  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

My train of thought is still that they'll wait until Black gets a win then appoint him.

If he doesn't get a win soon enough they'll go for robinson.

With both appointments, singh will get to have a significant amount of clout. In the first option, the amount of outlay is very small.

Everything else is justt a smokescreen in my opinion.

PS: and I think it's a joke that a Malaysian TV pundit is picking our new manager. Farcical.

You misunderstand me. It's not that I want Judan Ali. I'm just comparing his experience with the others on the shortlist and concluding that he is getting a lot of unfair stick not only because he has no experience but various other factors such as having no connection to our club whatsoever. I mean think about it, if Sherwood had never played for Blackburn Rovers and led us to a trophy, would anyone be considering him? Shearer? Filty? Hill? Thought not.

I mean, if Zola suddenly comes in, or Gareth Southgate throws his name in, I bet nobody would want them either. And it's not because of experience - it's because neither of them has a connection to our club at all.

You don't want him but voted for him?!?

Connection with the club? If Sherwood had won the league at United, Liverpool or Arsenal I actually believe that that would give him more "clout" in the eyes of many fans. As it is he won it at Blackburn Rovers - that certainly shouldn't go against him ! He'll remember what this club was all about when run properly, how to do things the right way.

Is he the right man? I'm not sure, I not sure with any of them (they all have positves and negatives). The safest pair of hands would be McCarthy for me - but once promoted?. There are no certainties out there. However Sherwood is a far, far better candidate than Ali.

Show us your badges doesn't cut much ice when you look at the managerial records of the likes of Roy Keane and others while Mourinho, Hodgson and Vilas-Boas are all examples of successful managers who never played the game professionally. My objection to the likes of Sherwood, Ali etc etc is their lack of experience when the club desperately needs strong leadership from a proven manager who's been round the block a few times. If i were in Singh's shoes the logical choice must be McCarthy but then logic and Venky's have always made strange bedfellows.

Under normal circumstances would Sherwood or Ali be considered?

Are Bolton considering any of the above?

Doubt it.

From what I can see, and I may be totally wrong, the only reason that Sherwood is being considered is his history with the club and Ali because he's Indian. If that's true that's not a good reason to throw a large contract at someone to get the club promoted at first go.

As I understand, the poll was for who you ACCEPT, and not who you want. I'll paste the head of the poll again:

Which of the following managers would you accept

Accept, not want.

I took it that it was who would you find acceptable for the club to consider in the role. I took it that way as it's multiple choice and obviously you cannot accept all of them after they are in the job as they can't all be appointed.

Sorry, I get confused when it's just a tick in the box - you know, like a vote. OK - you would accept Ali and a host of others, fair play to you.

Have to agree with you. The whole "i'll take anybody as it's not Kean" stance is quite a ridiculous. It's opinions like that which will encourage Shebby and the Rao's to go for the easy, cheap option that is Black.

Cant get my head around the 'anyone but kean' attitude, Kean is not the standard or has he ever been a standard!! he shouldnt come into the equation...im my opinion anyone is better then Kean but if we hired Roy Keane etc id be livid!

We have a chance to get a decent manager and dare i say a very good one so to say as long as its not Kean is absolute madness!!

There are probably two trains of thought:

  1. People who are just glad to be rid of Kean and are prepared to give "anyone but Kean" a chance.
  2. People who are still livid at the Venky's and expect a huge turnaround in order to forgive them. Anybody but their number one choice (Holloway or Solskjaer it seems) will do nothing to win back their approval.

There are probably other mind sets out there but I suspect those are the main two.

Not even a huge turnaround, of course whoever is appointed isnt going to please everyone but i would think there about 6-8 candidates, realistic candidates that could get the job and be given a fair crack of the whip and given a chance by the fans...just my opinion..

Nixon is still maintaining that the top two on the shortlist are Sherwood and Holloway. Sherwood has been waiting for a meeting in Switzerland to be set up with Venky's which still hasn't been sorted yet, and the reason for that is a split within Rovers over which one they should go for.

Someone asked if it was Levy who was holding it up and he said no, Rovers holding it up due to being split on the decision.

Whispers that Sherwood now been given permission to speak to Rovers...

Edit: or perhaps not...

"For more on this see tomorrow's telegraph"

FFS, another day wasted.

No doubt the fools will wait for a few days before approaching again. Move on if they won't let us talk to him and show some urgency whilst you're at it.

Edit: How the chuffing hell has it taken us 19 days to make a formal approach for our #1 candidate?
