  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

As of last Tuesday, Keith hadn't applied for the job. will find out later if that has changed. doubt it though .

If he's got any sense, he'll realise that he hasn't got (or shouldn't have) a chance of getting the job.

Agree on Coyle from a couple of posts up.

Personally i cant stand Holloway, hes just a bit of a weirdo clown(insert brfc circus joke here) and a total chancer of a manager, but i think its just another lazy wind up article from nixon anyway(he so unprofessional, even by tabloid standards).

I am with you there Hardly , doubt Holloway would do anything elsewhere , is record before Blackpool wasn't good ..Last chance saloon for both him and Blackpool when he arrived . But fair play to him ,he has done well for them ...

Will have the same defensive frailities if he comes ...

Personally I would steer well clear ..

I'm warming Slightly towards Roy Keane i think he will have learnt a lot from his spells at Sunderland and Ipswich, he seems a lot more calmer and wiser now than when he 1st got into management..

In agreement with you again .Rovers need a Souness like character .

Keane , volatile arrogant would put the fear of god into some players who have been on a jolly ..

Assuming Alan Nixon has been talking to Paul Agnew(which he has basically), the list he gives in the People is likely to be the infamous shortlist:

Tim Sherwood, Ian Holloway, Mick McCarthy, Keith Hill, Karl Robinson, Alan Shearer.

His view has been that Shebby wants a young manager whilst Derek Shaw wants an experienced manager but no-one wants Shearer. This fits in with what Cryer has been tweeting as well. The top two of Sherwood and Holloway also have the top two obdurant football chairmen in Britain. If the shortlist had been the just last four names we would get someone alot more quickly (quickly by Venky's standards).

I would forget Sherwood now. If he wanted the job he would have left Spurs by now. He has used us to strenght his position at Spurs. Leave him there. Didnt want him in the first place.

Holloway would be a good choice just like McCarthy would be aswell. Both have experience of getting teams promote and thats what we need. I imagine of Shaw's choices. Shebby needs to listen to Shaw on this. If we cant get both then move for Karl Robinson.

But I dont think we need a foriegn manager in at rovers because they take too long to understand the league. We need a manager that understand the league.

Cant believe people would say no to Holloway. Crazy. people want a experience manager and Holloway fits that.

Me too. I like him but it is hilarious how some of those championing him are the same ones slating McCarthy for being a short-term appointment because he'll get us relegated...erm ok.

If we don't appoint next week I'm going to put £20 on Hughes to Rovers and Redknapp to QPR before they lose their next game.

I would love to see a list of all the names you have suggested it will be Chaddy it changes daily!

yeah it does when you get info of the type of manager we are after.

when Kean was gone, I was shocked that he had resigned as manager. couldnt believe he did that.

I didnt have a favourite when he gone. probably still dont.

I have managers I like to have a manager but dont have a favourite.

But know I dont want a manager like Trappatoni or Schuster tbh.

On paper I can see the logic in anyone suggesting Keane. However you only have to watch his mannerisms and attitude when he's a TV pundit to realise he's a stubborn loner who wants to do things his way and people to see only his point of view. He has no charisma and no charm. Fear will only get you so far.

A foreign manager is probably the only option working for Venkys, they want far too much input in things they have little understanding of, if we apppoint an English/British manager, things would have to change dramatically!!

hopefully Shebby will take a step back if we want a manager like Holloway or McCarthy.

Shebby can still have an input but he got to have a good working relationship with the next manager.

Yep. It worked for a brief time at Sunderland, though he was backed in the transfer market pretty heftily during that time anyway, but eventually the players got tired of his bullshit and it was endgame. At Ipswich it happened even faster, only he had zilch success there. His transfer business at Ipswich was also absolutely appalling. He set the club back massively during his spell as manager.

Plus I can see him co-existing with Shebby Singh for oh, I don't know, a week? It would be a total disaster. Bringing in an authoritarian manager is fine, but we need one with a track record of success and ideally somebody whose emotional stability has progressed beyond that of an ill-tempered child.

Chaddy, what's Uncle Claudio up to these days - you haven't mentioned him for a while ?

Now resigned to thinking we will all be sat here same time next week pulling our hair out, following defeat at Derby, still debating who, what, where, when etc.

Rome burns whilst Nero fiddles.

Season ticket deadline 19 October and being pushed by club - a joke. Good managerial appointment needed followed by some big reductions eg £259 to £199. Not holding my breath.

Holloway has had ONE very fortunate season, where Blackpool sneaked up via the lottery of the play-offs, in what has been a very poor managerial career.

Nah. He did very well to get that team up and came very close to keeping them there against all the odds. In most seasons they would have stayed up with that points total too.

Complete and utter nonsense. Do some homework before posting such crap.

Holloway took Blackpool from Relegation favourite in the Championship to Playoff winners in his first season as manager there. cant think of too managers who has done this.

he has done brilliant at Blackpool on a tight budget there. even in the championship.

Sorry Batman he's been utterly amazing as below reflects..........YEAH RIGHT!!

Bristol Rovers - nothing of note other than a flirt with the playoffs

QPR - releageted them to league 1. Promoted them back to the championship at the 2nd attempt

Plymouth - Dumped them for Leicester

Leicester - Relegated them to League 1

Blackpool - Promoted to Premierleague via playoffs. Relegated from Premierleague

2 promotions

3 relegations

1 sh*tting on Plymouth

He's not all that, like Mccarthy. He's had more poor seasons than good seasons. Avoid in my opinon and that's all this place is a vehicle for opions so stick your crap comments where the sun don't shine

I get the feeling certain posters wouldn't be happy whichever manager we finally decide on.

Whoever get's picked from that shortlist (if it's accurate) I'll be right behind. I obviously would prefer Holloway or McCarthy but I think the other three could do a job in getting the team promoted.

If Kean can get this team to the top of the league I have confidence that a half decent manager could at least get us into the playoffs.

Don't think it is an easy decision - not many decent managers around plus the reputation of our owners won't be helping.

Roy Keane did the same with Sunderland, he's a kean manager.

What the heck, I put S.H.I.T.E and its changed it to kean lol nice work mods
