  1. 1. Which of the following managers would you accept

Recommended Posts

It's all relative, John!

Here's a couple of other clichés for good measure:

Beggars can't be choosers

You get what you pay for

I still remember talk of Beckham and Ronaldinho. Ollie would be a coup by the standards set by the last 2 year.

True but Blackpool have been a bit indifferent this year, some will use the cliche 'he has taken then as far as he can' - others will just say he is an average manager.

Maybe just because I was chatting to some Leicester fans in the week but they wouldn't describe him as a coup.

Billy McKinlay seems to have come in from nowhere on the odds as favourite with BetVictor.

What a disaster if this comes off. Met Billy a few times when he was at Ewood, top bloke but what experience does he have? What makes him a decent choice.....at all?

Well I'll agree with you for once on that.

Plus, I take it he won't mind if any of the players just pretend to be injured and continue to pick up their wages.....................

I agree with that !

But the defence would still be a problem

I lost my source inside Ewood a few years ago ..

So cannot verify what I heard last night ..

McKinlay has applied for Bolton job , nothing on the Rovers job !

Sherwood , is being held up by Levy ..He won't force the issue but if we pay up , he will accept the job...

There was a rumour about Mckinlay 2 days ago. No change in the coaching staff if this happens as I think he is mates with Kean and Hendry.

He is indeed, very close mates with Kean. The only thing that concerns me about these rumours are that a certain leading candidate is close mates with Victor Chandler and may have tipped him.

Will be pretty dossapointed if McKinley gets it. If he does then you have to question Shebby as Keano's best mate would be getting the gig and Hendry etc will strengthen their positions. Not to mention Dumb and Dumber in Shaw and Agnew.

Edit - just seen he has absolutely no managerial experience. I'd be more than a little dissapointed.

So if that and various other rumours are to be believed, we seemingly have Sherwood who wants the job, Shearer who wants the job. Holloway who wants the job plus a collection of 80's and 90's relics who want the job plus OGS who might want the job at the end of the Norwegian season.

It shouldn't really be that hard to make an appointment of some description should it?

Tom Sherwood odds looked like he was a dead cert to join. Then they all changed again

There was a rumour about Mckinlay 2 days ago. No change in the coaching staff if this happens as I think he is mates with Kean and Hendry.

There have been rumours about almost every available manager/coach in the game the amount of mis-information or leaks coming from Rovers these days is insane...

Schuster, Trapatoni, Daum, Klinsman, Rijkaard, Grayson, McKinley, Black, Robinson, Hill, Sousa, Shearer, Sherwood, Holloway, Antic, OGS, Neville, McCarthy, Keane, Davies, Flitcroft, Ali, Blanc, Hitzfeld, Sven, Larsson, Di Cannio, Curbs, Newell....... are the ones I can remember..

Out of this lot my bottom 4 would be McKinley, Black, Ali and Flitcroft.... why is it I get the sinking feeling it will be one of these..

The latest rumours/Newpaper articles:

1 - Big name (Newspaper articles)

2 - McKinley (Rumours and bookies)

3 - Def not sherwood (A few papers)

4 - Not OGS, Holloway, Robinson, Grayson, McCarthy (Mr Cryer)

5 - Holloway (various papers)

OGS isn't going to miss out on winning the league with Molde, Sherwood chase looks over and doubt Shebby will be on board for Holloway.. so what the hell next...

Shebby wants a young but named manager, Bilaji will want a big name, Shaw/Agnew wants somone English and experienced who knows the game and Mrs D wants someone cheap..... finding someone who fits into that lot is nigh on impossible.

I still think though.. that if they can drop the has to be British (probably a Shaw requirement) thing that Schuster with a young sidekick would be the best fit for what the muppet show want.

That would be a worry

I've had to email them to odds on grayson, just to see what they put

A lot have drifted massively over theast 48 hours. Other bookies have suspended the markets while they see how mikinley has come in.

Looking at his experience of managing.......er.......I would say McKinlay would be a disaster given the fact that there are so many better names out there than him. No disrespect to him at all, he is a fine gent but for crying out loud, there are people out there much better qualified than him to take this job AND WHO WANT IT.

The other concerning factor is his relationship with Kean and the rest of the staff, cheap option all round.

If this really is Shebby's best idea, then there is not a cat in hell's chance of promotion this season. Maybe then at least some of you will take Shebby of the pedestal you have firmly placed him upon.

Still can't believe some people sing 'Shebby is our king'.....

The most disconcerting thing is that everybody seems to more relaxed about this one not coming than other names over the last few weeks.......that worries me somehow...

I would point out that Steve Kean is really not best friends with the Desai's any more over demands for compensation, thus his link with McKinlay would not be part of some greater scheme. (lightbulb moment) But then again, hasn't Kean come out in the papers this morning willing to accept a much lighter payoff? Hmm.....

If you're looking to win the league (and I'm assured your 'different class' squad deserves that), you need about 2 points a game.

Only three managers this season can boast that in the Championship.

Malky Mackay, Nigel Pearson and Steve Kean.

Maybe pick from one of those three.

I'm expecting an announcement either today or tomorrow, got a strong feeling it will be Ian Holloway, too much speculation indicating it will be him. Blackpool will want us to either put up or shut up, as they will use the speculation as an excuse for poor recent results.

I'd be happy with Holloway over the likes of McKinlay etc, but maybe Sherwood could have been a better option........who knows, time will tell.

So MaKinley is the one who's sneaked in ahead of Ollie?-----------young, British, ex-player and best of all completely inexperienced and therefore cheap. Absolute joke.

But didnt they say he had won the Premier League? that rules out McKinlay - maybe Henning Berg is on the radar, by process of deduction, (Flowers, Berg, Le Saux, Hendry, Gale, Pearce, Sherwood, Ripley, Wilcox, Atko, Batty, Shearer, Sutton, Newell - only Shearer and Berg out of that lot!
