  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

There can be no excuses - it has taken us 20 days to get to this stage.

Burnley are doing interviews and presumably, they are not all out of work managers !

IMO, our planning and execution of the recruitment process has been p1ss poor and I don't think there are too many supporters who would disagree with that thought.

In reality Merc we are feckin nowhere.I doubt it qualifies as a 'process''. It will be Shebby blabbing his style of Sh1te versus Shaw talking 1980's style ''what we used to do '' tripe.

Its all a disgrace and once again -VENKYs ... OFF FROM OUR CLUB PLEASE

I believe the hold up with Sherwood is not him, but the people Shebby wanted to bring in around him (assistant, coaches etc)

Not all would be keen on the move north, especially with Redknapp waiting in the wings for QPR/West Ham/Southampton etc

Hence Nixon's change of emphasis to Holloway.

who are these coaches? supposly Sherwood wants 2 coaches from Spurs. think one is Chris Ramsey. cant remember other one.

From the replies underneath...

It would be a high pressure role for Ollie that's for sure. The locals have had many demonstrations and shows of displeasure at the management and owners and quite frankly I don't know how Steve Kean stayed as calm and sane as he did under such circumstances. Now Ollie will admit he's an emotional fella and this particular job would surely finish him off if he started to receive that scale of abuse? It would in my opinion finish him as a manager and take much longer than the much talked about 12 months to get his head right and get back into football.

Not a clue. There's only one Steve Kean. I doubt another manager would get the level of abuse he took, unless they had a carbon copy personality, a weekly trait of winding up the fans with lies, didn't get the job from merit and had the same agent.

just read on sky sports that we can talk to Tim sherwood

Are you sure it didn't read "can't"?

Why is everyone having a thrombo because Spurs have rejected our official approach? I honestly wouldn texpect anything else from them, they're simply engaged in a game of brinksmanship trying to screw as much compensation as they can out of us. As they should in their position.

I personally wouldn't go down the route of lobbing huge amounts of compensation after someone who's never managed myself. However if Rovers have decided he's our number one target and want him badly enough and he wants to come badly enough it can happen. This latest development is almost irrelevant.

Great posts from unsall on the matter. Rare moments of lucidity amongst a rising tide of collective hysteria today.

All Levy has to do is look at how we approached the Rhodes deal and hold out

Shebby: 'we'll give you 50p and some monster munch'

Levy: 'no'

Shebby: 'ok £1.59'

Levy: 'no'

Shebby: '£3.50?'

Levy: 'no'

Shebby: 'how about £10 million then?'

This may not be a popular opinion; but, as we [Venky's?] get four years' "parachute funding" at various amounts, would it be a disaster if we didn't get back to the Premier League at the first attempt?

Remember; it took us two seasons [albeit with an owner who loved the club and a Chief Executive who was well-versed in running the enterprise] to get back last time.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't want us to win promotion this season; merely that, given what's happened in the first couple of months of this season, I wouldn't be unhappy if the club took its time before appointing a good manager. My definition of a "good manager" would not necessarily mean someone with experience of managing in England but would include someone who would demand no interference from people whose knowledge of what is required to get us back to the Premier League is limited.

If that appointment process meant that we lost some ground in this season's promotion race but had a competent manager [in the way, for example, that Mark Hughes was during his time with us] who could set the team team up properly and get us back to the Premier League at the end of next season, I'd prefer that to a rushed appointment.

For me any new manager will have my backing as long as it isn't somebody promoted internally (Black, Hendry etc) or some utterly ridiculous apppointment such as Ali. I 'accepted' the majority on the poll here but if it's any of the aforementioned names then I'm done until Venky's go. As hard as that would be.

I fully agree with your post as it is SR, but I would also add for sake of clarity (or to help the people making the decision) that the main need right now is not an ex-Rover per se, but FAR MORE IMPORTANT that the man appointed is highly experienced in top class management already. BEEN THERE, DONE IT, AND HAD SUCESS. And preferably(though not absolutely essential) at one or more clubs in Englands' top two divisions.

just hypothetically ,if Levy wants £4m compo for Sherwood (regardless whether we think he's a good manager or not) would you be happy if Venky's , again , after the Rhodes deal ,were prepared to splash the cash?

At the end of the day, Tim appears for whatever reason to be their number 1 choice. So yes, they should go all out to get him if he is their man, just as they did with Rhodes IMO. But if there is no chance of it happening (they will know through speaking to his advisors etc.) then they should move on as it's just wasting precious time.

Accusing someone of being racist is a very strange idea of a joke.

I wasn't accusing anyone of being racist......I was making fun of the hysteria that resulted from learning that Judan Ali was linked to the job, and was actually referencing to what Ali has in common wih Venkys rather than his race. If the guy was black, it's not as if I would call anyone out for calling him the black chap. Plus who the hell adds a big :) at the end of an accusation? I'm pretty sure the :) would have been a big enough hint that my comment wasn't to be taken seriously. Or have emoticons become useless in displaying light-heartedness?

Funny how in the past people have moaned about the manager saying it should be a manager, not a coach as manager - so why all the backing for Sherwood?

Does he embrace sports science?

Does he have all his badges? Big compo for a Coach with No managerial experience seems a massive risk. Tell Levy to get fooked and move on!

I disagree with you about the Rhodes deal Tom, I think we did miraculously well to land him at any price.

Was he overpriced? That's a matter of opinion but in my view he looks a very good player wholl score a bucketload of goals under just about any manager bar black. And it's essential the latter isn't allowed to ruin him.

Putting Dunn on for Rhodes with 5 minutes to with the scores level. What the hells that about?

If we were 2 or 3 up maybe.
