  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

But he will bring in is own back room staff to help and harry may only be a phone call away for advice.

Why would you want to though? Why not just bring in someone that you pretty much know can do a job? There's that many variables to a managerial success, why add a ton more on top of it to complicate things further?

I hope I'm wrong and Sherwood turns out to be another Hughes but if I'm not we're stuck with the wrong man for a long time. My worry is that if after two years we aren't promoted, they take off and we're saddled with a lot of debt and no one can afford to buy us.

Exactly !

Some incredibly churlish remarks on here about Sherwood already and he hasn't even been appointed yet.

I freely admit he wouldnt be my number one choice but if appointed Ill be 100% behind him.

I hope everyone else would be of the same mind and that the bad feeling that has enveloped the club since Kean was appointed might disappear.

The bad feeling will only disappear if he starts getting results.

i think this team will struggle to get an automatic promotion regardless of who the new manager is(play-offs are prob are best chance), yes we have a few exceptional young attacking players but but the rest of the team just range from poor-average.

Start what?(actually please don't bother answering that), yawn!!!!!!.

bedtime for me.

Ehh?? You called him out for using the word 'pleb' with a patronising 'ah bless' and then accuse HIM of 'starting it'? Yes, it IS your bedtime, you petulant six-year old.

On topic: Sherwood in is my 3rd choice, so would be happy enough. (1st and 2nd were Ollie and OGS respectively).

Tim Sherwood wants Rovers talks

Off topic but re: that bit in the article about Goodwillie can't be right can it?

Surely if Palace send him back that makes any loan agreement null and void.

How could we be in a position whereby we have to pay the useless twonk AND still be unable to play him until January?

Guardiola, Rijkard, Schuster will want too much money to spend. Holloway a bit of a blowhard. We need young manager, smart, who will get squad fit and do it on a relatively limited budget. So OGS, Freedman, Sherwood in that order. Dougie to Bolton says Oddschecker. Odds on Sherwood for us shortening again. OGS stink in with chance.

Shebby is fixated by Sherwood. I don't think Sherwood will join us. If we can move on from that then we could still get someone in before Saturday. Other managers have deffo been talked to.

But my worry is that come Friday, it will be got to focus on 3 important games and so as not to distract players managed decision wil be delayed.

If we don't appoint this week then you've got to start to worry, but hopefully it gets sorted this week.

Can you give us any kind of clue as to why on earth he would be, does he like fancy him or summat.

*.....shudder....*

seriously, Shebby is probably fixated on getting the bulk of the fans back on side and the gate up - and maybe sees the "ex-player legend" candidate as being the best way to do that quickly. At the expense of a more experienced (read : 'experienced') but less sentimental candidate.

I'd prefer an experienced old hand at this stage. We have to stop the rot and the slide down the table. McCarthy or Holloway for me.

yea nixon is pathetic!, but i feel he must have genuinely heard something this time for him to change his view.

Read the last paragraph (more than one today ABBEY) and you'll see he has covered his backside on the Holloway thing.

Nixon writes tittle tattle designed to sell newspapers. He's not alone in that.

This morning's LT reports that Rovers plan to talk to ALL managers on their shortlist. Discussions with some managers have already taken place, others will take place soon. Rovers expected to formally ask permission to talk to Sherwood very soon. LT reports that Black still remains in the running and new manager unlikely to be in place before Derby game.

So Sherwood wants to talk eh? Even if there is a shred of truth in this story and Sherwood does want to come it will take some time to draw up and agree contracts for Sherwood and presumably his own team so I can't see us having a manager in place for Saturday. It seems to me that Nixon is a chancer and his stories change on a daily basis as I believe he has lost his contacts at Ewood. I just hope he salary isn't incentivised based on the accuracy of his stories.

Does he even have a back room staff in mind? It'll take another 3 weeks to draw up a shortlist to identify them. If we're lucky we might have a fully functioning management team by Christmas!

I liked Sherwood as a player and he seems to be a decent sort of bloke with a growing reputation in the game. But for me this just demonstrates that Venky's haven't learnt a bloody thing since day one. They risked the future of the club by sacking Allardyce and now he we are again taking unecessary risks and gambling with our future once more. Sherwood might well go on to become a top drawer manager. Who knows? But at this point in time we should be playing it safe. Appointing a manager who knows how to get out of this division and who has demonstrated the ability to work at the next level too.

Sherwood could be a good manager as you say but no managerial experience is obviously a worry - we've been here before....if it is him, or any manager, we need hopefully a strong back room team.

The longer it takes the stronger the team will need to be, as we will be holding the rest of the league up

Some of you lot need a bit of perspective, we've just got rid of the worse manager in the clubs history and you're now complaining about who will replace him!!

Lets all agree, as long as its not Singh or the Indian chap anyone's better than that ****

Good call.

Well take Arry and background staff to Ewood then!!!

(How many Sherwood comments are we going to have over the next week saying the same thing-this is getting pretty monotonous to say the least)

Has the LT (Andy) given any indication who is on the short list and how big it is/who has already been talked to? etc...

Lets refresh, when we had Kean, the majority said they would take anyone as long as we got our club back, I think, in my opinion thats the important thing, fresh ideas and our club back, a younger manager with links to Rovers plus working with a well organised club for the past few years would help massively, Sherwood would be a reasonable shout but whoever takes over, there can be no gaurantees!!

I agree. For the last two years i'd have taken just about anyone over that tosser thats inhabited our dugout! The life has been sucked out of our club. If i can make my way into Ewood Park or any away ground with a feeling of excitement again then i'l gladly accept Sherwood. I would prefer OGS but given Venkys track record, Sherwood will be greeted with open arms. Whether it is a correct decision with regard to the most important aspect (results) I dont know, infact, does anyone know?

Maybe I'm being a little heart over head here but I'm starting to get a little buzz of excitement that I haven't had about Rovers for almost 2years. I just hope this doesn't drag on.

It's a risk yes, but seeing as I have no influence whatsoever over this decision, I will take Sherwood in a heartbeat.
