2-0 West Ham.....Mark Hughes please, thanks Shebby.

The guy got Newcastle, Fulham and City promoted in his first full season in charge or the first time of asking. Apart from a few memorable occasions, those tactics you mentioned aren't really the tactics he applied - I suppose its in the same vein that the media likes to pretend we are all vile inbreds and Kean is a man of dignity.

But, if they were - football is a simple game where you just need to score more than the opposition...so would that be so bad? He's also used to working with barmy chairmen so with everything considered, I'm surprised we aren't banging on his door right now.

Please don't patronise me.....I clearly said "little thought for defending" and am aware of the objective in a football match thank you very much.

I also like to form my opinions on what I've personally witnessed, not the media, and from what I recall his teams were pretty gung-ho......personally, my number 1 priority in appointing a new manager is "can they sort out our defence?"

Just did a bit of research to see if that's a fair statement regarding Keegan -

There's a recent forum dedicated to him on Blue Moon (the Man City forum) - "With his attacking prowess and seemingly abandonment of all things defensive how do you think he would do with the current squad of players we have?"

"Exciting football at times, no doubt, but his transfer policy in the later years held us back and did untold damage to the club. At a time when we didn't have pots of gold at our disposal he spunked what we did have on absolute garbage. Had completely lost the plot by the end.

Completely agree. He's a media darling with a track record of quitting at the first sign of trouble.

I know he took us back up to the Premiership and then kept us there - but he had alot of money at his disposal. You didn't see the likes of Blackpool or Birmingham City get money to sign an equivalent of Anelka. The idiot still lost half of the fee afterwards.

when Keegan got the job you knew what was going to happen we would get exciting football the you score 3 we'll score 4 mentality was there for all to see

Wouldn't have him anywhere near us, TBH. His real achievement was promotion at the first attempt but what a poor division it was. Take our so-called nearest ‘rivals’ Wolves, who blew a seven-point lead over us when we had three games in hand (one of which we lost at Wimbledon). We did the double over so many teams who have never been back to that division again (Grimsby springs to mind) and of course dear old Millwall who contrived to lose 3-2 at home to us with no travelling support (unless you got a local to arrange a ticket for you) and still lost at Maine Road after we’d had a man sent off and missed a penalty. Didn’t we give Wednesday the lead and still beat them 6-2 away and 4-0 at home? Easy to play fast, attacking and winning football against this sort of ######.

I don't see why the guy is revered so much by some City fans, but yet those same fans never miss an opportunity to slag off Pearce or Hughes. I'm grateful for promotion, and Benarbia and Anelka, but thats almost it. He left the club in a terrible mess.

Nice bloke effing ###### manager, as stated Huckerby and the goat drama did it for me, useless.

was working up at newcastle at the time of keegans reign and the geordies i met agreed with me that the guy was clueless

Also - "Let's be honest, people don't think of his teams as tactically solid," Chris Waddle told BBC 5 Live, while BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson adds: "He's not the greatest of coaches." Quinn agrees, saying: "That is the only thing that could let Kevin down. In modern-day football, with all the systems that are used, it can be really tough."

Others have already mentioned he isn't the best long-term option either......I'd prefer him to Shearer or any other inexperienced manager but he wouldn't be on my shortlist, not immediately anyway.

SHERWOOD: Well respected as a coach but could he step up to managers post? Will bring the fans back but lots of compo!

SHEARER: Has he got what it takes to be manager? Not too sure on that one. Never come across as the brightest bloke nor the most imposing in the dressing room. So respected as a player and he will unite the fans and I imagine top players would want to play for him.

BLACK: I don't see him as Kean mkII. He seems to talk more sense than Kean and doesn't seem such a despicable chap. However, I don't want to see him as our manager. I don't Venky's will make the same mistake twice and appoint from within. I would be shocked if they did.

BAUM: Has all the attributes on paper with the statistics to back it up. To appoint him states ambition and providing he would stick around he could do a great job.

CURBISHLEY: See above. Got all the attributes but whether he would come is another thing! (Same with REDKNAPP)

MCCARTHY: Not my ideal choice but would definitely be an improvement to Kean!

TUGAY: Heart over head but wouldn't we all love to see him in charge doing well!

NEVILLE: Complete outsider and probably a non-starter but every time I watch him on TV his intelligence and tactical nous hits me like a slap in the face. Well respected in the game, would be tutored by the likes of Fergie. I just have a feeling he will be a great manager in the future.

Good summary.

I dont see Shebby giving Black the job after actually seing the interview.

Just support the caretaker for the next 2 games as he seach for a permanent manager.

From SSN interview:

Singh has insisted everyone at the club will get fully behind Black as the search continues for a permanent successor to Kean.

"Eric is in charge. He has got a game on Wednesday and a game on Saturday," said Singh.

"In this short period I would not like to put Eric under pressure and I will not use the word caretaker because he is managing the team.

I know Shebby may have rid us of Kean. But all the way through that interview all i was thinking was how many better men had sat in that chair.

Just thought I would have a little look at the latest odds out of interest and I noticed Ottmar Hitzfeld has come from nowhere to be 10/1 with Bet Victor. Just seemed a bit odd as have not seen his name mentioned anywhere and those odds are pretty low so thought I'd point it out, especially when Christoph Daum isn't even listed. Not reading too much into it as he could probably go in the same list as Harry, Rafa etc but he would be a cracking appointment.

Well i'd go for Hitzfeld every day of the week given the opportunity. Legendary manager. However, not going to happen, so i'll stop there.

It will be really interesting to see who's actually appointed with so many different opinions on the subject. As long as it's not Black, I see the positives in every manager mentioned. Would get behind any of them, bar Black. It's nothing personal, it's just that he's Kean's man and I don't think it would be appropriate, he could be anybody else and i'd still feel the same way as he and Kean were part of the same team.

Will be behind him for the next two games though as he stands in.

Christoph Daum would be amazing appointment IMO, he has managed some of Europes top clubs and his win % record speaks for itself, does anybody know if he is being considered by the club ?

He will be getting researched now after being mentioned on here!

Still has to be Holloway for me, with Fazackerley as coach.

Good Attacking football with some knowledge on defending. Ideal.

I've been keeping an eye on the odds this evening. Venkys have no idea what they're doing from one minute to the next, it's fun watching bookies trying to stay a step ahead.

I'll be honest, I haven't read all of those quotes (barely any if I'm totally honest) and I feel you've gone really OTT in your defence, especially by quoting from a msg board (I could find quotes that the moon landings were faked and One Direction are part of the Illuminati!) - but if you felt patronised, that genuinely wasn't the intention but thinking about it, I suppose in hindsight maybe you should be. I say this because think how someone of Keegan's stature would feel with you comparing him to Steve Kean - very harsh and unjust comparison!

In all seriousness, I'm not concerned with a long-term appointment in the slightest. We just need promotion. I've stated numerous times on here (before Kean went) that the types of managers who get promotion from this league aren't always the ones who can organise a defence in the Premier League (but that is of no concern as we aren't there anymore). Holloway had a very poor defensive record in the Premier League and guided his team through a horrendous run, Keegan won't happen but he would be a very good fit for what we need.

Seriously? They conceded the same amount that we did in our relegation seasons.

The Shebby interview is scary.

I can't believe noone has picked up on the amount of times he has mentioned 'Whether or not the manager is appointed from within the club or externally.'

They are wanting to do this on the cheap! If Black wins the next two, he'll get the job.

They didn't even fire Kean...let's face it...Venkys are going to make the wrong decision.....as always.

I really hope that I'm wrong but Shebby said that sentence at least three times.

It reminded me of telling someone bad news...

"I'm sure it will be fine....but something bad might happen"
