REG OF THE ROVERS.

WOUNDS TO DEEP

Blackburn Rovers plans to appoint ex Rover and Fulham coach Billy McKinlay (pic above) are a grave mistake.

McKinlay is a close friend of Steve Kean, having worked together at Fulham and being fellow Scott’s. You cannot appoint anyone associated with Kean, the supporter’s wounds run to deep. Even appointing a Scotsman at this stage is a dubious decision.

To also link Chris Sutton As a possible part of a new management team is a ‘double whammy’ mistake.

Sutton was a firm supporter of Kean and would not have a wrong word said against him. Sutton is also not a popular character. Where ever he has been, Chris Sutton has found it difficult to connect with people both inside and outside the dressing room. His management career is a disaster (ask Lincoln City) although a prolific striker, Sutton has made few friends amongst his team mates, his presence at Ewood Park would be a grave mistake and hark back to the dark days of Steve Kean.

It would appear to me that “to many cooks spoil the broth” at Ewood Park. Shebby Singh wants certain people to succeed Kean. Chief Executive Derek Shaw, wants others. The two cannot agree on anything and with Kean supporter and confidant Paul Agnew, Director of operations, in the back ground, Singh is receiving little support.

Singh wants Tim Sherwood, an excellent choice, and is determined to still pursue his target despite Spurs refusal to give permission to approach Sherwood. The deal with Sherwood’s agent regarding contract and remit etc are done and dusted. But Singh needs one final push to land Sherwood but is not been given the backing and support he needs.

Rover’s are in danger of losing the feel good factor and euphoria following Kean’s departure if they do not show a united front and act positively.

It is all becoming a bit of a farce with just about everyone possible being associated with the vacant management’s position.

Shebby Singh would have turned to Alan Shearer, if attempts to land Sherwood fail. But Derek Shaw has blocked the move on the grounds that Shearers presence at Ewood would be to high profile and deflect from the task of winning promotion, allied with his inexperience of coaching and managing, Shaw feels Shearer has spent to long on the Match of the Day couch. Maybe Shaw is right, but one thing is for sure Shearer would put ‘bums on seats’ and give Rovers a massive media profile.

The upsurge in support since Kean’s departure, estimated at 4,000 fans returning to the club, must be built upon.

I don’t think the appointment of Fulham’s coach Billy McKinlay will do that.

If Rovers are to appoint someone of that calibre then no one better than ex Rover Keith Hill of Barnsley. He would jump at the chance having worked miracles at the Yorkshire Club on no money at all. My choice many months ago was Lee Clarke now at Birmingham also working without any financial backing. Both these managers are big names of the future.

But the bottom line is that Rovers must avoid anyone even slightly connected with Kean or the club will die a swift death.

Reg.

Can't beleive most people on here and twitter don't even know who Billy Mckinlay is, at one point he was a bit of a fans favourite in his time for his tough tackling no messing midfield game he brought to the rovers teams. Not saying I won't him, just that surely we should know who he is.

Something doesn't sit right when the dots are joined together on the McKinley link.

- The board at Ewood consists of staunch Kean supporters - even during the latter days of his tenure

- At least one of these Kean supporters is apparently at odds with Singh over the choice of manager (and being painted as the sane voice against Singh's crusade to become mentor to the next Mourinho)

- Kean is apparently suing the club for constructive dismissal - or some other form of compensation - yet...

- Kean's "close friend" is linked with the vacant managers role (suggesting Kean still has some influence?)

- He who must not be named has nothing to do with the club anymore - we are led to believe - yet...

- McKinley is seemingly a SEM client

- The new manager is supposed to be in for Wednesday but...

- We only approach Fulham to speak to him on the Monday and are rejected

- Meanwhile the fans are being split again about how foolish they think Singh is based on the above rumours

- Glen - someone apparently close to Singh - is adding weight to the alleged positions of Shaw and co (almost strengthening the arguments of the doubters)

Either there is a massive conspiracy theory going on (still?), someone is trying to flush out a leak, or there is a load of cobblers being spouted.

Or Singh really does think Billy is the next Jose and the links to Kean/SEM are simply an unfortunate coincidence.

I've no idea whether that Reg of the Rovers character has any accurate info or is just talking out of his backside.

But interesting he claims Sherwood is all sat there with his bags packed ready to leave as soon as we pay Spurs the requisite compensation.

Still think we will end up with Karl Robinson, don't know why just a gut feeling! The big problem with McKinlay is he would defiantly want to come here and will force the issue, which is different than Sherwood, who I am being told was not that bothered about coming here. They have said right from the off, that they want a young up and coming guy,not necessarily a manager and preferably British,so I think we can kiss goodby to Hollowak,McCarthy etc,I think Robinson or Freedman could do a job,but you would have thought after Harford,Kidd and Kean all coaches who all failed they would see sense.I think they are obviously looking at what's happened at Reading,Southhampton and Swansea, big gamble, you just never know who turns out a success, but whoever it is I will still be going to Ewood and give my full support to whoever it might be,like a previous poster said a Newcastle poll had Pardew nowhere,,when they were in turmoil, but at least he was a manager and not a coach,so please Shebby take note, because he ain't doing a bad job up there.

Reg of the Rovers have some crazy posts in the past, including Scottish mafia, Venkys conspiracies, etc.

By the way, I read online somewhere that the 3rd mystery manager is Alan Shearer, so with Kinley out of the question (thanks to Fulham, yay), it's become a 2-horse race between Shearer and Holloway, with Shebby Singh and Derek Shaw staring down each other and refusing to back off. Huh. Just rumors, though, and I find it unlikely, but just thought you guys might want to know.

That seems to be to some extent what good old Reg is saying to be fair. Although he ain't saying McKinlay is off.

Shebby wants Sherwood but the owners won't stump up for his latest "must have" toy.

So he's turned to Shearer but is being blocked by Shaw. Who might still be smarting that Singh blocked his choice of Holloway.

Whether any of it is true who knows but it corresponds with the inertia and a lot of other rumours which have been doing the rounds.

I reckon we should start backing Shaw as he knows more about how to run a club than Shebby, his early time at Preston he did really well. Put it this way I would rather have Hollaway who has been there and done it rather than Mckinley(Kean part 2)

Coach or manager is irrelevant. Freedman is inexperienced similar to Kean (and McKinlay, and Sherwood, and Shearer etc etc) - last thing we need at present.

Really - I thought he'd been employed by Palace as a manager since Jan. 2011 and done a feckin good job !!!

what i dont get is singh talks about looking for the next mourinho etc yet he doesnt know the first thing about billy mac, how can he turn towards a guy that coaches reserves, who has no experience of management, he goes off the say so of a couple of billy mckinley's mates, gerry armstrong, danny murphy and the like, how could he possibly think this guy could be the next big thing, if it had been an internal appointment then fair enough, hes risking the club's future in the hope it may turn out to be a good move when there are plenty of experienced managers out there, if we were in a stable position in the premierleague then maybe you could take a chance but not when we are already a few points of the promotion places, im just bewildered at the stupidy of the man. It really makes my stomach turn

McKinlay goes back a long way with Kean and they are very close pals - you just couldn't make this situation up, truly and utterly insane.

Completely irrelevant in truth.

There is though a common link between three out of four of our supposed main targets - three out of four are ex players and then there is Shaw's alleged preference for Holloway.

Shebby must think that appointing an ex player will automatically get most of the fans onside.

You might be on to something there, wonder if Shebby has been talking to blue eyed boy Murphy, him telling Shebby to get Mckinley and that he will get the team playing like Fulham on a good day and that he will then start playing well.

Who is David Lowe?

The owners though, have no special plans to finally get the fans back on their side.

“I think no other club has invested as much in the Championship, as we have. We are nobody to win them (the fans) back, but results will help us move forward,” he concluded.
