Those were Shebby's words after Kean left and we had 3 games that week. I just hope we don't hear the same on Friday if new manager hasn't been appointed.

Fair play Kamy. I do worry about Shebby. It really isn't rocket science this is it?

If Sherwood isn't dancing then we should move on. Why appoint a man who isn't enthusiastic about the job? It's not as if he's Capello with a distinguished track record, we're talking about a coach at Spurs for crying out loud. It's hardly going to rock the footballing world.

It really does sound like amateur night to be pursuing Sherwood at this late stage still, when he doesn't seem to want the job. I don't trust Singh's judgement, and in fact I don't trust Singh and his soppy keaning tracksuit.

We need the best available man for the job who will give us the best chance of going back up, not some ridiculous PR sop to the fans. What a mess.

I still don’t understand how (or why) a novice is seemingly our top target - I thought a logical appointment would be a manager who could stabilise the club and hit the ground running?

Of course, Sherwood could be a success and I would back him, but the risk factor is massive – he has not even been a first team coach or assistant manager previously.

I would NOT have trusted these idiots to pull the trigger. They had plenty of chances and didn't act.

IMO Kean would still be here if he didn't resign and this thread wouldn't even exist.

I get the feeling they where stringing him along until they got a new manager in place.

Can you imagine what the situation would have been like if he was still manager now. with the results we have had since ?

Only just caught up with this thread and I interpreted your original post in exactly the same way as RB. I had planned to comment till I read the subsequent posts

I can NOW see what the possible objections of others who had already bought a S/T might be; But at the time I wrote my first post the cost of a season ticket (no matter what it was) was simply not a consideration for me as I had absolutely no intention of purchasing one at any price (high or low). Therefore of NO interest at all. End of story!

Edit: Having read a few more posts on this subject it would appear that there are some people who having exercised their choice to buy early and get a discount, and who later find out that the club makes a further offer to try and increase the takeup of S/Ts are starting to think and act like they have somehow been cheated. Well not by me the haven't and I am getting rather tired of having to explain my actions to these "dog in the manger" types ESPECIALLY AS THEY ARE GETTING OVERWROUGHT ABOUT SOMETHING THAT I NEVER EVEN CONSIDERED DOING IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!

Perhaps I should have bolded my last line. Or written it in caplocks. Then perhaps you would have no reason to have a go at me for merely posting information here to stop the hysterics and unrelenting condemnation from spreading throughout the messageboard. Nonetheless I will copy that last line here for you: THAT IS IF YOU BELIEVE ALAN NIXON OR THE DAILY MAIL. In other words, you can choose not to believe them if you think they are full of keans and kean.

The googly eyes was for Nixon, not you. Chill cocker.

Ill choose not to believe them though.

I have no problems with them taking their time, but 3 weeks should be enough to recruit a decent manager.

Shebby is now under pressure, he has to deliver a manager that can take the club forward. He is already on the record confirming some “big” names have applied, if he now delivers a manager which underwhelms the majority of fans then he will rightly be challenged, the longer the process takes the greater the pressure to get it right. There can be no excuses this time.

Kamy ... any truth to rumours rijkaard being approached ...u heard anything ?

The problem is Kamy, that Shebby is hardly trying to get the Sherwood deal done. From informed people, their guess is that Shebby knows Sherwood isn't going to come and is just trying to buy time for Black or another puppet coming in, allowing Shebby to have huge authority over the next manager.

What is your opinion on that?

Shebby is a cock, I can't elaborate more than what I have previously said. He will be in the dugout at Derby come Saturday. Absolute joke

The whole lot of them couldn't make a sensible decision to save their life.

seems to be alot of rumours that Rijkaard is interest in the rovers job.

hmm lets see if kamy heard anything down the grapevine .....always wanted someone like him to be manager ... have confidence he will change the culture of our play and we having a young squad is very receptive to system changes

Bullseye.

I so hope you are wrong but something about this whole new episode isn't right.

Sounds oddly too plausible. Shebby seems pretty power hungry and fairly clueless from what I've heard.

Annoying thing is seems like decent managers are/were interested and there was a great window of time to do it in (international break). The fact we're still dithering makes me fear we're still just as incompetent and we'l end up like a nightmare scenario as quoted above.

No there aren't 'lots of rumours'. Philipl, miqaayil and yourself (chaddy) mentioned it. From what I can see that's the latter two, latching onto philipl (who doesn't exactly have a gleaming 'rumour record'. Still waiting for Xabi Alonso to turn up ;)

It's also oddly plausible that Nixon may be right: We're trying for Sherwood and if we don't get him by the Derby game, we go for Holloway at a slightly smaller cost.

At least one Rovers' player will be hoping Freedman doesn't get the job ! Goodwillie on way back and reportedly 'couldn't settle' but, seemingly, Palace not impressed.

Is the squad the new manager will inherit not the worst one we have had for over 20 years ?

Posted

Maybe Goodie had a decent relationship with Black and feels he may have a chance of breaking into the team with our lack of options up front.

Posted

I still believe Goodwillie could do a decent job in this division. Don't think he'll make it in the Prem unless he improves dramatically. Hmm, he is due a scandal though.

Wow - page 64.

I remember laughing when I saw some bloke suggesting that this thread would probably go to page 62 before a manager was appointed....

Christ! How wrong was I
