it should be balaji's decision not speccys, i cant understand it, in fact i cant understand anything venkys have done so far. What a wasted opportunity they had and they have blown it, bunch of amateurs they are, anything they do now will be seen as just about acceptable when they could have got themsleves back into the fans good books, when i say acceptable i aint talking about appointing the likes of black, robinson etc. And now it seems nicko thinks owen coyle could be under consideration. MUPPETS!!

I don't usually believe a word Nicko says but I wouldn't put it past our owners wanting Owen Coyle. The doctor is ordering a respected figure to come in to get the fans on side again and players playing well. What we will actually get though will most likely be something very different.

Would Rovers wait a month for OLS to finish his season with Molde then Appoint him?

Can see Rovers doing this waiting for OLS

I've been thinking that for several days. Very risky if they do but, if OGS is "the right appointment", then they may just wait.

Have you seen the names on that list? Brad Friedel, Gus Hiddink, Nuno Gomes................the mind boggles.

Blackpool boss Holloway in line to replace Blackburn villain Kean at Ewood

By BOB CASS

PUBLISHED: 22:30

Ian Holloway is set to be offered the job as Blackburn Rovers manager with the directive to get the club back into the Premier League next season and a massive budget to help him achieve it.

Indian-based owner Venky’s has targeted the Blackpool boss as its top choice and will make an official approach within a week.

There's only one reason I can think of for Coyle to be in the frame...

On a side note.. I still do not understand why Grayson isn't seemingly a favoured candidate here.. Karl Robinson and Keith Hill both have worse records yet seem more popular..

Grayson has for 3 of the last 7 seasons got teams promoted from league one to the championship and pushed up the league with his last two (Huddersfield 3rd and he left Leeds 7th) all on very tight budgets (if you look through say the transfermarkt.co.uk site you will see not only some exceptional transfer deals.. but also allot of players who developed considerably under his management....).

To be fair Allardyce is currently performing far better at West Ham than he ever did with us.

Our highest position under him was 10 th and that was only due to a late run and final day of the season win which lifted us up to that position.

When he was sacked I think we had just beaten Wolves which had lifted us up to 13th with 21 points from 17 games. We had also recently been whupped 7-1 to United and failed to beat 10 man Bolton.

All that said, the decision to sack him and replace him with Kean made no sense to most at the time and has since been proven to be an act of folly. Black seems even worse.

I guess we'll never know what might have happened had Venky's replaced Sam with a manager of similar experience who merely played a different style.

There are very few managers since the big money started rolling into the PL (around 2000) who have consistently achieved top half finishes for their teams whilst on the kind of budget we were on. Tony Pulis, Alan Curbishley maybe, Hughes although this QPR stint is now a big black mark on the record.

When Sam was sacked we were 13th, but had we beaten Bolton we would have been 7th, things were that tight. We also had a run of very easy fixtures coming up.

Sacking a manager who was just about perfect for our situation was as big a mistake as appointing one who wasnt. Make no mistake about that.

For me Holloway seems the logical choice at the moment but something is stopping that

The problem seems to be Shebby but that is only based on rumours, however if true the only logical reasons seems Shebby wants someone who will involve him and not be his own man

Sorry but how the hell does Shebby even have power of veto for Holloway?! It's the brothers club, yes that idiot might be global advisor but if the owners want someone surely they can just go out and get them?

would they know how to though - do they do anything for themselves?

That really does not describe Sherwood IMO.. like I said before, to me this is almost as much about Shebby making sure Shaw/Agnew do not get the ones they want (and may have links with) than anything else.

second that.

Holloway is a good choice as rovers manager. Think he has took Blackpool as far as he can, after watching tonight game against Burnley.

I would take Holloway and Robinson over Sherwood for sure. Both as experience as manager which TS doesnt.

Why do we have to have the power struggle all the time within the club each using their own media outlet....its truly pathetic.

Long gone are the days where we knew our dependable board and chairman would make the correct decision.

Its been 3 weeks for the love of god and points are dripping away, get Holloway in, unite the fans and let us enjoy football for a freaking change.

I also believe that we should of got rid of the old Kean crew the day he left, any form of power struggle at the top is going to make this thing much harder than it should be (you only need to look at how many leaks have come out in regards to who has applied and who is on the shortlist to know that some people want to throw spanners in the works).
