I think its obvious then if we are going to approach Holloway that only crap managers applied for the Rovers job, what happened to the candidates approaching us for the job?

Obviously no serious candidates wanted to approach.

Maybe they expected to be able to get Sherwood, but hes turned them down or its going to cost them more than they expected to get him. If its going to cost that much perhaps they think if they are going to have to pay good money they then might as well try and get Holloway who they could view as the better option.

Maybe they think Holloway is better than any of the candidates.

Who knows, its just impossible to guess.

LT Holloway article:

It's really simple Singh, Shaw & Agnew, if you want him, just go and feckin get him !

IMO, getting Holloway out of Blackpool will be nowhere near as expensive as some folk fear. I think its a case of having the b @ a l l s to square up to Oyston and force his hand on something where his grip is probably not as tight as he would like it to be. Whether Singh, Shaw & Agnew are up to that is another matter

Guess we will see just how much Venky's want Holloway. My fear is Singh screwing it up, seems as though everybody else involved would love to have him at Ewood, but he's after his puppet.

Hopefully Singh has pulled his finger out of his backside today. No manager in by Derby arouses a lot of suspicion.

Yeah obviously.

I'm drawn to this thread by it's siren call and then when I've read the drivel on it I realise that 5 minutes of my life have been dashed on the coral.

OK - a question.

There used to be a gentleman's agreement between PL chairmen that clubs wouldn't approach other club's managers during the season. So, did this agreement cover all the leagues ..... and is it still in existence?

I agree, Sherwood signed a long term deal recently on good money and therefore Levy can ask for a hefty compensation bill. Holloway and most of the Blackpool team are on (comparatively for football) low wage short term deals. How can he refuse permission if a good compensatory offer is made? There is probably a release clause in the contract somewhere too, so if they make an offer we could talk to him alot more easily than Sherwood and Levy.

Cant see why Holloway would leave Blackpool especially not while the Illuminations are on.

Good point well made. I've just checked - they finish on 4th November. That must be the delay. No way in the world is Holloway going to turn his back on that visual spectacular.

I can't see Holloway coming, so it's just a time wasting exercise. He already has a team that will be contenders for promotion and are playing his style of football. Going to a team that isn't flexible enough to play the way he would want to and has all the internal strife going on in the background surely can't be an attractive proposition?

If it's true Bolton and Burnley are in talks with Mick McCarthy then it is possible we could have been first to get into the new manager race and the last to finish.

In my opinion Black will have two more games in charge before we get a new manager or Black actually gets the job.

Then Shebby will pass gas and people will sing how nice it smells.

I think that the Holloway info is another smokescreen to try and draw out time until Saturday, where a positive result may well see our resident bullshitter Shebby Singh announce that Eric Black is the man for the job.

It's embarrassing that both Bolton & Burnley are well on with their replacement whilst it took us well over a week to draw up a short list. God help us, when we have buffoons making decisions and gullible supporters swallowing the spin.

Unless the press reports about interest in Holloway are a ploy by Rovers to ascertain whether he is interested in the role then we really are being painfully slow about matters. How can we still be dithering about whether to even make an approach to someone after 16 days? If we're interested, make the approach. What's the worst that can happen?

We're acting like a terrified schoolboy who daren't ask a girl out for fear of rejection at the moment.

In any event, apart from what Alan Nixon says all the other indications are that he wouldn't be interested

anyway so we might have to start again from scratch.

Get on with it Rovers!

This is from the BBC Sportsday live:

Ian Holloway emerges as a leading candidate to replace Steve Kean as manager of Blackburn Rovers, reports BBC Sport's Ben Smith.

The Blackpool manager is understood to be on the Ewood Park club's shortlist alongside Tottenham director Tim Sherwood and former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With Tottenham resistant to negotiating Sherwood's departure, Blackburn are weighing up an approach for Holloway.
