Holloway wanted to spend more this summer and the owner/CEO said no. He wasnt happy about this at all. Couldnt even get them to sign DJ Campbell all summer.

Rovers spend big in the summer in terms of wages and transfer fees. so tha could attract him. Plus maybe he has took Blackpool as far as he can.

I guess the problem Holloway would have is Shebby involvement in transfers. Surely Shebby/Rovers would trust Holloway to sign his own players.

If this is Shaw choic then its a wise choice.

Wasnt Balaji keen on Holloway as manager during the summer and was recommend to him. Think Kamy said this before.

OGS was my favorite(by a mile) but that seems very unlikely now(as does any foreign manager), none of the other candidates really excite me much me, yes McCarthey and Holloway could do an adequate job at this level, but long term(which it seems is what the owners are thinking) i cant see either of those being a good fit, Sherwood is a big gamble, but if it paid off it could be great(ditto for Shearer but a hes a far bigger gamble). I'm warming Slightly towards Roy Keane i think he will have learnt a lot from his spells at Sunderland and Ipswich, he seems a lot more calmer and wiser now than when he 1st got into management.

1) would Blackpool have reached the premier league if it wasnt for Ian Holloway ?

2) would Blackpool have stayed in the Premier league if it wasnt for Ian Holloway?

1. they finished 6th in the league(after spending quite a bit of money) and got promoted via the play-offs(very unconvincingly) so luck played a big part.

2. they didn't stay in the premier league(maybe if he'd been more rational they would have).

McCarthy should be our man. These lazy gits, need a massive kick up Jacksy. The argument of he's no good in top league is foolish. We're not even in the top flight, we need someone to get us there, he can do that. A short term contract with incentives would achieve this. The aim is to get up nothing else at this moment in time, what do people want a young chap who will get us promoted in the next 5 years? I DONT

Also he kept wolves there for what? 2 seasons was it? And probs would have kept them up again if he was kept on last season.

so you dont rate him then?

its a fair qusetion ... is Holloway a good manager ?

there are few managers who would have got that group of players out of the championship , charlie adam apart the rest were very avreage players , after that if it wasnt for Holloways gung ho style perhaps Blackpool would've stayed up some mangers are suited to some divisions , Holloway is a championship manager

i dont think he's the manager for us

Alex Ferguson would have struggled to do much with most of those players in the Premier League. Holloway's relegation with Blackpool should not be a blot on his record.

Then let's fail quickly, like right now, and go after Holloway.

I think there are better managers to be had, but Holloway is far better than Kean (and Black) and I, for one, would be happy to see him at the club. I think odds of promotion would greatly improve.

Do you want Dalglish's phone number?

Of all the names mentioned to date I'd take Holloway. I love the fantasy of Sherwood, Shearer etc. returning to Ewood to lead a free-flowing Rovers side back to the PL. Then we have reality.

Holloway should be capable of dealing with the squad we have, might turn them into a unit. He'd also be a good laugh rather than most of thd bullshitters we listen to week in, week out.

Do I think he will come? He's slightly off beat so may fancy the Ewood mad house. Do I think it's realistic? No. Usual answer why leave a stable position for probably the least stable club in the country?

That's a big problem for Rovers. The likes of OGS, Sherwood would be crackers to risk their rising reputations.

Assuming Alan Nixon has been talking to Paul Agnew(which he has basically), the list he gives in the People is likely to be the infamous shortlist:

Tim Sherwood, Ian Holloway, Mick McCarthy, Keith Hill, Karl Robinson, Alan Shearer.

His view has been that Shebby wants a young manager whilst Derek Shaw wants an experienced manager but no-one wants Shearer. This fits in with what Cryer has been tweeting as well. The top two of Sherwood and Holloway also have the top two obdurant football chairmen in Britain. If the shortlist had been the just last four names we would get someone alot more quickly (quickly by Venky's standards).

All those suggesting Holloway on the basis that he took a poor team into the top flight and had a good start to the season should also on that basis be happy with Coyle as an option. He did the same thing. Also on the same basis they'd be happy with Jewell I assume.

I would be happy with Coyle...i'm not a stupid kid going on about Burnley. He's a good manager. He managed the dingles but so what. It's not like he's from Burnley or has claret and blue blood.

As for Holloway. My heart wants him but my brain is cautious. He did do a good job taking Blackpool up BUT in my opinion after the start they had in the premier league, relegation WAS his doing. Once Blackpool got found out (around November) he ARROGANTLY refused to change his tactics which resulted in them getting battered every week. IF he had put out an Allardyce style team or simply told his team to defend instead of trying to outscore champions league teams they would have stayed up. Put this experience alongside his Leicester travesty AND add to the mix he STILL can't organise a defence with his current side and it doesn't look like a good option.

Holloway didn't get an established PL club relegated like Coyle did, so that's hardly an accurate comparison.

As of last Tuesday, Keith hadn't applied for the job. will find out later if that has changed. doubt it though .
