  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Any organisation needs personnel in key positions to be almost whiter than white. No one individual is perfect but there is a marked difference between a smaller indiscretion and some of the stuff out there in the open.

Perhaps even more so in a football club.

Rovers have taken somewhat of a battering over the last two years with stories about Kean and Hendry (some factual, some alleged and some speculative) that can only have an adverse impact on Rovers' credibility. It doesn't stop there, as a parent, would you allow your talented young son to be 'schooled' in such an organisation ?

One thing is for certain, Jack Walker would not have had any truck with this in any shape or form.

Agreed, every day it seems that more reasons emerge for me not to go back until these cowboys have been removed

As I was 4 at the time we won the league, the notion of Shearer as manager holds no water with me whatsoever. Club legend? Yes. But I can only remember his playing days at Newcastle and his kean poor managerial spell there. To me, suggesting Shearer be our manager is like suggesting McKinlay. Just not uplifting in any way. Hell, for 'romance' I'd rather have Flitcroft and Jansen (who have actually been manager and coach at clubs for a couple of years, rather than 8 games).

That being said, I don't want them either. We need a sensible pair of hands and the likes of Holloway, McCarthy offer that. OGS would be a fair target imo too. I just hope that the Ollie rumours are true, but I'm used to disappointment since Venkys came here.

Roll on some randomer called McKinlay.

Makes me mad some of the crap written on here, most are saying Holloway, lets be honest he did nothing really until he went to Blackpool okay he got them up and then relegated, (similar to McCarthy) they stared off okay this season but have now slipped back and after watching the game against Bumley I don't see him as our savior but if he comes i will give him 100%, as for Shearer i would think he would do a great job with Dowie as no2, give a massive lift to the club and remember there are a few thousand supporters who don't read this forum that would also welcome Mr Shearer with open arms, so lets support whoever gets the gig eh.

This argument could have been used when we hired Kean too. It didn't wash then and it doesn't wash now.

This is a crucial juncture in our clubs' history, I could name dozens of clubs in the Football League who could take risks with inexperienced managers right now and the future of their club wouldn't be too different if the guy was a failure.

With us, we have so much riding on getting promoted soon. We have players on big wages, signed for big money, by owners who don't have that much cash. The parachute payments are what are keeping us going, but they dry up in two years and we will have a massive financial black hole as our matchday revenues are pretty tiny. So not only will we struggle to get promoted but financially it could well ruin us.

That's why a low risk manager with a much higher chance of getting us promoted is so important for our club.

And if we are going to find an emerging talent, how does Shearer qualify when there's absolutely no evidence he's any sort of emerging managerial talent?

Only your opinion

Great contribution to the discussion.

Might be my opinion, but it's supported by a lot of facts.

Which is more than can be said for some.

S.R. couldn`t agree more with your previous post on Shearer. It would be a massive step backwards. Lol I think some on here think he`s coming back to play for us

Could probably do a better job than some.

There's a time to take gambles (when you are in a strong position that the risk is acceptable, because it's easy to recover your losses if you lose), and there's a time to play it safe (basically, when you're up against it).

Clearly we are in position 2 right now.

The only thing I'm certain of is that NO appointment will unite the fans. There will always be someone who will complain about the manager whomever we end up with.

Now that Kean is gone we simply have to get behind the next manager - even in the unlikely event it's Black.

Personally I'd prefer Holloway - who incredibly some don't want/rate - however Shearer would be a step up from Kean/Black whichever way we look at it.

Meow, is it warm in Aussie land

you should realize you are no longer allowed to have an opposing view on this forum.

If Solskjaer and Sherwood are completely out of the equation then i'd like to see a management team figure headed by Shearer in place, realistically it would actually be no more of a risk than Holloway or McCarthy but i think the rewards could be much much higher if its a success(on and off the field).

If its true that Shearer would like Dowie and Holloway with him, those two have pretty much just as good a record in the lower divisions(out of the prem) as holloway and McCarthy, so there would be the needed 'experiance'.

It makes for a quieter thread but Stuart is the voice of reason.

And if Uncle Jack had had his way Alan Shearer would already be the Manager ca 1996.

We need an injection of hope and enthusiasm, which is why I would be deliriously happy if we got Holloway or Shearer.

hearing whispers that it is Shearer in for Wednesday.

seroius ,you thought it would have been on here already.

The point was that The Sun are confident enough in it to report it. Hence red-top comment.

Thanks for your smart-ar$e meme posting, though. You're very clever, aren't you? Very special. I bet you're just a joy to be around.

breath slow and learn off unkle abs....chilllllllll
