Couple close to OGS say he doesn't want job, then cryer says he does. Not sure on it myself.

I understand OGS was spoken with earlier in Kean's reign, one of the brothers might even have been involved.

My view was that he possibly thought then that too early for such a 'big' move.

A bit less pressure and focus now involved - Championship side

Why did he reject Villa, well he has strong roots in NW and clearly it would be important, if he took a job with Rovers, for his family to be settled in a familiar community.

It was more due to the owners at Molde giving OGS lots of money to buy players for and expected him to stay for at least one more year! The owner envisioned Molde becoming a solid champions league side, much like Rosenborg was during the 90s. When he heard that OGS held talks with Aston Villa the billionaire owner(at molde) threatened to cease his huge financial support for the club... Which subsequently resulted in OGS having "emergency" meeting with the owner and promised to stay.

OGS's side of the story was that he was approached by Aston Villa and that he out believed it to be good manners to hear their offer.

Some interesting new names coming up for sure.. seeing Ole and Schuster in there makes me wonder why we would still be wanting to try and talk to Sherwood..

List so far for me would be topped by Schuster followed by Ole, Daum and Grayson..

A few maybes in there only because I doubt we could get them like Holloway (who I doubt we could get) and Curbs (who I dont think would come)

As for the others Keane, Hill, Robinson, Shearer (the fact he is waiting to be contacted according to LET sums him up for me), Sherwood, Ali, Flitcroft, Sousa, McCall, Black, Larsson etc.. no thanks.

Others like Ragnik, Rijkaard, Hitzfeld (still don't get why his odds are so short in a fair few bookies), Klinsman, Rafa, Redknapp et all seem like pie in the sky stuff to me but you never know with Venkys.

Overall I would prefer someone to come in who has experience but bring someone in alongside him who could take over in time rather than the other way round. Experienced managers tend to have their staff and contacts already in place.

Will be very interested to see both of the next two games and see if any of the candidates are there.

It was basically down to the owners of Molde having a hissyfit.

Has he actually been mentioned? One of the world's best managers for sure. He's semi-retired now, and I would be amazed in the extreme if he'd be intrested in managing a Championship side.

Only in passing.. as per the comment in brackets he happens to have strange odds accross the boards at the bookies putting him in the top 8 according to Ladbrokes (10/1 and 5th), Victor (joint 6th at 25/1), skybet (10/1 and joint 4th) and paddypower (18/1 and 8th)... those odds plus my pie in the sky comment put him in the you never know with Venkys bracket.

Personally I like Roy Keane in a Souness kind of way. These players need a disciplinarian and he certainly fits 'that' bill.

He did gain promotion with Sunderland, which is obviously a positive, however, he came up well short at Ipswich recently which doesn't bode well. I still think we could do far far worse.

My preferred appointment would be Schuster or Daum, I'm pretty sure that Daum is the name Glen has alluded to earlier as who he has backed as well.

Following closely what Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been up to lately I'm confident that he will not leave Molde at this point. It was just a few months back that he turned down Aston Villa after the owners of Molde threatened to cease investing big money into the club.. This was followed by extensive talks between Solskjær and the owners which resulted in Solskjær promising to stay there for a few more seasons. There are still several games(ends in November) to be played in the Norwegian league, and they are atm at the top on the table.

OGS also managed to get Molde qualified for the group stages in the UEFA cup and that European cup adventure has just started...

In addition Lars Bohinen has gone out in the Norwegian media warning Solskjær that Blackburn might not be the correct club, having the owners in mind. If Solksjær is keen however he will seek advice from Berg, Bohinen, Pedersen etc, I'm sure.

This has become a rather big news in Norway and I expect OGS to announce in tomorrows press conference that his focus is on Molde.

Do why bother applying for the job then?

Couldn't stick Keane as a player... but I love him as a pundit. He doesn't pull any punches and puts the rest of his fellow 'experts' to shame with his straight-talkin'. Does that make him qualified to manage us? Not necessarily, but I do think that his overall attitude to the game and winning pedigree could be just what we need to clean up the godawful mess left behind by Coco. So yeah... Keane wouldn't be my ideal choice but he has his own merits. Of course, getting fans to cheer his name might be tricky after the past 18 months.

I'm really impressed so far by some of the names touted around, that is the german options and OGS (if there is any substance to these rumours), makes you wonder what the hell we were doing with Kean for two years, may be he was used as a yes man whilst they clear the deck ala Newcastle. I wouldn't be surprised that there is genuine interest from big names for the managers post. OGS for example, would have been on a hiding to nothing at Villa, it would take oil money to get them or at least be extremely unlikey to get them to the next level of challenhing the big clubs, so people might criticise him for not taking Villa anywhere. Were as the Rover job, one of the strongest squads in championship, therefore promotion is there for the taking which would straight away give the mangager kudos and put them in the shop window just like it did with Rodgers. If everything goes wrong they can always blame the circus surrounding Venkys anhd possibly come away unscathed. Plus if football people believe that Venkys are loyal that also mioght be attractive to them. I'm really hoping for an exciting appointment, who even if they fail to get us promoted this year can makes us feel we are moving forward and give us that enthusiasim to brush ourselves down and go for it next year.

How about Keane Not In. Thats what I am shouting. He has wrecked two clubs, talks a good fight but is a horrible individual as witnessed by the mess he left Ipswich in and the players he bought and sold. Comes from the same Manchester school of arrogance as "The Guvnor" and they are both failed experiments.

I advice people not to put money on Solskjær, you will most likely lose your money. It will be very interesting to see what he says

About the rumors in the press conference which will be held in 25 mins.

It doesnt matter what Lars Bohinen says, OGS will listen to fergie. If fergie says rovers is the right step for him now, he will take the job

I would think the quality of players like Nuno Gomes, Jordan Rhodes, Danny Murphy (questionable given his current playing form), Dickson Euthu and Simon Vukvenic would be pretty high in the Championship, though. But that's just me.

Gomes is 36 -37 year old

Rhodes is now playing at the highest level hes ever played at.

Murphy is 35 years old and knackered.

Etuhu maybe the fittest of the bunch you mention.

Vukevic never plays so why mention him ?

Having said all of that we need eleven plus players of the best standard to compete at this level and they also have to play as a team as well.

"KEANE IN. KEANE IN. KEANE IN". Simple.

Although I hope we don't hear it because I think he's a shocking manager.

Football management has moved on since the days of having a disciplinarian in charge - I can't think of any currently being successful in the top two divisions. He's awful in the transfer market and has been found wanting tactically on my occassions.
