Yep, hasn't applied but says if he were contacted he'd be interested as Blackburn is a former club close to his heart, but things would have to change no matter who took charge. Body language wise and the way he spoke he wants the job but if that's the case why not apply?

I think this is 12 months too late for Curbs and under present circumstances and requirements, is possibly seen as another of yesterday's men.

I understand he came very close to taking over from Kean at one stage but we know who wears the trousers at Venkys.

I am still very confident that OGS will become our next manager.

Besides the "nattering" you heard between solksjaers mrs' friends, what makes you think that? Just out of curiosity of course.

I won't be betting on this next managers market, it's a minefield. My money's heading to the Arc meeting only.

What did Shearer say?

Basically said he hasn't contacted them nor has he heard from them. He said if they contacted him he would listen, and that Rovers is a lovely club. Then he said that the next manager going in would want major change in the way the club is run, mentioning the rumours about Kean being undermined and forced to resign.

Sounds like he is interested if they are but would want guarantees.

I will say what I have said in earlier posts.

Firstly, I understand that there has been previous contact between Rovers & OGS earlier in Kean's reign and I think that the interest is still very much alive.

Secondly, I personally didn't hear what you refer to in your posts. What I did say is that we have family in Cheshire and it would be no surprise to some folk in the Bramhall area if the Solksjaers did not return to the area soon. Let's just leave it there.

Curbishley leaves me completely flat.

As Jim says he's been out of the game for almost 5 years now, you would have to question why that is. At West Ham, I would say that even Kean would've kept them up if an on-fire Tevez was in the side. At Charlton, my recollection is that they'd do OK until New Year's and then completely go to pot, just about scraping clear of the relegation zone. Admittedly that was on limited resources, but I don't find him an inspirational figure.

It's not an easy field to pick from, and seems easier to exclude candidates than include them. At the risk of repeating myself, I'd go for Solksjaer or di Canio. Are there any other lower league managers that are potential hot new prospects, and I don't mean Flitcroft or Jansen?

It's going to be a harder job than it looks, since although we're in the play-off spots, the squad has lost real leadership, is unfit, disorganised and is peppered with no-marks and has-beens. As such, i feel we are in a false position. I wonder if Kean quit because he didn't think he could get us up, and leaving at that stage would enhance his reputation by making it look like he'd been forced out despite doing a good job.

It sounds almost comical - Al with his enormous experience telling a club to change how it operates because of rumours... whilst waiting for them to call him, what a tool! (yes he was the best striker i have ever seen but no thanks as manager)

from Shearer comments, he wants the job and his comments back this. But he wants things to be done his way like Control of transfers and picking his own coachng staff.

EXTERMINATE!

I think a good rule of thumb is to go after someone who is actually gainfully employed right now, and whose team is prospering. That would seem to be a good starting point. Much better than thinking of people who would get the fans back on the owners' side, or who did OK 6 years ago. Bloody madness to think like that, we can't afford to play it fast and loose. We need to find the right boxes to tick before ticking them off. Football is an evolving sport, we need someone who is developing right now and so would not need any period of adjustment. Otherwise we may as well appoint George Graham.

Shearer didn't hang around at Newcastle, and he flirted with Cardiff before abandoning that idea. I may be wrong, but it seems to me he is someone who is not convinced of his own managerial ability. I would actually prefer Newell to Shearer. Just my own perception, but he would seem to be more of a thinker. But again, not been in the managerial game for a while.

I think last season proved Kenny had been out of the game too long.....and I can't see the attraction for him to come here.

His reputation is quite tarnished atm from the Suarez affair in particular and maybe he doesn't want to do any further damage.

Or he feels like he has nothing else to prove and doesn't need the money.

Don't most Liverpool fans agree that he was let go unfairly? They weren't doing fantastially, but then again when is the last time Liverpool were doing good in the league? Dalglish is a good manager, always has been...would rather have him than a lot of the rookies, Championship managers or foreigners who have never managed an English club mentioned so far.

I live in Liverpool. Most here think he is out of touch and keaned away a ton of money [they wish they still had] on over priced players. He is still massivly loved for everything he did in the past but the vast majority were glad to see him go.

Still a million times better than Kean and probably Shearer as well.

It's the international break now and Rovers desperately need a new manager in place before the next league match.

They have plenty of interest according to Singh and he / Venky's need to make a decision. The club cannot continue in this limbo.

The number one trait which our next manager must possess: Bravery.

It's the only way out of this league, and I'm sure I'm not alone in being completely sick of negative, worry-about-the-opposition football.

Disgraceful "performance" against Wolves.

the more i look at reports tdy ...more we need a trainer, coach and diciplinarian as a manager ..... we are having good players ,playing crap .....running around like headless chicken ...

now i have learned something new from kean & team , you can train a player with good manager and coaching team , you can also de-train/ kean up a player with kean &Co

shuster , daum ,rijkaard or OGS pls ..... no has-been or legend players for publicity stunts .... we need major reworks from ground up ....

I fully agree, arrogant beyond belief.

We won't see any possible improvement until the new manager comes in and shakes up the place. For far too long the players have had it it too easy under Kean and his staff, there is a clear lack of fitness at the club and a lack of team spirit.

It's imperative we find a new manager before our next game, the longer this drags on the more we might lose ground on the sides around us looking for promotion.

Bumped into Dowie coming out of Ewood and suggested that that performance would surely signal an end to any interest Shearer might have - all I got was a wry smile.

Don't know if Newell was there, he was expected to be there.
