  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

A number of none Rovers sources are telling me that Shearer will be new manager and will be in place before Wednesday.

Would be a surprise but not beyond the realms of possibility.

So IF it is Shearer how would people feel?

Not happy, as it would mean another year outside the Premiership.

The situation would be comical though. Venky's desperately need promotion this season, and in an environment where there are more than one pretty sure fire options to achieve this, they go for Big Al.

I know Bats. I was just being a pr1ck for the sake of it. I used to enjoy the cutting wit of S15 so i thought i'd try to goad you into it!

I would be happy about his appointment.

If his backroom team is Dowie and Newell both experience managers. both no nonsense type of people. Dowie has got promote with Palace before. also Shearer will have bring in a new head of fitness and sport science cos our players is shocking.

Also think Shearer has a massive point to make after newcastle reign and will bring passion and commitment to the team.

See Shearer, Dowie and Newell team like King Kenny, Ray Harford and Tony Parkes will. Shearer the manager like KK, and Dowie and Newell the coach likr RH and TP was.

He has a lot of similar traits to Kenny Dalglish in terms of make-up and philosophy. So, if he does as well as Kenny did in his managerial career, we should be fine.

Dowie will be number 2 and make no mistake, the guy is a very good number 2. Not the 'smoothest' of operators but he knows the game inside out.

Mercerman, i like you more with every passing day. Was hoping to bump into you at the Wolves match for a cheeky Blue Nun!

Dowie wouldn't do any harm to this bunch on easy street.

agreed

If a number of people knew he would be in by wednesday his odds wouldnt be 22/1 on skybet

Personally i think he would be good, stand up to the owners. Hopefully he would bring newell aswell as dowie

get a tenner on him then.

Indeed. Due to the overall IQ of the board dropping significantly over the last couple of years I've had to dumb it down a bit.

I would feel that it's an appointment could have happened three weeks ago and shows that Shebby has failed to bring in who he wanted

On the appointment itself I'd be relatively happy IF he brought in an experienced number two

I'd like to know the financial implications of not bouncing straight back, would it be doomsday as footballing wise it wouldn't be too bad building a proper team and taking the league by storm next season. Worryingly I think we may have shot ourselves in the foot with the likes of Murphy

Yes to Shearer.

Someone who knows the game, has played and been successful. Put all that against what we've had for the last 2 years (Kean) and we have a massive improvement.

Yes there can be reservations, but the same could be said for Sherwood and even McCarthy who's PL record (if we got back there) is shocking. As for Billy McKinlay, the least said the better.

We took Hughes as a novice and it worked, others haven't but i'd be willing to take the risk.

You can't read too much into Shearer's short stint at Newcastle either as they were already doomed when he got the job.

Mercerman, I love your posts and insight but you have got to be taking the kean! Shearer and Dalglish in the same breath is an insult. Yes Al was the best player I have ever seen in blue and white shirt but has Kean all track record apart from sitting on a sofa spouting not very insightful keans!

How is Shearer better than McKinlay. One is a highly regarded coach who has spent 8 years working as a coach in the premier league the other has sat on his backside making daft comments on match of the day. I hope it isn't Alan 'don't know Ben arfa' Shearer. Seriously this isn't the time to gamble on an unproven coach.

Shame. Every messageboard needs a bad guy. Is the Batman thing ironic? I'd have definately had you down as the Joker, Riddler or Penguin.

I didn't broadcast my "true identity." A bit like Batman you see. It was very complicated and well thought out.

i just cant see it, if shearer was high on the list, it would have happened weeks ago, how has singh done a complete u-turn when there have been other candidates in for job, i thought shearer didnt have any backing from the powers within ewood? saying that i would be delighted with shearer and i would take back everything i have said about singh
