He's not good enough and in any case he would be mad to come.

Remember where Blackpool where when Holloway took over?

You couldn't be more wrong on the first point (in my humble obviously), couldn't agree more on the second.

Holloway would never work under instructions from Singh or the Rao's, even if he agrees to talk to them he'll fail to agree on the terms. Holloway will be a yes man to no-one. If he somehow does agree terms I reckon he'll have full control of footballing matters which means no interference the usual idiots which can only be a good thing.

Rijkaard is just crazy talk, ranks up there with Ronaldinho for audacity if they are seriously considering moving for him. Like a lot of others we've been linked to I can't see it being true anyway.

The trouble is Ollie is mad.

Exactly. Fight fire with fire. It might just work.

As for this Rijkard stuff. I'll believe it when I see it, until then it's crazy talk and I don't see how anyone can look at it otherwise. It would be an appointment up there with the Dalglish "I didn't see that coming" catagory.

You've got to love things on here, Schuster Ex Real MAdrid gets mentioned and people start creaming themselves. Mention an ex Barcalona manager would be interested and everyone says you're kidding, cannot be true.

A well it's always good to start the day with a laugh.

In all fairness I didn't "cream" myself when Schuster was mentioned either. However that goes in the same catagory as Rijkard, i.e. I'll believe it when I see it.

Real Madrid though, they're no Barcelona are they ? Maybe that explains it.

Rijkard has had three club jobs, and was sacked from two of them.

The one he did well in was the one where he had Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi, Guily, Puyol, and Eto'o in the team.

Hhhhmmmmmm...

Replace those players with Murphy, Morton, CKR, Dunn, Rochina, Dann and Rhodes and you can see why we're keen.

Trouble is it's 3 v 1, that's never fair!

Rijkaard is very unhappy in Saudi as are a lot of europeans given the masssive differences. I have colleagues out there and most of all they miss their families as the women are treated like prisoners. Everyone goes for one reason and one reason alone, they pay silly money and even ressies staff get offers of over 100K a year, make first team level and you can add another zero, it's maddness.

Rijkarrds been touted around all year ever since they failed to make the world cup as most out there now consider his $16M contract a waste of money. SO here we have a job available in europe with the previous incumbent being on a contract worth £15M, Mmmm I wonder if he'd be interested?

It even represents a pay-rise. They've always wanted a name, they've always wanted barcalona esq football, it's not as far faetched as some would think.

Fair enough Maj, a good argument there. Stranger things have happened I suppose. Normally at Rovers since Venky's came in. Add the fact that it's nigh on impossible to be sacked at BRFC regardless of results and I suppose it could look even more attractive to Big Frank.

They just need to get on with it now - one way or another.

Why are we continuously linked with Sherwood?

Given that he has no managerial experience to date, what makes us think he has what it takes to become a good manager? (open question)

Keep reading in reports he is “highly rated”, by whom?

Beware of Tottenham and hype.

Could Hollowhead's (as Leicester fans used to call him) relationship with Oyston be as bad as what he will encounter working with the organisational vacuum known as Venky's?

He's not good enough and in any case he would be mad to come.

Why do you think this Bryan? Usually have you down as a good judge, but that's a little harsh on Ollie given his job at Blackpool.

So that's three out of four jobs he's failed in? Funnily enough, the two seasons he did well with Barca was when Madrid were in managerial turmoil. The moment they got a decent manager (Capello) in, Rijkaard won naff all and he was off.

Can one person suggest any decent reasons why we should touch him with a bargepole?

Put it down to me being on my first day back at work

I think he's too gung ho, we need someone who can make us solid again. His reputation was built at Blackpool and to a lesser extent Plymouth, but I don't think he can cut it at the top level. At Leicester he was an absolute disaster. If he gets Blackpool up and keeps them up then I will most certainly have a re-think. But I do think he has a bit of a cult following around him that perhaps does blind people to his failings.

By his agent, by his mates in the press and his mum most likely.

I still can't get my head round the 'we're looking for the next AVB' comment and yet AVB would happily see him leave according to himself.

If he comes he'll have my support but it doesn't smell right at all.

Never said we should but he'd be interested if we approached him.

Don't forget he'd be a bigger draw than Akon at parties!

Wonder if Shebby, Shaw & Agnew read this thread ?

Everyone has an opinion where football is concerned and opinions are pretty diverse as evidenced by this thread.

If they do read this thread, it might be of little surprise that they seem to be struggling to make their minds up !

From today LT

'Meanwhile, Rovers are yet to make their move in the search for Steve Kean’s successor, with a number of options still open to them.

Former skipper Tim Sherwood is understood to remain global advisor Shebby Singh’s favoured choice but it remains highly unlikely that Spurs will make that possible.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway and Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are also understood to be on Rovers’ shortlist, with Barnsley manager Keith Hill and MK Dons boss Karl Robinson also under consideration.

Solskjaer yesterday told a Norwegian newspaper he would definitely see out the season with Molde, although their campaign ends next month.

“There will always be speculation when someone in England needs a new manager,” he said.

“There are surely 20 names who have been linked with Bolton now and it's natural that mine is among them. But it's not for me.

“Blackburn, Bolton, rumours crop up all the time. But I’m not that bothered about them.

“I'm absolutely certain I will see out the season here (with Molde), I can promise that.”

Certainly hope not.

Shebby and Shaw need to make decisions without Fans being involve.

Im with the posters who question Sherwood too – there is nothing to suggest he is the next big thing, he has zero managerial experience, and to be honest he hasn’t really shown any ambition to manage a team.

To say he has ‘massive potential’ with no proof is questionable…but this is Spurs, and Levy does like to screw clubs for big compo.

As for Holloway – he would be my choice… yes he has had failures in the past and yes he failed to keep Blackpool up, HOWEVER he got them up for the 1st time in a long time, he also very nearly stayed up, despite having by far the smallest ever premier league budget & wage structure to work with. The thing about Holloway is he seems to get the best out of his players (abit like Hughes did on a budget) – now if we can get a manager to get the best out of the likes of Hanley, Henley, Rochina, Rhodes, Formica etc then we won’t be too far off come May. I think he’s worth a shot – yes he didn’t do great before, but according to reports he spent his time out of the game wisely, studying different styles and techniques. I also love abit of passion on the side-lines – something to get the crowd & players going, something which we lacked under Ince & Kean.

It is now 18 days since Kean left and they have yet to make a move !!!

The mind just feckin boggles.

Abandon all hope where Rovers are concerned.
