graham Carr leads.

can

i'm sick of hearing about stats, thanks.

he's spent the last 10 years going from 1 club to another for various reasons, I thought Stability was one of the key things we need from a new manager, not somebody who could jump ship anytime without good reason.

nah ... it depends on the project and aim of club , if any manager feels there is nothing more they can do ...they move on ... not like a certain someone we know for 2 years

pls have a look at link ...little idea on the guy

i would ask for money back guarentee

Some supporters have short memories then.

By far the best manager we have had since Kenny and better in some aspects due to budgets etc.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't expect to see him back here though.

Are you serious? Are you freaking serious?! I'll have you know those new clubs under him constantly finish around 2nd, he even won a League title once and a Europa Cup despite being 3-0 down with 17 minutes to go, but somehow galvanized his team to win 4-3. You don't even know his achievements and you're slagging him off? Now I'm not suggesting he'll be perfect for the job, but comments like this make you look like a troll, no offense......you seem like the type who wants Jose Mourinho, Frank Rijard or Pepe Guirdona (sorry, it's 3am here and I'm too tired to check the spelling of their names) to manage our club instead.

your calling me a troll after that childish little rant!!!

not that i should be responding to your crap, but of course i wouldn't even consider a top calibre established manager like those you mentioned to be interested or even considered, i don't have a realistic number 1(although in an ideal world it would be Ole Solskjaer) choice just yet as all the managers i've seen mentioned are questionable(for various reasons) and none of them stand out much as being ideal, Id be content with Mick McCarthy as a safe fallback option but would prefer somebody a bit more ambitious.

p.s. i did't slag anybody off!, i was just making an observation. i suggest you go to sleep now.

Shebby: "Eric is in charge and lets all get behind the team please”.

The cynical in me is saying that Venky's might very well give Black the gig if the fans flock back for the Wolves match. "Look Mrs. Desai, they're all back now that Steve is gone, they're all there for Eric!" Not that they would be that stupid...

Nah, I genuinely do not think they will do that this time around, but once bitten, twice shy, etc - which is why I fully understand those who boycott until we've appointed an actual manager.

Nah pedro ... i remember completely .... but i still say he lost the plot after leaving us

Sounds like people have lots of different views on the next manager

The only way to unite the fanbase (but not in a good way) would be to appoint Black. Seems like everyone is against that.

I will back any reasonable manager they appoint

Although my choice would be McCarthy, let's worry about staying in the premiership when we get there!

If not him then Karl Robinson.

Promotion is the most important thing IMO, once we get promoted we can look at stability.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion though.

I actually think hearing from people Like Kamy, Cryer, Nicko etc. that we will be appointing he who is genuinely believed will help turn the club around. Pretty sure they took the cheap option with Kean as well as taking the opinions of his agent into account.

This time around, there is a much stronger feeling that they are actually trying to appoint somebody like any other football club would do.

I do stress though that Venky's are always ready to disappoint and this by no means may remain the case by the time a new manager is appointed.

SHERWOOD: Well respected as a coach but could he step up to managers post? Will bring the fans back but lots of compo!

SHEARER: Has he got what it takes to be manager? Not too sure on that one. Never come across as the brightest bloke nor the most imposing in the dressing room. So respected as a player and he will unite the fans and I imagine top players would want to play for him.

BLACK: I don't see him as Kean mkII. He seems to talk more sense than Kean and doesn't seem such a despicable chap. However, I don't want to see him as our manager. I don't Venky's will make the same mistake twice and appoint from within. I would be shocked if they did.

BAUM: Has all the attributes on paper with the statistics to back it up. To appoint him states ambition and providing he would stick around he could do a great job.

CURBISHLEY: See above. Got all the attributes but whether he would come is another thing! (Same with REDKNAPP)

MCCARTHY: Not my ideal choice but would definitely be an improvement to Kean!

TUGAY: Heart over head but wouldn't we all love to see him in charge doing well!

NEVILLE: Complete outsider and probably a non-starter but every time I watch him on TV his intelligence and tactical nous hits me like a slap in the face. Well respected in the game, would be tutored by the likes of Fergie. I just have a feeling he will be a great manager in the future.

I think stats are far more important than opinions. Stats are facts, established history. Without experience and a good record (i.e. stats) we should not be looking to at a potential manager.

And I'd take a year of Daum. Getting up is the most important thing.

hughes can't even get big spending qpr out of the bottom 3 and we want him?

I respect Hughes, but he'd be a gamble at this stage.

The Folly of Appointing Alan Shearer: http://www.express.c...nts/view/349478

Does Shearer even have his coaching badges?
