  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

Season ticket deadline 19 October and being pushed by club - a joke. Good managerial appointment needed followed by some big reductions eg £259 to £199. Not holding my breath.

Maybe it's easy for me to say this given I'm unable to attend matches anymore, but I really think any season ticket price reduction would have to be considered very carefully.

If we're still down here when the parachute payments dry up, season tickets will be a massive source of income for us, and given a lot of people will only come back either when the current clowns in charge are removed or we get promoted (regardless of cheaper tickets), it could hit us hard.

McCarthy is safest choice IMO. Struggling to understand a couple of posts mentioning Coyle. I'm sure he had a similar and possibly worse record with Bolton than our own Scottish pretender had with us. My Bolton mates don't rate him at all.

Don't think it is an easy decision - not many decent managers around plus the reputation of our owners won't be helping.

It is a hard decision. Every possible candidate has plus point and minus points. I'm glad I'm not doing the selection and I am very apprehensive given the lack of credentials of those making the decision. Very much a case of the blind leading the blind.

Yes, but, isn't it better to have them people in the ground than not?

Little extra income, extra income from food and drinks and bigger crowds, it's a no brainer.

Sorry Batman he's been utterly amazing as below reflects..........YEAH RIGHT!!

Bristol Rovers - nothing of note other than a flirt with the playoffs

QPR - releageted them to league 1. Promoted them back to the championship at the 2nd attempt

Plymouth - Dumped them for Leicester

Leicester - Relegated them to League 1

Blackpool - Promoted to Premierleague via playoffs. Relegated from Premierleague

2 promotions

3 relegations

1 sh*tting on Plymouth

He's not all that, like Mccarthy. He's had more poor seasons than good seasons. Avoid in my opinon and that's all this place is a vehicle for opions so stick your crap comments where the sun don't shine

You consider Holloways time at Plymouth a failure? I thought he did pretty well there all things considered IE finances, location etc etc.

Out of the names mentioned though IE the English it's Hilly all the way for me.

I'm just not sure how many more people it will attract.

I grew up in Blackburn so know its not exactly the richest place in the country, but we already have some of the cheapest season tickets out of all 92 league clubs.

I don't think that many of the stay aways will necessarily come if we drop prices, I think there's other factors like being disillusioned with the state of the club, plus losing a chunk of every two Saturdays plus the odd weekday. A price drop won't solve that and I think it will decrease matchday revenues.

He did a good job with Bristol Rovers, a decent job at QPR, was a great success with Plymouth, had an awful time at Leicester and has been a resounding success with Blackpool. Last season he got Blackpool to the playoff final on a shoestring budget, playing the best football in the division. This season, they continue to be a force.

Your initial comment was that of an absolute ignoramus who views life in very black and white terms.

Doesn't Holloway have some sort of % on player sales, sure that came out around the time Adams was due to move pre season.

Out of the British contingent, Coyle would be a decent shout, his relegation IMO was heavily influenced by long term injuries to key players, IRC, 6-7 players out from Christmas some longer, like Holden.

The point I am trying to make is that £259 is price for a 23 match season.

5 home games gone already so surely that has to be reflected in a reduced price for remaining of season ?

You obviously have the brain capacity of a fly taking into account your inability to string together any kind of coherent argument to back up your original statement.

If you cannot read then why should I waste more of my time on such an aroggant and abhorrent troll like you? Have a nice day.

Me too. I like him but it is hilarious how some of those championing him are the same ones slating McCarthy for being a short-term appointment because he'll get us relegated...erm ok.

If we don't appoint next week I'm going to put £20 on Hughes to Rovers and Redknapp to QPR before they lose their next game.

There is a big difference. Holloway plays fun and

Attractive football and is popular among the blackpoo fans. Wolves played crap football and the fans arranged protests against him. Sounds like a certain manager we just got rid of?

Would hate it if we got mcCarthy, seriously hate it. But he would have my support

Why read and post on here then?

I wondered how long it would take for that hackneyed cliche to come out.

I was meerly stating that the place has a good fair share of posters who's first thought is to shout down posts and fire insults.

I think Holloway's career shows he is not the messiah, that's all. Does that require my intellect compared to that of a fly just because a keyboard warrior has a different opinion?

Posted this before but perhaps more relevant now, a friend of mind is a big Blackpool fan and he suspects that Holloway does have a release clause in his contract that is not too onerous if approaching club is outside PL. Guess we might be about to find out if correct.

Wow!!!

Now wasn't him pulling up his record at previous clubs backing up his original statement? He has put a reasonable argument across and just because you don't like it you figure you will act like an arrogant prat. Fair enough, what ever gets you through the day. Just know its making you look very stupid (despite the fact you feel good at using 'big words').

Nothing more than a brief flirt with the play offs. Haha!

Do you realise how daft that statement is? They were relegation contenders when he took over. He then almost made the play offs the year after.

Relegated QPR? He was only with them half a season then got them back up.

At Plymouth his win percentage was higher than it currently is at Blackpool.

At Blackpool on a very tight budget he guided them to the premier league at the FIRST ATTEMPT. They had a good season in the PL with a poor squad. Then almost got up again despite having his squad torn apart with his best players being sold.

Would Blackpool have stayed in the PL with a different manager? The question should be, would Ian Holloway have stayed in the PL with a different club.

Leicester was his only failure and even Brian Clough screwed up.

So now tell me he's "not all that".

Blimey, some people on here want Jesus Christ with God himself as his experienced number 2.

A "reasonable argument?" Please quote the part where he put together this argument?

I find it amazing that people would be unhappy with Holloway. He achieved a minor miracle at Blackpool getting them promoted and nearly achieved the equivalent of the second coming of Jesus Christ when narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

I get the feeling that no matter who the club appoint, there will still be some factions against it, my only hope is that they don't turn on the new guy, whoever it is and give him their support and unity for the greater interest of the club.

My own preferences are McCarthy, OGS and Holloway. Coyle would also probably do a decent job this season. Everyone else would not be as fitting for the role, in my opinion, yet I will still back them all the way (bar Eric Black which would be suicidal if he was to be promoted).

Didn't mean to offend but you can't judge an entire forum based on the odd one or two members, just put the guy on ignore if he's bothering you.
