Hendry was on Talksport, saying he wasn't interested in the job, but the club need look no further than Eric Black since he ticked all the boxes. Guess Hendry now has his tongue firmly up Black's hole, a blind man could see that after the last three games Black is never the man to inspire the players, his tactics have been dire and ineffective, the performances have been insipid and he is not the one to rally the fans.

New Manager = Back on the dole queue.

Agree.

Can anyone say that Hendry has proved of any value to our performances or results or individual player development ?

IMO, he hasn't and he should be out on his ass.

Sherwood has alyways been the clubs preferred choice , SS comments only endorse that , and if Sherwood came i wold be happy about it , i think there are better options than him , but there are also a lot worse , my concern is if Sherwood can't or wont come , its who is next on the list

The other concern is that we spend weeks chasing him - only for him not to come and we end up back to square one - or worse lose other potential candidates.

Best thing Shebby can do tonight - confirm they have a short list - confirm the number on the list - then shut his mouth.

Ideally I'd like him not to show up.

until we started losing games Kamy. Sentimental stuff has to be put to one side, if they're not up to the job the dream will soon turn into a nightmare. Just pick the best man for the job irrespective of anything else.

Who is the best man irrespective of anything else in your opinion?? Who do you want??

on another note, its insane that shebby and the owners didnt have a shortlist ready. They knew kean was dangling in a thin thread.

Surely they did, hence why all the talk about Sherwood? Think the list of applicants has taken them by suprise, considering all the negative press we have had over the past 18 mths.

My firm personal favourite is still Solskjaer (no Rovers connection but very likeable and a big name), but I think I'd prefer a sentimental name Shearer/Sherwood/Tugay to a pragmatic appointment of Hill/Robinson/Freedman for the reasons mentioned above.

Agreed - pretty much every manager out there named so far is a risk.... some below as examples

Shearer - 1 managerial job - went down, but most would argue they were already relegated when he joined.

Sherwood - No managerial experience, why the big hard on for him?? Highly rated (so was Ince, Coyle etc)

Holloway - Doing well at Blackpool but had several relegations & troubles in the past

Schuster - Take out his BIG club records, and his win % isnt that great

Solksjaer - won the reserve league (woopee - didnt we last year?) & the Norweigan (sp) league by spending far more than any club.

Curbishley - been out of work for 4 years

McCarthy/ McLeish - both good & bad spots on their CV's.

Robinson, Freedman, Dickov, Hill etc - very little experience, yet to win anything.

Id rather take the Shearer risk (with staff around him - ideally inc Tugay), than a Freedman/ Robinson type one.

Most would be wrong.

Shearer got a measly five points from eight games whilst in charge.

Even one more point would have kept them up, and any vaguely experienced manager would likely have got that extra point.

Alan Shearer relegated Newcastle.

Am I right in thinking the Rao brothers are coming over today with their list of people to meet Singh to thrash the list out?

God help us, they couldn't pick there own noses....

Would love Hendry to be sacked. Great player for us, horrible man.

Here here!

Caught-up with the BRFC & Twitter overrnight goings-on.

Just what a feckin mess.

Seemingly, we have a caretaker about to walk because he learnt he would not get the job (probably from Glen's posting on BRFCS yesterday following his group's meeting with Singh - words to the affect 'no one on the existing payroll will get the job').

We also learn from the Daily Telegraph that managers with the pedigree of Dickov and Flitcroft are under serious consideration.

Today, 13 days after Kean's departure, the club's senior management, none of whom, IMO, have covered themselves in glory or are fit for purpose, will attempt to draw-up a shortlist.

I honestly now believe that the only way forward for the club is for new owners who will quickly sweep away, IMO, all the clowns now involved with our club - management and supporters' "representatives" alike.

I don't think things could be much worse and I really, really fear for the club's future over the next 2 years.

Excellent post!

Personally I don't trust any of them including Singh to make the right decision. His behaviour from day 1 has been erratic to put it kindly.

My big worry is we're going to have to gamble - like Hughes and Ince were - and most of the names mentioned are gambled. Only I'm not sure the odds are in our favour this time due to the cluelessness of the ones making the decisions.

If Williams can get 1 wrong (Ince) and he knew his football, then what odds on Venkeys getting it right.

Personally I like the sound of Robinson as he knows the club, has done fairly well at MK Dons and I've heard a couple of in depth interviews from him and liked what I heard.

Genuinely have no idea who we'll end up with though. Only consolation is even the jokers in charge can't appoint a worse manager than Kean.

So it had nothing to do with the 30 games that proceeded Shearer's games in charge then...?
