  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Two promotions in eight attempts is not brilliant. You only have to read Roy Keane's book to see how rank amateurish McCarthy is.

Two promotions in eight attempts?!

Sort of hard to include his time at Millwall as it was about 20 years ago now, but 1992-93 was his first season, and 1993-94 he made the play offs before being appointed Ireland manager the following season.

Since then with Sunderland, he took over in late season 03/04 when the club were practically relegated. 04/05 he made it to the play offs, 05/06 they were Football League champions. After that they didn't do too well in the PL though.

With Wolves, he inherited a difficult situation where they had to sell most of their good players and promised PL football within three seasons. First time (06/07) he made the play offs despite people not expecting them to, second season (07/08) was one point from the playoffs, and third season (08/09) he won the Championship.

So with Sunderland and Wolves, he's had five attempts in the Championship, won the league twice, made the playoffs twice and just missed the playoffs once. Great record, surely?

Did you actually the post of mine you replied to? This isn't the 70s anymore, the police don't need the victim to press charges anymore, they can prosecute themselves so it doesn't matter whether they are intimidated or not.

yes I did, did you read your reply? as Pafell posted the Police did not just turn up for a social call

McKinley was a nightmare for the last 12 months of his spell at Ewood, allegedly faking injury and picking up his wages, left a sour taste in the mouth for me, so no thanks!

But the rumour mill is saying it could be him.

As for Shearer, no thanks, we need experience not another TV pundit

Two people arguing loudly. Neighbour calls police. Police turn up.

No crime has been committed but the police still turn up because they are duty bound to respond to every call they get. I can't believe you are making the argument that because the police attend a call out that proves something criminal actually happened. Maybe go talk to a policeman and ask them how many of the calls they get turn out to be something of nothing, it's certainly a much higher figure than you or Paffell think.

Call me a square but I tend to follow the innocent til proven guilty mantra as a general rule (there are exceptions like Jimmy Savile where the evidence is so overwhelming I'll assume guilt without a trial) and all we have here is a story of a police call out.

Anyway, this thread isn't the place to continue this conversation.

Lots of rumours about Mckinlay in his last 12/18 months at Rovers.

Didn't play much and when he did, IMO, he needn't have bothered as his attitude seemed very, very poor.

IMO, too close to Kean in more ways than one.

As for Hendry, you really have to ask if he is the right 'role model' we want at our club ? IMO, he has very little to offer football wise and carries too much personal baggage. I would never have taken him back and, IMO, needs very quickly to be shown the exit door.

I was going to say that as well hardly, not a Hendry fan but there's no point having a justice system if you're just going to presume guilt every time the police make an arrest.

The police don't muck about with domestic violence anymore, this isn't the 70s where they could turn up to a house with a blooded and beaten women but couldn't do anything because the victim said she'd walked into a door; nowadays they don't need the victim's consent to press charges.

Clearly there was no evidence and it was probably nothing more than heated argument that concerned the noisy neighbours into calling the fuzz.

Exactly,

p.s. there some really hypocritical, ignorant posters on here.

You can't gloss over this and hang your entire opinion on Shearer being a failure on similar circumstances.

That's a wholly inaccurate comparison.

Firstly, the circumstances weren't similar, McCarthy took over eight points from safety with nine games left.

Shearer took over when Newcastle were two points behind us in 17th place with a superior goal difference and eight games left.

Secondly and more importantly, the failures in McCarthys career are counterbalanced by his numerous successes. The same can't be said about Shearer.

you know the facts then? talk about ignorance, it could be they did not have ENOUGH evidence, this time!

I replied in the Hendry thread

the facts(again!)- "He was released without charge a few hours later and there will be no further action against him",

I'm not saying Hendrys an angel by any means.

sorry for going off topic, this is the last from me.

That is one fact that has been reported, he was not arrested on a whim therefore probably released on the advice of the CPS

Like most people on this board, I pretty much associate myself with upstanding decent people. I don't know a single one of my friends that has been arrested on domestic violence charges. Does anyone else?

You can talk about the facts all you like, but this coupled with the website about Hendry not paying back his neighbours loan (very easily searchable and never subject to any legal action by Hendry) together with a few other stories and it certainly paints a picture.

you may not think associate with "these types of people" but you probably come into contact with them everyday(unless you live in a little bubble somewhere).

didn't realise there was a hendry thread until too late sorry, why is there no option to delete your own posts on this forum?
