I've got to +100 that as well.

See, it's so obvious. We're all saying it. We need a proper manager in. Now isn't the time to gamble. McCarthy is that man, he'd take no crap and would demand to be left to run the club properly - with budgets in place of course. And that rules him, Holloway, proper experienced "football people" out.

The really gutting thing about it is if we had a normal club we'd have appointed one of those two by now as they are the obvious choices for a club in Rovers current position. And they would both take the job too. They'd just need assurances that they can do the job without hindrance, obviously within reason, for example if another team wants to buy our star player for a lot of money. Someone like Holloway isn't going to balk at that as it's the way of the world.

Why those assurances can't be given I don't know. It really does seem like employing a manager is a token gesture to appease the fans that someone is actually "managing the club", but in actual fact they don't want them to manage and want to tell them how to do their job. Goodness knows why you would want to do that. Success should be the only goal, not who is able to shout the loudest. It's like they think the manager of the football club is like employing a Mayor, in that they just turn up, talk a bit and are the figurehead.

Although I did hear that Balaji really does want the best man for the job but Shebby has convinced him his way is best. I just hope Shaw and some of the other people who are showing a bit of common sense in this decision are heard by those holding the purse strings.

Talking of purse strings, this isn't about a cheap appointment. Seems more about politics. Money doesn't seem to be a problem in appointing someone. As someone has said, Sherwood wouldn't have come cheap. In fact a good cheaper option than Sherwood is being totally ignored.

Message to Venky's.

Bin Shebby, Shaw, Agnew, Black & Hendry tonight.

Pick-up the phone and get Tom Finn & Tony Parkes in Ewood & Brockhall respectively tomorrow and start again.

The supporters might then just give you one last chance.

Don't really think either would be up for it but what a good shout. Particularly Tom Finn.

why tony parkes? this isnt the 1990s. football has moved on, the guy has been out of the game for so long, if you had said john williams, then yes

I take it he meant on a very temporary caretaker basis. I'd support anything that took Black's influence away from the team personally.

We just can't win with these muppets. Clearly getting rid of Kean was imperative at almost any price. There was no possible way the club could move forward with him there. I could even forgive the complete absence of any sensible plan to replace him but now we are left with someone driving the bus so utterly void of conviction that they are undertaking a u-turn of neck breaking proportions.

That is not to say McKinley is not a horrendous idea. He would be a frankly horrific appointment in the circumstances but the man's there to get things done. Not change his mind every five minutes in an attempt to be everyone's mate.

Beggar's belief.

I just hope Singh can be locked in a room somewhere whilst we get a proper manager drunk long enough to be convinced these clowns are worth taking a punt on. It's the only way out of this mess.

Whoever is chosen deserves a fair crack. Anyone chanting \ booing and cancelling season tickets is to me unfair and irrational.

I'm a little disgusted at the McKinley link, but I'll give him a chance - give them rope and either use it to pull us, or hang themselves.

how exactly can they hang themselves though, the outcome is always going to be that the club literally falls apart and the fans are left with nothing but memories.

Already been done, and he didn't have to get them drunk.

They can find 8 mill for a striker but not fork out considerably less for a manager. We only have to look at what Jack did in getting Kenny. Nothing would have followed on without that move. Come to think of it in he last 20 years (note to Venkys) we've always been prepared to pay well for the most important position at the club.

Don't really think either would be up for it but what a good shout. Particularly Tom Finn.

They don't even have to employ them ! Just ask for their advice ! It's not hard is it Rev ? But no, we're kidding ourselves, that would be far too an obvious and sensible thing for them to do. How would that sell chickens in Vietnam ?

I was so positive and excited the days after Kean was gone. I was filled with hope.

But now I realise that the problem was never Kean (although he obviously was a problem of course), but the problem is simply Venkys.

As long as they are here we are in big trouble! They dont learn from their mistakes, and they dont seem to want to learn about football.

I just cant understand any of it!

This from the action group website ; Statement from Shebby Singh full story here http://www.brfcactio...-club-response/

“This is for all fans – I am deeply saddened and shocked by the persecution of former players whose names have been linked as potential managers of this club. It is a culture shock for me as everywhere in the world, former players are lauded for their contributions and achievements. On the choice of a new manager, it is now time for contemplation as due process is carried out”.

but mckinlay rarely contributed and had no achievements(unless venkys really do consider relegation an achievement!!!).

He says a lot of words without actually saying very much, however its clear that he is a bit sulky now his plan to have a young yes man is under attack

This was my thought, too.

"How do we define 'experience' - with experience?"

No Kean, Sherlock.

I honestly have no idea where McKinlay came from. An average forgettable player for a couple of years, yet somehow deemed as a 'past star' in the same vein as Shearer and Sherwood.

How on earth have Venkys and Shebby managed to Kean this up? It should've been one of the easiest appointments ever made. Anyone after Kean would've been celebrated. Yet Venky's have kept us in the dark and the vacuum has been filled by rumour and mistrust.

Shebby's statement tonight just goes to show how little he knows about football. If tomorrow the 95 side put on an exibition at Ewood we would fill the stands and shower those players with adulation. However this situation doesn't call for a former player it calls for a football manager.

There are plenty of managers out there who would love the job but he thinks he is cleverer than the rest of us and wants to appoint the next big thing. Shebby if you are reading this please please pick up the phone to one of the experienced successful men who have applied and give them the job and watch the promotion follow.

Like someone said, Garner is loved by the Rovers faithful but we wouldn't want him as manager.

Should've been the easiest appointments ever made, and could have. Like Shebby I'm amazed at the calibre of people who are up for the job. Unlike Shebby I would have employed one of them at least a week ago.

So what next everybody? Will Shebby continue as he has and is he right to do so?

Do we need a good up-and-coming manager or should he now pass on the job to Shaw who wants to appoint an experienced manager?

How long will people give them to appoint a new man now that they have well and truly screwed up their second candidate? Or should that say Shebby Singh's second candidate?

I still have my reservations about Singh, he has a lot of authority, simply because the Venky clan are so naive to any process in football management. I would prefer an experienced man myself so I would pass the job on to Shaw, not that I think Derek Shaw is Superman though before anybody suggests that he's my hero.
