  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

Poor poor statement from the action group, shocking quote from GM on the matter in the independent. Tim Sherwood is only just behind OGS and Holloway on the vote on this thread, completely wrong and factually incorrect to say fans would not accept him.

The issue is with McKinley!!! And may I suggest you've used Keans calculator in counting your 1500 members who would boycott if McKinley came in.

The action group should not be getting involved in this. You want the club to be run correctly from top to bottom, I'm sure that's what you've all said in the past!! Well all you're doing this morning is making us look more of a joke. Disgraceful stuff.

I couldn't agree more Ricky. The whole club has descended into a complete and utter shambles. Can anyone explain why Shebby is asking 'Vital' to do an interview about the situation regarding the manager? Can anyone explain why Shebby issues statements to the fanbase via the Action Group Website? Does he not realise that these only reach a small fraction of the fanbase? Is there some reason why he can't communicate via the club's own website and the local paper, which with the online edition, is going to reach a wider audience.

For the Action Group to go to the national media and talk about boycotts before we even appoint a manager is just plain stupid. No wonder the media paint the fanbase at Ewood as idiots when we have statements like this issued. Once again this just illustrates the deep divide there is within the fanbase. The club clearly regard the views of the Action Group as being more important than those of any other supporter of the club and the fact that they can't see the damage that is this doing to the club as a whole is just staggering.

I had tried to give the owners a fresh start this season and had hoped they had learned from past mistakes. However, recent events show that nothing has changed and it would appear that getting rid of Kean was the least of our problems.

I thought the statement made by BRAG was actually quite refreshing although it could have come much earlier from the start of this process and perhaps been a little less heated (due to it being the start of the process). Once the group left Shebby to get on with things, you always knew it would end in tears. Pressure should have been put on him from the start to bring the right man in with the remit of uniting the fans.

Regardless of what you think of BRAG, they do a good job trying to get such a classless, clueless, unbelievably naive group of owners to understand the role of the supporters at a football club. It is not their fault that our owners continue to make mistakes which beggar belief leaving them to pick up some very fragile pieces. Without BRAG, the club would be in a much worse position, whatever you think of the group.

I agree, there are a number of people who get on BRFCAG's back at every opportunity but what is the alternative? Let Shebby and his motley crew continue to wreck the club and critise from the sides? It is easy to be a critic but a lot harder to actually do something. You may not like who approach they are taking but I ask you, what are YOU going to do?

Are you happy with BRAG putting out knee jerk reaction statements that make you, me and every other Blackburn Rovers supporter the recipient of much ridicule from the press and other supporters?

I think those critical of BRAG's statement are really failing to consider the complete absurdity of the owners/advisors of this football club. Things are going on behind the scenes that bear absolutely no resemblance to how a football club should be run at all. If you're not in the know, you would quite horrified to find out.

BRAG are in a unique position to try and steer them in the right direction, not regarding a manager but generally. This is not ideal, i'd rather an intelligent person behind the scenes could run the club but somebody of that ilk just doesn't exist! An unusual situation calls for an unusual method of tackling things to make them right again.

BRAG are on the side of the fans, you can be critical of timings etc. but remember their members care more about this club than anybody currently in a position of authority at the club.

SHEBBY! If you're going to go down the inexperienced former player route look no further than the following:

Tugay

Salgado

Nelsen

Friedel

Shearer

Sherwood etc

Now, I'm not saying these are the people I would want in charge but these are REAL legends that may unite the fan base to some extent. NOT Billy McKinlay.

The BRAG statement is very unhelpful. I'm not keen on Sherwood, and less so on McKinley, but a boycott before they're appointed makes Rovers fans look worse than stupid. Very unhappy. And I a can't believe that "thousands' of fans have been contacting BRAG. Sounds like Kean's 500 letters a day.

Spot on! Can you imagine what the Sky muppets will make of this - talk about playing into our critics hands!! Crazy doesnt get close to summing it up

For me the annoying thing is that they are being portrayed as though they represent all supporters - which they clearly don't. There have even been people on this MB who said we should give McKinley a chance - and yet BRAG seem to think they have the right to put out statements representing the whole fan base (thousands of messages - bet they haven't had messages from thousands of individuals !).

They did a sterling job previously - but they are at risk of causing more fractions in an already split fan base.

The only logical assumption (and I know, Venky's and logic don't go together) is that they had one person in mind to replace Kean - Eric Black. Now Black has shown he's not up to task they're scrambling after weeks of half-hearted 'searching' and posturing to try and find somebody to take on the embarrassing role of being the manager of Blackburn Rovers - and make no mistake, at this point it is an embarrassment to be associated with this club, whether it be as a fan, player or other member of staff.

I have no doubts , Black was their target !

All this talk about other managers was a smokescreen ..

Unfortunately Black is not up to the job , but whoever gets the poisoned chalice has some bloody awful players bought by Kean ..

It will , take at least 2 seasons to sort the dross out ...

We get that BRAG are on the side of the fans, but could you tell me what experience, skills and knowledge they possess that would allow them to steer a professional football club in the right direction?

The problem with BRAG has always been the same; whilst they mean well, the people in charge aren't intelligent enough to avoid press manipulation.

They really should keep their mouths shut.

I think its grossly unfair to question peoples intelligence here, how do you know that, indeed, there may be one or two who have a much greater intelligence than both you or I, we dont know!

What should have been pointed out to Singh was the disgraceful treatment of the club by Mckinlay when a player, picking up his wages when he was fit but never played as he said he was injured, that gives a poor message out to both supporters and players alike, and for that reason, he would never be accepted at Ewood, it should also be considered, that despite being at Fulham for a number of years, no clubs have taken a gamble on him, not even lower league clubs. Thats all that needed to be said

Just completely desolate about all this. Can't someone just pick up Holloway from Lytham and tell him he is the Manager.

When he gets to Brockhall no-one is in charge so no-one will challenge this 'decision'.

We are all united on/against McKinlay because it stinks.

The decision has to inject optimism,a bit of charisma and a lot of hope - to resuscitate our wrecked club.

I couldn't tell you but would you rather that everybody just sat back and let the owners do as they please? What are you doing to try and change things for the better?

Football is pretty simple, if fans are happy they go to games and pay their money. If they are not, they wont and the club suffers and does something about it.

The absurdity of the situation is that there are those at the club who seem to believe that the Action Group need to be consulted and their approval gained before a decision can be made. Do this group speak for the fans who actually might want Sherwood as manager or are their views not as important as Shebby's little fanclub? I have no doubt that the Action Group are well intentioned but they have been encouraged to believe that they are main voice of the supporters whereas they merely speak for their own membership which is a fraction of the fanbase. Forget what the media might think but I suspect that there will be many supporters completely disgusted at the threats of a boycott about a manager who has yet to be appointed.

Forget the factions , Blackburn Rovers FC are grave danger of being relegated for the 2nd time in successive seasons .

The last manager signed a lot of awful players , who to be quite honest are not good enough for this level ..

He also signed a player who is totally finished on exorbitant wages ...

The club needs a figurehead who can galvanise the fans and drive the club forward .

Relegation is a real possibility ..

If McKinlay gets the job the possibility ,will become reality I fear ...

Without BRAG here, we would, I feel without question, have seen Billy McKinlay as manager and unveiled tomorrow evening, hopefully now, that will not be the case.

I would still look to an ex player combination with an experienced and respected assistant if we cant get OGS!!

With the calibre of people on our "selection panel" is it really any surprise that we end up in a farcical situation like this?

We probably only have Shaw who has actually been involved in a manager selection process before - and only at a club with far less resources than Rovers.

There's probably a good reason why many of the "exciting" names that applied aren't now in the frame - these idiots wouldn't have a clue how to approach or interview them!

There's a well-known saying - "if you want to be successful, associate with successful people"

There's another one in the making here - "if you want to screw up appointment of your manager, associate with a TV pundit, a shelf salesman, a programme printer and a chicken farmer!"

I agree with most of that. The only thing I would say is this is now a situation of extremes and when that's the case, middle ground opinions tend to go unrecognised for the greater message. Of course, what you're saying, in a better state of affairs makes perfect sense.
