[Archived] Booing Players

Recommended Posts

Abusing Keef was wrong.

But Murphy is at another level of shyte....no legs,no respect for BR in past,on a big pay day and regarded as a 'sacred cow' by the so-called management. It was crying out for David Dunn on saturday.

Any new manager has to sort Murphy's situation(and Simon).

Can we not just boo Braddock?

I'd rather you did that than boo the players. I'd be like a modern day Jesus, but real.

So abusing him is ok?

Braddock needs to meet the woman in front of us in the JW Upper.

Plus the woman in the pub afterwards.

They were so spot on I would have either of them as manager.

Oh and both would tackle Braddock(metaphorically)!

Or you could save me the hassle by posting their opinions and letting me decide if I agree with them.

It carried about as much relevance on here as you do.

Telling somebody who is saying that calling somebody and black **** is not racist that they lose and posting a clip that says this and also hints that the matter is closed is relevant, hence why I did it. Though this is not the thread to discuss it. You should have kept your reply in that thread.

I think you may be using the right words but in the wrong order, then again I might be wrong

To return to the OP, I think it's an important point. I was in the JW Upper on Saturday, and even there there were plenty of people booing and screaming at Murphy. I agree that he's been sub-par this season, and he looked disinterested on Saturday, but he's played, what, 10 games or so, for us and deserves a chance. I know we're paying him a lot of money, but give him time before we completely write him off. I don't think there's anything to be gained from screaming abuse at the guy, and after the 2 years we've had, we should be having a break from that kind of negativity. Get behind the team and allow some time for the damage inflicted by you know who to heal.

On which note, I have to say I was surprised, at both Charlton and the Wolves game, by how flat the atmosphere was. I thought it'd be a party atmosphere after finally seeing the back of the snake, but the fans still seem very reluctant to make some noise and get behind the team. Perhaps it's a sign of just how much damage the guy has inflicted, and hopefully the right managerial appointment will bring some positivity back (we need to reclaim that word for a start!).

as with a lot of clubs, their fans will boo players but from time to time and will find a certain player to direct their displeasure at, no matter what he does. as i see it at every single rovers home game, the fans move on from one scapegoat to the next, whenever it suits.in recent memory we've had the axe, keith andrews, morten and now danny murphy. in recent seasons, MGP has been the subject of more derision from the fans than most others, some of that being rather unsavoury.....but absolute top credit to him, has stayed true to the cause. when he was warming up on the sideline last saturday, he was widely applauded from the fans in that particular area and beyond. no doubt some of the very fans that have slagged him off in the past so what gives, you tell me? danny murphy has been absolute pants so far this season. for me there is no doubt about his passing ability, just that he aint used it. the biggest issue is his fitness levels but probably more important his body language on the pitch, which has been obvious and awful. it is the way that the players are being coached!! i hate the way we aree playing, but wont boo any individual player, rather the team as a whole.

His body language has been good when it comes to getting into postions to receive the ball. He's always looked for it from the defence. He may not be the fastest tracker back but he might not be expected to do that given his age. Given he's had Etuhu to sweep up I imagine he'll have been told to reserve energy to pull the strings a bit, rather than him just not being bothered. It isn't proving fruitful at the moment but seeing some chav run up to him to shout abuse as he's about to take a corner in the riverside/blackburn end area sums up some of the clowns who are coming down.

Well fortunately the biggest clown has now left, so we just need to concentrate on the chavs

a question for you braddock. Given the fact that you have been on a long crusade, where you´ve constantly berated and critisized your fellow fans, how do you see your own contribution when it comes to unity.?

I have a hard time taking your OP seriously. Its beyond hypocritical. Here we have a person who blasts his fellow fans and has the nerve to critisize them for blasting the players. Then you say others are being too quick to judge and in general are too judgemental, but thats the exact same way you are towards your fellow fans. It doesnt make sense.

Regarding individual player criticism, I'm with those who would only do it if there was a clear lack of effort from the player. Players like Andrews, Pedersen, Roberts etc should never have received the stick they got, what can they do if they're trying their best and the manager keeps picking them? Its self-satisfied bullying basically.

Regarding Murphy, well I don't think he's putting the effort in so far this season. I've yet to verbally criticise him at matches, and I actually thought he was better on saturday. But he's not doing a lot to dispel the pompous, arrogant, superior attitude his past dig at Rovers style had led me to believe was the norm for him.

We've been booing our own players since I first started going; left winger Brian Hill was the first target of choice I can recall, I'm sure there will have been some before him.

It seems to be more prevalent at Ewood than other grounds, I remember hearing Jimmy Armfield commentating at a match saying Ewood has always been more of a jury than a crowd. I don't recall every being at an away game and hearing the home fans mercilessly pick on a player.

It's almost a valid point (that the original poster is making).

...but due to who posted it, and their previous track record of posting purely to wind up Rovers fans, it's difficult to take it even slightly serious.
