In response to a question of what point McKinley became the frontrunner -

Alan Nixon@reluctantnicko

@thesage001 Just now. Came up over weekend, advanced, approach made. Up to Shebby. Don't think Shaw knew anything about it. #ohdear

This is the Alan Nixon that seems to actively push the plus side of things from the SEM stable and what remains of Team Kean at the club isn't it, he wouldn't be to happy with Singh for helping rid us of the "gem" who does a good presser would he , perhaps this should be taken with a very big pinch of salt much like the sob story dramas on Sky Sports News last year.

If on the outside chance this is the preferred option of someone , then the questions of who is ultimately in charge of the club not just on paper needs to be looked at again

They had Shearer on Fox Soccer USA yesterday afternoon for a minute or 2. The first question asked was about the Rovers job, not the weekend's games. Whether he was taken aback or was trying not to give anythying away, he ummed and ahhed a little bit then said that nobody from Rovers has spoken to him. He then went on to say that he is happy where he is blah blah blah. I can't remembe the rest but it was inconsequential.

Yeah, I've certainly read about the atmosphere, although, for the sake of safety, I might stay out of "Die Ostkurve" for the first few matches. I've never done very well in a riot.

Ye we ended up in the tier above it, must admit it's the most "nervous" I've ever been at a ground

I think Shebby would be pushing back hard against this story if it was the case that Nicko is telling lies.

If you look at the criteria Shebby laid out for the manager then Billy McK fits into it perfectly.

Also Nicko reported Ian Holloway as one the 'Team SEM' camp were chasing, it was proven to be right and would have been a welcome appointment.

You're quite sure of that, Veevs?

I could be horribly mistaken, but there are a few things that go in favor of Veevs's rule. Firsly, it won't make sense for Shebby Singh to appoint Steve Kean's best mate after kicking Kean out of the club (with a lot of trouble and in a roundabout manner). McKinley himself probably wouldn't be too fond of Shebby Singh after what he did to Kean. So I'm not sure if he wants McKinley either because there's enmity between them.

On the other hand you have Paul Agnew, Steve Kean's other best mate, fuming after his pal got forced to resign, and the best friend of your best friend is your mate. So it seems more likely that McKinley is an Agnew name rather than Shebby Singh's. On the plus side, maybe Earl's friend from inside the club is on Agnew's side and so decides to discredit Shebby Singh by making him out to be a power-hungry monster who wants only a puppet he can string along. Sherwood will never be a puppet, and probably shortly after McKinley signs for Rovers (and signalling Agnew's victory), Shebby Singh resigns. I mean, think about it. If you're Kean's best mate, whose puppet are you going to be? Shebby Singh, the guy who practically kicked your pal out, or Agnew, your buddy's other best mate? Obvious, isn't it?

And we'll be back where we started, with a new Kean in charge and Agnew laughing at us from behind the shadows.

What garbage. How many times do I have to tell people I have no bloody side!? I want the best for the club, they're generally all a bunch of muppets. Shaw wanted Holloway, that's the only positive thing i've ever said about him.

McKinlay is Shebby's choice, ask everyone ITK.

I did say I could be horribly wrong. And when did I accuse you of having a side? I'm saying your ITK friend might be on Agnew's side, not you. Maybe not, but is it possible?

Edit: I did mention earlier that Andrew Cryer and Glen Mullan seem to indicate that Shebby Singh is after someone else, and not McKinley. They're pretty sure McKinley won't happen, and another manager has been approached before McKinley was. According to them, this is the guy who will come in on Wednesday.

Ok I will take this statement as you have been consistent with it, but do you know if it is Shebby's choice or is it the choice of someone higher in the food chain that shebby has been instructed to act on

Sigh......never mind, just ignore my previous posts (almost everyone is doing that anyway), I think my speculation is wrong. Probably Earl and all the ITKs are correct, so carry on bashing Shebby Singh and his decision to appoint McKinley. Not going to speculate on what's going on anymore, I'm going to end up mistaken anyway.

Are we sure McKinlay has been approcahed about the manager's position and not a coaching role under a different manager? *pray*

Depends which conspiracy you believe. Either way he ends up with the same job title.

For those who bought season tickets straight after Kean resigned more fool you. Holding out could have put pressure on the dipsticks in charge to get a manager in faster than they have.

Now you have a season ticket and we may well have an appalling manager given the job. What a waste of money. Personally I won't spend a penny on a team that bends its supporters over a table and pounds them senseless, then gives them hope they have changed only to do it again.
